Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

We are often called upon by God as His means to care for His people.
Lord, I am here to serve You and am ready to do Your work.

Scripture for the day:

"Be still and know that I am God." ~Psalm 46:10

Meditation for the day:

We need not become encumbered by petty annoyances. We need not respond to
emotional upsets by emotional upset. It is best for us to keep calm in all
circumstances. We need not fight back. We can call on the grace of God to
calm us when we feel like retaliating. We can look to God for the inner
strength to drop those resentments that drag us down. If we are burdened by
annoyances, we can lose our inward peace and the spirit of God can be shut
out. We can try to keep peaceful within.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may do the things that make for peace. I pray that I may have
a mission of conciliation.

Peace of Jesus to you all!! Hope your day was special today. We had a nice, quiet day at home after I got back with the girls Wedding Dress shopping again, and Darla picked out her dress now and veil. Very beautiful! Now the reception hall. Lori had a wedding later, and Darla met with friends in Mpls. so Linus and I went out to eat at our fav restaurant again. Jim, the manager, even said he was thinking of Linus today - and thought about going to Northern Tool to say Hi. He bought our drinks, and sat with us and visited - it was so nice!
He is always fun to be with and every time we leave there, we leave happy!! Now we talked to Jim about Darla having her reception there, and so she should meet with him and they'll discuss it, and being he's our friend, he'll give her a deal. It's a very elegant place!! Hope it won't be too expensive for them.
Blessings today are my family and friends and a good restaurant to go to when we can afford it. We save for this treat! Nothing else new today!

I´ll Always Be Here for You!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Dt 8:2-3, 14b-16a / 1 Cor 10:16-17 / Jn 6:51-58

A man was walking down the street when he passed a house and saw a child on the porch, stretching to reach the doorbell. No matter how hard the little fellow tried, he couldn’t reach that bell. So the man called out, “Hey, there, let me give you a hand.” And he came up on the porch and rang the bell.

“Thanks, mister,” said the tyke with a huge smile. “Now, let’s run..”

Running away is a temptation that comes to us all. Sometimes, just for a moment, even the bravest of us would like to run away as hard and fast as we can because life seems just too much: work, family, friends, tests, contracts, TV, our own selves. Some days all of them or any one of them can make us want to run far and fast and let someone else clean up the mess. “Forget love and duty. I don’t care what happens, just get me out of here!”

We’ve all thought it or said it, and sometimes we’ve done it. The temptation to run is real, and because it is real, it gives birth to a powerful kind of fear, the fear of being abandoned and left all alone.

We know only too well our own temptation to run, so it’s only a short hop to the other side of the equation. What if everybody gets fed up with me, and runs away and leaves me all alone? What if God finally gets fed up with me, and leaves me all alone forever and ever? What if…?

The eucharist is the Lord’s answer to that terrifying “what if.” In giving us his own body and blood to be eaten as often as we need it, Jesus is saying, “I’ll always be here for you, and I’ll never run away. Whenever you come to me, I’ll nourish your spirit. I’ll make you strong when you’re weak. I’ll be medicine for your heart, and I’ll heal you on the inside when you’ve been wounded there.”

That’s the promise Jesus made when he first gave us his body and blood, and it’s the promise he renews every time we receive the eucharist.

And what does he ask in return? Only that we not run away, not run away from our commitments or our challenges, not run away from ourselves or our need to change, and most especially, that we not run away from those who need us.

At the moment of communion, as the host is held up before us and the priest speaks aloud, “The Body of Christ,” the Lord whispers to our hearts: “I’ll always be here and always be enough for you. So promise me you’ll never run away.”

And we answer, “Amen. Yes, Lord. I know you are here; and you will always be enough for me. I promise I’ll never run away. Amen, Lord. Amen.”

Mother Teresa said...
To make sure that we do not forget, Jesus gave us the Eucharist as a memorial of his love ... When you look at the Crucifix, you understand how much Jesus loved you then, when you look at the Sacred Host you understand how much Jesus loves you now."

House Cleaning

Last Week I threw out WORRYING,
It was getting old and in the way.
It kept me from being me,
I couldn't do things my way.
I threw out those inhibitions,
They were just crowding me out.
Made room for my New Growth,
Got rid of my old dreams and doubts.

I threw out a book on MY PAST
(didn't have time to read it anyway).
Replaced it with New Goals,
Started reading it today.
I threw out childhood toys
(remember how I treasured them so)?
Got me a NEW PHILOSOPHY too,
Threw out the one from long ago.

Bought in some new books too,
Called I CAN, I WILL, and I MUST.
Threw out I might, I think and I ought.
WOW, You should've seen the dust.
I ran across an OLD FRIEND,
Haven't seen him in a while.
I believe his name is GOD,
Yes, I really like His style.

He helped me to do some cleaning
And added some thing's Himself.
Like PRAYER, HOPE and FAITH,
Yes I placed them right on the shelf.
I picked up this special thing
And placed it at the front door.
I FOUND IT - its called PEACE.
Nothing gets me down anymore.

Yes, I've got my house looking nice.
Looks good around the place.
For things like Worry and Trouble
There just isn't any place.
Its good to do a little house cleaning,
Get rid of the old things on the shelf.
It sure makes things brighter,
Maybe you should TRY IT YOURSELF.

JESUS REALLY LOVES YOU

Every Sunday afternoon, after the morning service at their church, the
Pastor and his 11-year-old son would go out into their town and hand
out Gospel tracts. This particular Sunday afternoon, as it came time
for the Pastor and his son to go to the streets with their tracts, it
was very cold outside as well as pouring down rain. The boy bundled up
in his warmest and driest clothes and said "Okay Dad, I'm ready."

His Pastor Dad asked, "Ready for what?

"Dad, it's time we gather our tracts together and go out."

Dad responds, "Son, it's very cold outside and it's pouring down
rain."

The boy gives his Dad a surprised look, asking, "But Dad, aren't
people still going to H ell, even though it's raining?"

Dad answers, "Son, I am not going out in this weather."

Despondently the boy asks, "Dad, can I go -- Please?"

His father hesitated for a moment then said, "Son, you can go. Here's
the tracts; be careful son."

"Thanks, Dad!" And with that he was off and out into the rain. This 11-
year-old boy walked the streets of the town going door-to-door and
handing everybody he met in the street a Gospel tract. After 2-hours
of walking in the rain he was soaking bone-chilled wet and down to his
very last tract. He stopped on a corner and looked for someone to hand
a tract to but the streets were totally deserted.

Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the
sidewalk to the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the bell --
but nobody answered. He rang it again and again bit still no one
answered. He waited but still no answer. Finally this 11-year-old
trooper turned to leave but something stopped him. Again, he turned to
the door and rang the bell and knocked loudly on the door with his
fist. He waited, something holding him there on the front porch. He
rang again, and this time the door slowly opened. Standing in the
doorway was a very sad looking elderly lady.

She softly asked, "What can I do for you, son?"

With radiant eyes and a smile that lit up her world, this little boy
said, "Ma'am, I'm sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell
you that JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU! I came to give you my very last
Gospel tract which will tell you all about Jesus and His great love."
With that he handed her his last tract, and turned to leave.

She called to him as he departed, "Thank you, son! And God bless you!"

Well, the following Sunday morning in church, Pastor Dad was in the
pulpit and as the service began he asked, "Does anybody have a
testimony or want to say anything?"

Slowly, in the back row of the church, an elderly lady stood to her
feet. As she began to speak, a look of glorious radiance came from her
face. "None of you in this church know me. I've never been here
before. You see, before last Sunday I was not a Christian. My husband
has passed on, some time ago, leaving me totally alone in this world.
Last Sunday, being a particularly cold and rainy day, it was even more
so in my heart as I came to the end of the line where I no longer had
any hope or will to live.

"So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the stairway into the attic
of my home. I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in the roof then
stood on the chair and fastened the other end of the rope around my
neck. "Standing on that chair, so lonely and brokenhearted, I was
about to leap off when suddenly the loud ringing of my doorbell
downstairs startled me. I thought, 'I'll wait a minute, and whoever it
is will go away.' "I waited and waited -- but the ringing doorbell
seemed to get louder and more insistent and then the person ringing
also started knocking loudly. I thought to myself again,
'Who on earth could this be?! Nobody ever rings my bell or comes to
see me!' "I loosened the rope from my neck and started for the front
door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder. When I opened the
door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes! "There on my front
porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy I had ever seen in
my life! His smile! Oh, I could never describe it to you! And the
words that came from his mouth caused my heart, that had long been
dead, to leap to life as he exclaimed with cherub-like voice, 'Ma'am,
I just came to tell you that JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU.' "Then he
gave me this Gospel tract that I now hold in my hand. As the little
angel disappeared back out, into the cold and rain, I closed my
door and read slowly every word of this Gospel tract. Then I went up
to my attic to get my rope and chair. I wouldn't be needing them any
more.

"You see, I am now a happy child of the KING, and since the address of
your church was on the back of this Gospel tract I have come here to
personally say, 'Thank you to God's little angel who came just in the
nick of time, and by so doing, spared my soul from an eternity in
H ell.'"

There were now no dry eyes in the church. As shouts of praise and
honor to the KING resounded off the very rafters of the building,
Pastor Dad descended from the pulpit to the front pew where the little
angel was seated. He took him in his arms and sobbed uncontrollably.

Probably no church has had a more glorious moment and probably this
Universe has never seen a Papa that was more filled with love and
honor for his son, except for one: This Father, God, also allowed His
Son, Jesus, to go out into a cold and dark world. He received His Son
back with joy unspeakable, and as all of Heaven shouted praises and
honor to the King, the Father sat His beloved Son on a throne far
above all principality and power and every name that is named. There
may be someone, reading this, who is also going through a dark, cold
and lonely time in your soul. You may be a Christian, for we are not
without problems, or you may not yet know the King. Whatever the case,
and whatever the problem or situation you find yourself in, and no
matter how dark it may seem, I want you to know that I just came to
tellyou, "JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU!"

Forgive me Lord
For the wrongs I have done.
For anger I shouldn't have
Against anyone.

I know I'm weak Lord,
But I love You, I really do,
And in spite of my weakness,
I know You love me too.

Forgive me for not reading Your word,
And for the times that I stray.
Forgive me for just being too tired
When I don't take the time to pray.

Give me the strength, Lord
To do what I should each day.
Let Your love shine through me
So others will follow Your way.

Even though I've failed You Lord,
I know You'll forgive me,
And this I promise Lord,
A better Christian I will be.

For Your presence is in me
Filling my heart with Your love,
And I have Your reassurance
You're guiding from above.

I love You Lord, and thank You
For the blessings You bestow,
I will tell others about You
So Your goodness they too, will
know.
