Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

God knows what is best for you in all matters of your life. Rely on His wisdom.
Lord, I place my trust in You because You answer every prayer.

Scripture for the day:
"He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my
feet upon a rock, making my steps secure." ~Psalm 40:2

Meditation for the day:
"He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my
feet upon a rock, making my steps secure." The first part, "He
brought me up out of a horrible pit," means that by turning to God and
putting my problems in God's hands, I am able to overcome my sins and
temptations. "He set my feet upon a rock" means that when I trust God
in all things, I have true security." He makes my steps secure,"
means that if I honestly try to live the way God wants me to live, I
will have God's guidance in my daily living.

Prayer for the day:
I pray that my feet may be set upon a rock. I pray that I may rely on
God to guide my comings and goings.

Hi my friends! How was your day? Beautiful weather here today – not too hot! Darla called me on her birthday – that was a nice blessing to hear from her. She will be driving to San Antonio this weekend for presenting a paper. She said they would go out to eat and dancing tonight. Another blessing was that Lori stopped over – she’s always so busy with her house and yard and that’s to be expected of. Said she has weeding to do now. Eating her cauliflower now and soon her cabbage is ready. She’s enjoying her garden! She’ll share her cukes with me. Gardening is work, but so enjoyable. Another three days of hard work, and Linus’ feet are tired but don’t hurt!! Nothing like it was – Praise the Lord!! Tomorrow he’s going to his brother’s and make some more kritswurst, this time with oatmeal in it. I know he’ll enjoy every minute there!

Can You See Past the Giants?
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Nm 13:1-2, 25-14:1, 26-29, 34-35 / Mt 15:21-28
"Their men are giants, and compared to them we look like grasshoppers!" That’s the way life can feel at times: just too much. The Israelites’ scouts had reconnoitered the Promised Land and it was wonderful, and they wanted it … badly. But their fears got in the way, and they couldn’t see past the giants. They still couldn’t bring themselves to trust that God, who had rescued them from the all-powerful pharaoh, could be enough for them as they faced a new challenge. Their hearts weren’t ready, so the journey from Egypt, which should have taken only a matter of weeks, took 40 years.
Is a fearful heart freezing you in place and stealing away your joy? That doesn’t have to happen because the Lord himself is walking with you. And he is enough for you. He IS enough.
Thanks be to God!

Apples in Gold
The Word says, "A word fitly spoken
is like Apples of gold in pictures of silver".
How very beautiful to hear.
Yet ugly words can be as a sword,
A sword so sharp and clear.
Your words are the Apples of Gold,
Set in pictures of pure silver filigree.
You are The Way, The Truth and The Life;
You are our Savior, our King, and our Royalty.
No other savior, no other god,
No other statue of person, foul or fish,
Can save mankind from their sin,
Even though others make this wish.
Your Words are Apples of Gold In pictures of silver,
shining so very brightly.
Lead us, my Savior, now and forever,
You are the only One to lead us rightly.
Your Words are Apples of Gold In pictures of silver,
precious as lovely jewels.
Lead us, my Lord, now and forever,
Embed in us your holy "Golden Rule."
You are my Love, You are my very Life,
You are my All in All.
You are the true, and only, Gift of Life,
You keep us from the fall.
Your Words are Apples of Gold In pictures of silver,
glowing with power and might.
Come for us soon, my Savior, Redeemer,
Rescue us from this worldly plight!
God Bless You all

Then and Now
Only in the hereafter will heaven truly be in our hands.
Meanwhile, we have to work for it here on earth.

Humility
"The gate of Heaven is very low; only the humble can enter it."
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
For Reflection:
Would I fit under the gate of Heaven? What about me would make it most difficult?
Jesus' Great Mercy
Christ died and rose so that sin and accusation would never have the last word. I rejoice that mercy and redemption are possible for every repentant sinner who comes to Christ, because this means it is possible for me!

THE LAME AND THE STRAGGLER
By Sally I. Kennedy
Aug 12 2008
Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with
all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest
commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as
yourself.' Matthew 22:37-39
It was morning, still early enough for there to be little traffic on
our street. From the kitchen window, I spied a dramatic sight. A flock
of ibis were touring for food. Our grass must have tasty bugs; they
busily absorbed themselves with their meal.
Their slender stork-like legs are so graceful. One bird seemed to be
balleting through breakfast; a leg was held out continually. Actually
it was dangling, I then noticed, obviously broken or perhaps the ibis
was lame, perhaps hurt. This didn’t deter him from hanging right in
there with the group. He pretty much kept up with the rest of the
company.
The straggler was out in the street, while the rest were diving and
pecking into the lawn. Then he was off by himself toward the front, as
they headed out to the next spot. He was with the crowd, yet he was on
the fringes.
I don’t know much about bird behavior, but perhaps these beautiful
birds stick together for a reason. We need each other; no man’s an
island.
We need each other, and we need God. The Bible says, “Love God, and
love others.” (Matt.22) How simple; how perfect.
Lord, thank You for the thoughts and words You brought to mind today
through your creations in nature. Help me be aware of You in
everything, Lord, and to have a grateful heart for loving You, and
loving others. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer to Honor the Name of Mary
O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to thank the Holy Trinity for having created thee so beautiful and full of grace. I want to honor thine Immaculate Conception, thy Divine Maternity, and thy glorious Assumption.
O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to unite myself with thee in co-offering all the Masses which are being celebrated throughout the world, in order to offer to Jesus through thine Immaculate Heart my actions, my prayers, my joys and my troubles each and every moment of my life.
O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to confide to thee those whom I love and those to whom I wish to do good, especially: . . .
I wish to receive from Jesus through thee all the graces of which I am in need: spiritual graces and temporal favors, especially: . . .
O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to remind thee that I am thy child and that thou art my Mother. Help me as thou didst help Jesus. Protect me as thou didst protect Jesus.
When I call thee, Mary, remember me!
It would be most efficacious to recite this prayer at the beginning of each day, preferably before our daily Rosary or before any chaplet. The name of Mary is mentioned no less than 106 times in the Rosary and at least once in most chaplets.

Good night everyone! Sweet Dreams and have a great Thursday!!! God Bless You!!
