Prepare for each day by spending time in prayer with God. Lord, my faith
in You fills me with confidence as I meet the challenges that today will
bring.
Scripture for the day:
"You are dust, and to dust you shall return." ~Genesis 3:19
Meditation for the day:
The joy of true fellowship can be mine in full measure. I can revel in
the joy of real fellowship. There can come back a wonderful joy, if I
share in fellowship now. Fellowship among spiritually-minded people is
the embodiment of God's purpose for this world. To realize this can
bring me a new life-joy. If I share in the joy and travail of others, a
great blessing can be mine. I can truly live a life not of earth, but a
life of joy and oneness starting here and now.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may be helped and healed by true spiritual fellowship. I
pray that I may sense God's presence in spiritual fellowship with God's
children.
Hello my friends! My blessings today was when Lori and Darla came here and
cooked lunch for us - and we had a nice, short visit yet before she left.
Darla leaves early tomorrow morning, but they left here to visit Erma in
Mpls. and then have supper with Donna, Joe's sister, and Cory - the one in
the military is taking them now to a comedy show he had tickets for, they
stay overnight at his house, and at 5 AM Darla has to be at the airport. It
felt lonely after they left. Had a nap, and tonight I called Deil - told
her how happy I was she could make it to the funeral so we all were there,
she had been sick with a cough, but she felt better and her son and family
picked her up so she didn't have to drive anywhere. We talked about the
funeral and the food and she heard that 98% of the town asked to donate
food! Wow! Another blessing was when Deil told me that Sister LaDonna is
staying with Erma until Wednesday! That is soooo good. So when my girls
went to visit Erma, they got to see Sister LaDonna then too for a visit.
How nice! It has been a down day today, but little things like that lifts
my spirits.
Praise God for always lifting us up!
SHOWING THROUGH
A little girl, on the way home from church, turned to her mother and said,
"Mommy, the preacher's sermon this morning confused me.
" The mother said, "Oh! Why is that?"
The girl replied, "Well, he said that God is bigger than we are. Is
that true?"
"Yes, that's true," the mother replied.
"He also said that God lives within us. Is that true, too?"
Again the mother replied, "Yes." "Well," said the girl. "if God is
bigger than us and he lives in us, wouldn't he show through?"
I like that little girl's way of putting it. If God lives in us, then
there's no way of keeping Him from "showing through". That's the essence of
Christian living----living in such a way that people around will see God in
our lives. (He'll show through)
There once was a man who had nothing for his family to eat. He had an old
shotgun and three bullets. So, he decided that he would go out and kill
something for dinner.
As he went down the road, he saw a rabbit and he shot at the rabbit and
missed it. Then he saw a squirrel and fired a shot at the squirrel and
missed it. As he went further, he saw a wild turkey in the tree and he had
only one bullet, but a voice came to him and said "pray first, aim high and
stay focused."
However, at the same time, he saw a deer which was a better kill. He
brought the gun down and aimed at the deer. But, then he saw a rattle snake
between his legs about to bite him, so he naturally brought the gun down
further to shoot the rattle snake.
Still, the voice said again to him, "I said 'pray, aim high and stay
focused."
So, the man decided to listen to the voice. He prayed, then aimed the gun
high up in the tree and shot the wild turkey. The bullet bounced off the
turkey and killed the deer. The handle fell off the gun and hit the snake
in the head and killed it. And, when the gun had gone off, it knocked him
into a pond.
When he stood to look around, he had fish in all his pockets, a dead deer
and a turkey to eat. The snake (Satan) was dead simply because the man
listened to God.
Moral of the story: Pray first before you do anything, aim and shoot high.
CLOSED DOORS
Author Unknown
We need to learn to praise the Lord as much for a closed door as we do
an open door. The reason God closes doors is because He has not
prepared anything over there for us. If he didn't close the wrong
door, we would never find the right door.
God directs our path through the closing and opening of doors. Once a
door closes, it forces you to change your course. Another door closes,
it forces you to change your course again. Then, finally, you find the
open door and you walk right into your blessing.
The Lord directs our paths through the opening and closing of doors,
but instead of praising him for the closed door (which keeps us out of
trouble); we get upset because we "judge by the appearances. "
You have an ever-present help in the time of trouble that is always
standing guard. Because He walks ahead of you, He can spot trouble
down the road and set up a roadblock or detour accordingly. But
through our lack of wisdom, we try to tear down the roadblocks or push
aside the detour sign. Then the minute we get into trouble, we start
crying, "Lord, how could You have done this to me?"
We have got to realize that the closed door can be a blessing. Didn't
He say that no good thing would He withhold from them that love Him?
If you get terminated from your job, praise God for the new
opportunities that will manifest themselves: it might be another job,
it might be school.
If that man or woman won't return your call, it might not be them, it
might be the Lord setting up a roadblock (just let it go).
One time, a person had a bank they had been in business with for many
years tell them "No!" to a $10,000 loan. The Lord put in their spirit
to call another bank. That bank gave them $40,000 at a lower interest
rate than the first bank was offering.
We can sometimes trap ourselves in doubt and discouragement through
judging by appearances. Be grateful for the many times our Father has
closed doors to us just to open them in the most unexpected places.
The Lord won't always say in spoken words: "Go to the left, now to the
right" ...sometimes He will just close the doors that are wrong for
you.
God Bless You Always!
Blood of Christ, Inebriate Me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me! Inebriate me with Your Love, that I may be
absorbed in Your interests and Your Will. Absorbed so as to be unmindful of
my ills and petty cares. Unmindful of weariness and pain, heartache, and
disappointment. Heedless of the lash of cruel words, and patient under
wrongs. Amen.
Be an Example
Let me spend my waking hours seeking an example,
finding an example, being an example.
— from A Guy's Guide to the Good Life
Jonah's Prayer
In my distress, O Lord, I called to you,
and you answered me.
From deep in the world of the dead
I cried for help, and you heard me.
You threw me down into the depths,
to the very bottom of the sea,
where the waters were all around me,
and all your mighty waves rolled over me.
I thought I had been banished from your presence
and would never see your holy Temple again.
The water came over me and choked me;
the sea covered me completely,
and seaweed wrapped around my head.
I went down to the very roots of the mountains,
into the land whose gates lock shut forever.
But you, O Lord my God,
brought me back from the depths alive.
When I felt my life slipping away,
then, O Lord, I prayed to you,
and in your holy Temple you heard me.
Those who worship worthless idols
have abandoned their loyalty to you.
But I will sing praises to you;
I will offer you a sacrifice
and do what I have promised.
Salvation comes from the Lord!
(Jonah 2:2-9)
Sunday, being the Lord's day, I wish for you all a very blessed and peaceful
day - look for His blessings - they are all there for you to count! God
bless you!
