We are often called upon by God as His means to care for His people.
Lord, I am here to serve You and am ready to do Your work.

"But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and
persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act--they will be
blessed in their doing." ~James 1:25

When something happens to upset us and we are discouraged, we can try to
feel that life's difficulties and troubles are not intended to arrest
our progress in the spiritual life, but to test our strength and to
increase our determination to keep going. Whatever it is that must be
met, we can either overcome it or use it. Nothing need daunt us for
long, nor need any difficulty entirely overcome or conquer us. God's
strength is always there, waiting for us to use it. Nothing can be too
great to be overcome, or if not overcome, then used.

I pray that I may know that there can be no failure with God. I pray
that with God's help I may live a more victorious life.
Hello my friends! Hope your day went well. It was a good day today - but
for Mass this morning we wore sweaters, it's getting more cool out
especially in the mornings. Today I was busy cleaning out the fridge and
preparing raw veggies etc. and getting things ready for our guests tomorrow
night. I was on my feet too much, and now I feel it, but I got that
finished and that's good! Made a stir fry for supper using our fresh
tomatoes, green beans out of the garden, our carrots etc. etc. and browned
hamburger and onions in it. Was very delicious.
Good way to use up raw foods. Other than that, just an ordinary blessed day
that God gives us. How about you?

Make Peacemaking Your Prime Profession!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Col 2:6-15 / Lk 6:12-19
Have you ever noticed how some people always seem ready for a fight or an
argument? The issue seems to make no difference; it’s the fight that counts.
Some might say that our whole culture is moving rapidly in the same
direction, with litigation the first thought that comes to mind when there’s
an accident or a mistake is made. In part it’s the desire to come upon some
easy money, but even more it’s the need to blame and punish someone for life’s
tragedies, large and small.
How far that frame of mind is from the vision of peace that Jesus
consistently offers and urges upon us. The kind of peace that Jesus offers
does not come from a submerging of differences, pretending that they aren’t
there, but from a respectful resolution of them. Jesus’ kind of peace starts
from the inside with a profound conviction of the value and dignity of the
people around us and of their right to our respect, even in the midst of
hearty disagreement.
Creating and maintaining that kind of peace is the work of a lifetime. But
what better time to begin? Make peacemaking your prime profession!
The Choice Is Yours
My friend Kenny is a used car dealer. He's also a committed Christian.
He has a sign out front that says, "Heaven Or H ell, the choice is
yours." A lot of Kenny's customers are curious about the sign. Kenny
says it sparks a lot of conversations that allow him to share his
faith with others.
I thought of Kenny's sign awhile back when I watched a re-run of an
episode of the popular Seinfeld show. In the episode, Elaine borrows
boyfriend David Puddy's car. She's surprised to find all of the radio
preset buttons tuned to Christian stations. She expresses her surprise
to Jerry and George and wonders if Puddy really is a Christian. She
even steals the "Jesus Fish" from the back of his car to show them
as evidence of her suspicions.
Always trying to find a solution that includes good humor, George and
Jerry advise her to tune the radio buttons to different settings before
taking the car back to see what happens. Sure enough, a few weeks later
she borrows Puddy's car again and all of the settings are back on
Christian stations. When she shares this with George and Jerry, she
wonders aloud, "Perhaps Puddy has more depth that I thought."
Later she confronts Puddy and, realizing her own lack of a relationship
with God, starts asking about his faith. Eventually, she poses the
question, "Puddy, aren't you at all concerned about my lack of faith."
Without pausing he replies, "No." When she asks why, he calmly replies,
"Because I'm not the one who's going to go to h ell."
We are all free agents. We are responsible for our own decision when
it comes to Christ. While it was played for dramatic effect by the
Seinfeld scriptwriters, there is a great deal of truth in Puddy's
stance. Each of us, as individuals, is called to make a decision about
the one we call Christ. No one else can make that decision for you.
When you die and you are asked why you should be allowed to enter
heaven, it won't be what your friend says that matters. It's what you
say. Can you claim that it is because Christ died for you and you have
accepted his resurrection on faith? As my friend Kenny would say,
"Heaven or H ell, the Choice is yours."

A Morning Prayer...
I prayed to God this morning
That He might send me hope,
And then He sent His mighty Word
To give me strength to cope...
I prayed to God this morning
That He might send me joy,
And all around I heard the mirth
Of every girl and boy...
I prayed to God this morning
That He might send me love,
And suddenly I felt the warmth
of sunshine from above....
I prayed to God this morning
That He might send me peace,
And in the clamor of the day,
I felt a great release!
