Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Love people so much that you will do all that you can to lessen their human
sorrows. Lord, You have shown Your love for me. May I now radiate
Your presence to others.

Scripture of the day:

"A lawyer, asked Jesus a question to test him. 'Teacher, which commandment
in the law is the greatest?' He said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your
God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: 'You
shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all
the law and the prophets." ~Matthew 22:35-40

Meditation for the day:

God has a plan for the world we live in. God's design for the world is a
universal fellowship of men and women, guided by God. The plan for our
lives is also in the mind of God. In times of quiet meditation we can seek
God's guidance, for the revealing of God's plan for our day. Then we can
live this day according to God's guidance. Many of us are not making of our
lives what God means them to be, and so we are unhappy. We can miss the
God's plan for our lives.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may try to follow God's design for today. I pray that I may
live my life today consistent with God's plan.

Hello my friends! So sorry, Carolina, about the death of your dear friend.
That's always hard to bear. We lost a dear friend, too, quite a few years
ago, but never forgotton, he was only 51, and a marathon runner - picture of
good health - administrator of a hospital, they lived pretty far after they
moved away from here, so we don't get to see his wife and kids anymore, but
they used to live close here and belonged to our Charismatic Prayer Group
where we met most of our friends, seems like a lifetime ago. I'm always
glad when you and anyone stop in even if you don't have much to say - lots
of times I don't either and know what that's like. At school, I was the shy
one. Carba, I lost my Mom suddenly too, to a stroke, but she was 70, so I
had her for 25 years. Thankfully I was married then for 6 months, as I lived
with her before that. Your Mom left you too soon - so sorry you had that
big loss so soon. Thank you, Carba, for your kind words - when I started
this thread over five years ago, some came on with unkind words. We lived
all thru that. Thank you for coming here more often. You're already a good
friend! Yes, Lucy, I was scared yesterday - it was the first storm of the
season, and the sky looked dark and scary and I was home alone! Talking to
both daughters thru it helped greatly. Thanks for that sign you put there -
so very true! Juanita, that's a good idea for people to write to Jill. I
will, just email me her address, I don't know what to say to her yet, how
old is she? Maybe more will write to her from the thread. 90 days is long
for nothing to occupy the time like computers etc. it has to be hard on her.
Can she answer back? Oh I just saw she can do writing. Maybe she should
write a book during that time! She'll have God with her, and she can spend
lots of time praying and being in His presence. Harasgem, thank you so much
for your post – I’m so glad you liked the selection I chose for Thursday.
Come and post again – anytime! God be with you!
It’s been a really nice day today – I think it got to the 80’s. Did a lot of shopping,
went with him shopping for seeds, groceries and to Walgreens for a little micro-blade
for scraping the plantar’s wart. Got my hair color today (always here at home) – and Georgia is always tending to
my feet too, and I think she’s trying her hardest to get that wart off. Last time she
suggested super glue, and we’ve been using ever since, she scraped and she added more
today. She’s a Home Health aid and loves doing things like that and what a God send she is!
She is an Angel sent to me! May you all have a very blessed Thursday!!

May is the Month of Mary. And the prayer "Hail Mary" is a popular catholic
prayer which is taught even to children at a very young age. All people
should pray to Mary - she is OUR Blessed Mother, given to us at the Cross
and so willing to intercede for us lifting our prayers, purifying them
handing them to her Son, Jesus. I heard this on Relevant Radio and
thought - what a nice thought. I place you all in the Immaculate Heart of
Mary.

"Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with thee."
(Words by angel Gabriel in Luke 1:28)

"Blessed are you amongst all women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus."
(Words by St Elizabeth, Mother of John the Baptist, in Luke 1:42)

"Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death. Amen."
(Words given by the Catechism of the Council of Trent as an additional
praise of Mary and a request for her intercession with God)

- - -
Luke 1:43 - (Elizabeth said to Mary) "Why should this great thing happen to
me, that my Lord's mother comes to visit me?"
Luke 2:35 - (Simeon said to Mary) "And sorrow, like a sharp sword, will
break your own heart."
John 2:5 - (Mary said to the servants) "Do whatever he [Jesus] tells you."

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, hello, how are you?
I greet you with love,
And I thank you for being available.
Deeply, I breathe your roses,
The twelve fresh roses you place in my spirit
Every morning when I say hello to you.

Full of grace are you,
Grace spilling over Heaven's boundaries
Into my world, living water, bread and wine,
The unmerited favor of God
That you come carrying to me,
Your arms always full of gifts.

The Lord is with thee,
Jesus Christ the Messiah is with you,
And you teach me how to recognize
That the Lord is with me.

Blessed art thou amoung women,
Glowing with love for Jesus,
Pure blessedness never tainted
But alive with holy beauty.

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus,
The most blessed of humanity,
Delivered through you, Virgin Mary.
Jesus, the most cursed of humanity,
Who became a curse for me
So that I might be blessed
With his resurrection life.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Teach me to value motherhood,
Help me pray for mothers and fathers
To love and support each other.
Show me how God loves you.

Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of our death.
Pray that I can live each moment
Consecrated to love, to Christ,
That I recognize each now
As the moment of salvation
So that I die prepared for eternal life.
Pray that I can crucify my passions,
Those passions that make me a sinner,
And that I can die to sin on the cross with Jesus
As you look on weeping and praying
But joyous, knowing that resurrection follows.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners
Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Why Go To Church

Here is a question: Can I be a Christian without going to church?

The answer is Yes, it is possible. It is something like being:
a student who will not go to school..., a soldier who will not join the
army..., a citizen who does not pay taxes or vote..., an explorer with no
base camp..., an author without readers..., a guitar player without an
instrument..., a parent without a family..., a bird without a nest.

The Church exists for those outside it. Don't stay away from the Church
because it has so many hypocrites. There's always room for one more.

The Church is not made up of people who are better than the rest, but of
people who want to become better than they are.

JOHN 3:16
Author Unknown

In the city of Chicago, one cold, dark night, a blizzard was setting
in. A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner, the people were
in and out of the cold. The little boy was so cold that he wasn't
trying to sell many papers. He walked up to a policeman and said,
"Mister, you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could find a
warm place to sleep tonight would you?
You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and down the
alley and it's awful cold in there, of a night. Sure would be nice to
have a warm place to stay."

The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "You go down the
street to that big white house and you knock on the door. When they
come out the door you just say John 3:16 and they will let you in."

So he did, he walked up the steps to the door, and knocked on the door
and a lady answered. He looked up and said, "John 3:16."

The lady said "Come on in, Son." She took him in and she sat him down
in a split bottom rocker in front of a great big old fireplace and she
went off.

He sat there for a while, and thought to himself "John 3:16.... I
don't understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy warm."

Later she came back and asked him "Are you hungry?"

He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of days and
I guess I could stand a little bit of food." The lady took him in the
kitchen and sat him down to a table full of wonderful food. He ate and
ate until he couldn't eat any more. Then he thought to himself "John
3:16... Boy, I sure
don't understand it, but it sure makes a hungry boy full."

She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub filled with warm
water and he sat there and soaked for a while. As he soaked, he
thought to himself, "John 3:16... I sure don't understand it, but it
sure makes a dirty boy clean. You know, I've not had a bath, a real
bath, in my whole life.
The only bath I ever had was when I stood in front of that big old
fire hydrant as they flushed it out."

The lady came in and got him, and took him to a room and tucked him
into a big old feather bed and pulled the covers up around his neck
and kissed him goodnight and turned out the lights. As he laid in the
darkness and looked out the window at the snow coming down on that
cold night he thought to himself, "John 3:16... I don't understand it,
but it sure makes a tired boy
rested."

The next morning she came back up and took him down again to that same
big table full of food. After he ate she took him back to that same
big old split bottom rocker in front of the fireplace and she took a
big old Bible and sat down in front of him and she looked up at and
she asked "Do you understand John 3:16?"

He said, "No, Ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it was last
night when the policeman told me to use it."

She opened her Bible to John 3:16 , and she began to explain to him
about Jesus. Right there in front of that big old fireplace he gave
his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there and thought, "John 3:16. I
don't understand it, but it but it sure makes a lost boy feel safe."

You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either, how God
would be willing to send His Son to die for me, and how Jesus would
agree to do such a thing. I don't understand it either, but it sure
does make Life worth living.

John 3:16 - 18

16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. 17. For God sent not his Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not
is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the
only begotten Son of God.

Chamber of Prayer

Lord God take me there
Where You and I can share
Our innermost thoughts in prayer
With all my problems bare

For as I seek Your face
You lift me with Your grace
You surround me with Your light
And give me renewed sight

Lord God take me there
Where You and I can share
Your Kingdom yet to come
And the love we have for Your Son

The peace and calm You give
Almost seems unreal
Then I remember the place
You've brought me with Your grace

It is when You take me there
To that secret Chamber of Prayer
And expecting a miracle there
You show how much You care

Lord God gently lead me there
To that secret Chamber of Prayer
Shower me with Your fountain
Miracles in answered prayer

I BELIEVE

I believe- that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we
are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I believe- that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you
every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I believe- that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them
to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

I believe- that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest
distance. Same goes for true love.

I believe- that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to
be.

I believe- that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may
be the last time you see them.

I believe- that you can keep going, long after you can't.

I believe- that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I believe- that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I believe- that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it
needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I believe- that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I believe- that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the
best time.

I believe- that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're
down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I believe- that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry , but
that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I believe- that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences
you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many
birthdays you've celebrated.

I believe- that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes
you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe- that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't
stop for your grief.

I believe- that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't
love each other And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

I believe- that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could
change your life forever.

I believe- that two people can look at the exact same thing and see
something totally different.

I believe- that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who
don't even know you.

I believe- that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend
cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.

I believe- that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human
being.

I believe- that the people you care about most in life are taken from you
too soon.
