Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Not only must we know God's will, but we must do God's will to enter
the Kingdom of Heaven. Lord, I commit myself to obeying the will of
my heavenly Father.

Scripture for the day:

"You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of
joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore." ~Psalm 16:11

Meditation for the day:

"In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are
pleasures forevermore." We do not find true happiness by looking for
it. Seeking pleasure does not bring happiness in the long run, only
disillusionment. We need not seek to have this fullness of joy by
seeking pleasure. It cannot be done that way. Happiness is a
by-product of living the right kind of life. True happiness comes as
a
result of living in all respects the way we believe God wants us to
live, with regard to ourselves and to other people.

Prayer of the day:

I pray that I may not always seek pleasure as a goal. I pray that I
may be content with the happiness that comes when I do the right
thing.

Hello my friends! Some of you already are having trees blooming and other
things, and I can almost smell the aroma here in snow country!! Makes me
anxious for our Spring to come and it will eventually! It was a blessing to
receive a phone call from Darla tonight - he put it on speaker so we both
could hear her and talk. She and Greg are taking some dancing lessons for
their Wedding. A two step - says it's country though.. We just know the two
step is polkas. I know we're old fashioned! Lots of ordinary blessings
today - I won't take them for granted!
Thanks be to God for our warm house, our family, my dear hubby who takes
good care of me, and our Sammy! He sure makes us smile!

HAVING MOM OVER FOR DINNER

Brian Hester invited his mother over for dinner. During the course of the
meal, Brian's mother couldn't help but keep noticing how beautiful Brian's
roommate, Stephanie, was. Mrs. Hester had long been suspicious of a
relationship between Brian and Stephanie, and this had only made her more
curious. Over the course of the evening, while watching the two react, Mrs.
Hester started to wonder if there was more between Brian and Stephanie than
met the eye.

Reading his mom's thoughts, Brian volunteered, "I know what you must be
thinking, but I assure you Stephanie and I are just roommates."

About a week later, Stephanie came to Brian and said, "Ever since your
mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the beautiful silver gravy
ladle. You don't suppose she took it, do you?"

Brian said, "Well, I doubt it, but I'll send her an email just to be
sure."

So he sat down and wrote, "Dear Mother I'm not saying that you 'did' take
the gravy ladle from the house. I'm not saying that you 'did not' take the
gravy ladle. But the fact remains that one has been missing ever since you
were here for dinner. Love, Brian."

Several days later, Brian received a letter from his mother that read, "Dear
Son I'm not saying that you 'do' sleep with Stephanie, and I'm not saying
that you 'do not' sleep with Stephanie. But the fact remains that if she
were sleeping in her own bed, she would have found the gravy ladle by now.
Love, Mom"

LESSON OF THE DAY... NEVER LIE TO YOUR MOTHER!

Daily Prayer

Lord, our God, may your Son reign in our minds
so that we may think as He would have us think.

May He rule our hearts
so that we may love as He would have us love.

May He direct our whole behaviour
that it may be more like His.

Lord, for what we have, we are so grateful.

Help us especially to be sensitive and generous towards
others.
And finally, may we really want your Kingdom to come.

Amen.

Sayings of Mother Teresa

Jesus came amongst his own and his own received him not
He knew suffering and loneliness.
He knows your pain, Bruised, divided, full of pain and wounds as you are,
accept Jesus as he comes into your life
and recognize him when once more he comes in his distressing disguise.
Be not afraid in your suffering.
God loves you. As miserable, weak and sinful as we are.
He loves us with an infinitely faithful and forgiving love.

DEVELOP THE RIGHT SELF ATTITUDE
Author Unknown

Here are 10 suggestions to help you develop and maintain a healthy
self-image. Read them slowly. Meditate on them regularly.

1. Hate your sin, but never hate yourself.

2. Be quick to repent.

3. When God gives you light, walk in it.

4. Stop saying negative things about yourself. God loves you and
it's wrong to hate what He loves. He has great plans for you, so
you're in conflict with Him when you speak negatively concerning your
future.

5. Never be afraid to admit that you've made a mistake and don't
always assume that when things go wrong, it must be 'my fault'.

6. Don't meditate excessively on what you've done, right or wrong;
both of these activities keep your mind on you! Center your thoughts
on Christ.

7. Take good care of yourself physically. Make the best of what God
gave you to work with, but don't be obsessed with your appearance.

8. Never stop learning but don't allow your education to become a
point of pride. God doesn't use you because of what's in your head: He
uses you because of what's in your heart.

9. Realize that your talents are a gift, not something you have
manufactured yourself; never look down on people who can't do what
you do.

10. Don't despise your weaknesses they keep you dependent on God.

A TRICK
Author Unknown

A young man, a student in one of our universities, was one day taking
a walk with a professor, who was commonly called the students' friend,
from his kindness to those who waited on his instructions.

As they went along, they saw lying in the path a pair of old shoes,
which they supposed to belong to a poor man who was employed in a
field close by, and who had nearly finished his day's work.

The student turned to the professor, saying: "Let us play the man a
trick: we will hide his shoes, and conceal ourselves behind those
bushes, and wait to see his perplexity when he cannot find them."

"My young friend," answered the professor, "we should never amuse
ourselves at the expense of the poor. But you are rich, and may give
yourself a much greater pleasure by means of the poor man. Put a coin
into each shoe, and
then we will hide ourselves and watch how the discovery affects him."

The student did so, and they both placed themselves behind the bushes
close by.

The poor man soon finished his work, and came across the field to the
path where he had left his coat and shoes. While putting on his coat
he slipped his foot into one of his shoes; but feeling something hard,
he stooped down
to feel what it was, and found the coin.

Astonishment and wonder were seen upon his countenance. He gazed upon
the coin, turned it round, and looked at it again and again. He then
looked around him on all sides, but no person was to be seen. He now
put the money into his pocket, and proceeded to put on the other shoe;
but his surprise was doubled on finding the other coin.

His feelings overcame him; he fell upon his knees, looked up to heaven
and uttered aloud a fervent thanksgiving, in which he spoke of his
wife, sick and helpless, and his children without bread, whom the
timely bounty, from
some unknown hand, would save from perishing.

The student stood there deeply affected, and his eyes filled with
tears."Now," said the professor, "are you not much better pleased than
if you had played your intended trick?"

The youth replied, "You have taught me a lesson which I will never
forget. I feel now the truth of those words, which I never understood
before: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

May you find many blessings all around you - and give thanks to the Giver!
God bless you!
