Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Each day there are lessons to learn and lives to touch. Lord, You
have done so much for me. Help me to repay You.

Scripture for the day:

"And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all
peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; he will swallow up
death forever. Then the Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from all
faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the
earth, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said on that day, Lo, this is
our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the
LORD for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his
salvation." ~Isaiah 25:7-9

Meditation for the day:

We can live today in the consciousness of God's contact, upholding us in
all good thoughts, words and deeds. If sometimes there seems to be a
shadow on our lives and we feel out of sorts, we can remember that this
is not the withdrawal of God's presence, but only our own temporary
unwillingness to realize it. The quiet gray days are the days for doing
what we must do, but we can know that the consciousness of God's
nearness will return and be with us again, when the gray days are past.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may face the dull days with courage. I pray that I may
have faith that the bright days will return.

Greetings my friends! Today has been again on the cool side, but still,
Angie and I took a little walk to the Dairy Queen a few blocks away and we
each had a Wonder Bar - it's bigger and better than a Dilly Bar, but this is
not really a Dairy Queen, but Mr. Twisty, and it's cheaper. Of course Sammy
got to go along and got some have some too which he enjoyed.
Tomorrow Linus should be coming home around five - it's been so nice having
Angie here with me - and Sammy just loves her! Yesterday when she took him
for a walk, he did cut it short because I wasn't along, silly boy! Today he
was fine on the walk. She said he cut it short and showed her the way back
home. After Wheel of Fortune tonight there was a dog show on, some guy
that trains dogs, like Ceaser Romaro but not him, it was really good, Angie
says we watched it's first show. This morning I made Apple Pancakes for
breakfast, left-overs the rest of the day! Tomorrow I'm thinking some
chicken chow mein. She wants to treat us to the Café for supper. Jim, the
manager, even emailed us to see how we are and looking forward to seeing us!
Isn't that something? So my blessings for today is everything I posted
here. What are your blessings?

My Jesus

My Jesus, grant me light to see how I may enrich the lives of people around
me by my good will and sincere self-giving. Teach me to understand, accept
and assist them as I can. May their daily burden be a little lighter, and
their tasks a little easier because of my moral support and personal
assistance. May my external religious observances be pleasing to you through
this inner spirit of generosity and good will. Help me know myself well.
Teach me to have a proper self-love. My smallness disappears in the light of
your love, and my sins are erased by your divine reparation and pardon. May
I always present my requests with trust in your personal concern for me, and
with a willingness to accept your Fatherly decision in the matter. Amen.

Transcript of A Chinese Proverb About Money
With money you can buy a house but not a home.
With money you can buy a clock but not time.
With money you can buy a bed but not sleep.
With money you can buy a book, but not knowledge.
With money you can see a doctor, but not good health.
With money you can buy a position but not respect.
With money you can buy blood but not life.

What Do You Do, When God Speaks to You?
(author unknown)

A young man had been to Wednesday night Bible Study.
The Pastor had shared about listening to God and obeying the Lord's voice.
The young man couldn't help but wonder, "Does God still speak to people?"

After service he went out with some friends for coffee and pie and they
discussed the message.
Several different ones talked about how God had led them in different ways.
It was about ten o'clock when the young man started driving home.
Sitting in his car, he just began to pray,
"God. . . If you still speak to people, speak to me. I will listen. I will
do my
best to obey."
As he drove down the main street of his town, he had the strangest thought,
stop and buy a gallon of milk.
He shook his head and said out loud, "God is that you?"
He didn't get a reply and started on toward home.
But again, the thought, buy a gallon of milk.
The young man thought about Samuel and how he didn't recognize the
voice of God, and how little Samuel ran to Eli.
"Okay, God, in case that is you, I will buy the milk."
It didn't seem like too hard a test of obedience. He could always use the
milk.
He stopped and purchased the gallon of milk and started off toward home.
As he passed Seventh street, he again felt the urge, "Turn down that
street."
This is crazy he thought and drove on past the intersection.
Again, he felt that he should turn down seventh street.
At the next intersection, he turned back and headed down Seventh.

Half jokingly, he said out loud, "Okay, God, I will."
He drove several blocks, when suddenly, he felt like he should stop.
He pulled over to the curb and looked around. He was in a semi-commercial
area of town.

It wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst of neighborhoods either.
The businesses were closed and most of the houses looked dark like the
people were already in bed.
Again, he sensed something, "Go and give the milk to the people in the house
across the street."
The young man looked at the house.
It was dark and it looked like the people were either gone or they were
already asleep.
He started to open the door and then sat back in the car seat. "Lord, this
is insane.
Those people are asleep and if I wake them up, they are going to be mad and
I
will look stupid."
Again, he felt like he should go and give the milk.
Finally, he opened the door, "Okay God, if this is you, I will go to the
door and I will give them the milk.
If you want me to look like a crazy person, okay. I want to be obedient.
I guess that will count for something but if they don't answer right away, I
am out of here."
He walked across the street and rang the bell. He could hear
some noise inside. A man's voice yelled out, "Who is it? What do you want?"

Then the door opened before the young man could get away.
The man was standing there in his jeans and t-shirt. He looked like he
just got out of bed. He had a strange look on his face and he didn't seem
too happy to have some stranger standing on his doorstep. "What is it?"
The young man thrust out the gallon of milk, "Here, I brought this to you."
The man took the milk and rushed down a hall way speaking loudly in Spanish.
Then from down the hall came a woman carrying the milk toward the kitchen.

The man was following her holding a baby. The baby was crying.
The man had tears streaming down his face. The man began speaking and half
crying,
"We were just praying. We had some big bills this month and we ran out of
money.
We didn't have any milk for our baby.
I was just praying and asking God to show me how to get some milk."
His wife in the kitchen yelled out, "I ask him to send an Angel with
some...Are you an Angel?"
The young man reached into his wallet and pulled out all the money he had on
him
and put in the man's hand. He turned and walked back toward his car and the
tears were streaming down his face. He knew that God still answers prayers
and that God still speaks to His people.

God talks to us daily! We are to be in Obedience unto the functioning of the
Holy Spirit.
When God speaks to your heart of hearts, obey, for in your sacrifice of
obedience, God rewards you bountifully!
Praise God, for every opportunity to be used of Him, for He is Faithful to
answers prayers of those who seek Him.

A Prayer To The Holy Mother

Oh blessed Virgin,
pray to God for us always,
that He may pardon us and give us grace,
pray to God for us always,
that He may grant us peace in this life
pray to God for us always,
that He may reward us with paradise at our death.

AMEN

Live in Hope!

Romans 5:5

Hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our
hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

We hope, not because we are not certain, but because we have a faith that
transcends mere certainty. We hope, not because heaven is far away and we
are stuck on earth, but because in the Incarnation, heaven was born in the
form of a baby in Bethlehem, was crucified, died, and rose again. We hope
because the very worst thing that can possibly happen has already happened
and, so far from it leading to Cosmic Despair, has lead to life from the
dead and the gift of the Holy Spirit. If God is for us, who can be against
us? If God can bring eternal life for a race of murderers out of the death
of his own murdered Son, what possible limits can there be to his mercy?
None, except for our refusal to receive that mercy. Today, receive the mercy
of God and walk in newness of life in the Holy Spirit.

Prayers in Times of Weakness, Trial, Tribulation
O Heart of Love, I place all my trust in Thee, for I fear all things from my
own weakness, but I hope for all things from Thy goodness.
St. Margaret Mary

I live through the mercy of Jesus, to whom I owe everything and from whom I
expect everything.
Pope John the 23rd

Yet, O Lord, though I have no feeling of confidence in You, nevertheless, I
know that You are my God, that I am all Yours, and that I have no hope but
in your goodness; so, I abandon myself entirely into Your hands.
St. Francis de Sales

You make a root below the soil flourish and you can make fruitful the
darkness in which you keep me.
Jean-Pierre de Caussade

I adore all Thy purposes without knowing them; I am silent; I offer myself
in sacrifice; I yield myself to Thee; I would have no other desire than to
accomplish Thy will. Teach me to pray; pray Thyself in me.
Fenelon

May I be patient! It is so difficult to realize what one believes, and to
make these trials, as they are intended, real blessings.
John Henry Cardinal Newman

My own heart let me more have pity on.
Gerard Manley Hopkins, S.J.

Unceasing Prayer

Dear Father, who answers our prayers,

Help me to be steadfast in my praying to you, even to stay awake that I may
pray!

Fill my life with thanksgiving to you.

O God, I pray for all your servants everywhere that you may open a door for
us to proclaim your Word, to declare the now-public secret - Christ
crucified, glorified, and coming - and to make the message clear, as we
ought to speak.

In the name of Jesus I ask you to fill our lives with your holy life and to
claim all our motives and deeds as your own. Amen.

Blessings upon your tomorrow! God be with you in everything you do!
