Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello my friends! A little early but I want to get this thread out now instead of later. Father Jerry is coming over for supper tonight and we'll have a nice visit - really looking forward to it!!! He's such a fun person to have around!!! Got a lot of work done today - took a shower and now waiting for my hair to dry - and we're making our homemade sausage patties to treat him tonight, along with hash browns, sweet potato fries, salad and some vegetable. Praise God Linus had a great day at work today - he sold alot and really enjoyed it! Thanks be to God!

Never let what you can't do get in the way of what you can do. Lord,
help me to recognize my abilities and focus only on my strengths so that
each day I will get nearer to my goals.

Scripture for the day:

"The greatest among you will be your servant. All who exalt themselves will
be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted." ~Matthew
23:11-12

Meditation for the day:

When trouble comes, we need not say: "Why should this happen to me?"
We can leave ourselves out of the picture. We can think of other people and
their troubles and we can forget about our own. Gradually, we can get away
from ourselves and we can know the consolation of unselfish service to
others. After a while, it will not matter so much what happens to us. It
is not so important any more, except as our experience can be used to help
others who are in the same kind of trouble.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may become more unselfish. I pray that I may not be thrown
off the track by letting the old selfishness creep back into my life.

WHY ME?

I asked God why I wasn't rich.
And He showed me a man with the wealth of a thousand kings, who was lonely,
and had no one to share it with.

I asked God why I wasn't beautiful.
And He showed me a woman more beautiful than any other, who was ugly
because of her vanity.

I asked God why he'd allowed me to become old.
And He showed me a boy of 16, who lay dead at the scene of a car accident.

I asked God why I didn't have a bigger house.
And He showed me a family of six, who'd just been evicted from their tiny
shack, and were forced to live on the street.

I asked God why I had to work.
And He showed me a man who couldn't find a decent job, because he'd never
learned to read.

I asked God why I wasn't more popular.
And He showed me a socialite with a thousand friends, who all left the
moment the money and parties were no longer there.

I asked God why I wasn't smarter.
And He showed me a natural born genius, who was serving life in prison for
making ill use of his knowledge.

I asked God why He put up with a thankless sinner like me.
And He showed me His Bible, and His Son who took my place at the judgment.
And I knew then how much He loved me.

What's eating you today?
Are your problems weighing heavy on your heart?

Know, then, that you are loved.
And have a WONDERFUL day!
Then brighten someone else's day, in any way you care to.

Remember, a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.
Just reach out and touch someone's life and brighten up their day.

BECAUSE

Because He finished His Father's work,
. . . your life has worth.

Because He was forsaken,
. . . you will never be alone.

Because He was buried,
. . . you can be raised.

Because He lives,
. . . you don't have to be afraid.

Because He was raised,
. . . you can be strong.

Because He reached down to you,
. . . you don't have to work your way up to Him.

Because His promises are always true,
. . . you can have Hope!

Prayer for the Grace of the Passion

O Lord, for the redemption of the world, you willed to be born among human
beings, subjected to the rite of circumcision, rejected by the people,
betrayed by Judas with a kiss, bound with cords, led like an innocent lamb
to slaughter, shamelessly exposed to the gaze of Annas as well as Caiaphas,
Pilate, and Herod, accused by false witnesses, tormented by scourges and
insults, spat upon and crowned with thorns, struck with blows of hand and
reed, blindfolded and stripped of your garments, affixed to the wood and
lifted high on the Cross, numbered among thieves, given gall and vinegar to
drink, and pierced by a lance.

Lord, by these most holy sufferings which we, your unworthy servants,
devoutly call to mind, and by your holy Cross and death, deliver us from the
pains of h ell, and be pleased to take us where you took the penitent thief
who was crucified with you. You live and reign with the Father and the Holy
Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.

An Angelic Poem:
HELLO GOD !

I'm calling for a blessing
Oh no, it's not for me
For all my special friends
The hearts I always see ...

Ones who need an extra hug
A special gentle kiss
Been thinking of them lately
So I thought I'd ask You this ...

Life is pretty hard now
For some of my sweet friends
So thought I'd ask this favor
I know Your love does mend ...

Each one of them so special
I'd like for them to know
I'm pulling for them daily
Within my heart they glow ...

So Jesus just one favor
It's all I ask of You
Give my friends a message
A blessing maybe two ...

Give to them Your softness
Let them know You care
Their hearts are truly hurting
I know You will repair ...

Thank you for this privilege
To speak so candidly
I'll stop by to see you later
I need a hug for me ...

Meditations by Padre Pio
May Mary be the star which shines on your path, and May she show you the
safe way to reach the Heavenly Father. May she be like an anchor to which
you must be more closely attached in time of trial.

Just Pedal

At first I saw God as my observer, my judge,
keeping track of the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited
heaven or h ell when I die. He was out there sort of like a president. I
recognized his picture when I saw it, but I really didn't know Him.

But later on, when I met God,
it seemed as though life were rather like a bike ride,
but it was a tandem bike, and I noticed that God was at the back, helping me
pedal.

I don't know when it was that he suggested
that we change places, but life has not been the same since. When I had
control I knew the way. It was rather boring, but predictable. It was the
shortest distance between two points. But when he took the lead, He knew
delightful long cuts, up mountains, and through rocky places at breakneck
speeds. It was all I could do to hang on!

Even though it looked like madness, He said, "Pedal!"
I worried and was anxious and asked, "Where are you taking me?" He laughed
and didn't answer! and I started to learn to trust. I forgot my boring life
and entered into the adventure. And when I'd say "I'm scared,"
He'd lean back and touch my hand.

He took me to people with gifts that I needed; gifts of healing, acceptance
and joy. They gave me gifts to take on my journey. And we were off again. He
said, 'Give the gifts away; they're extra baggage, too much weight.' So I
did, to the people we met, and I found that in giving I received, and still
our burden was light.

I did not trust Him, at first, in control of my life. I thought He'd wreck
it; but he knows bike secrets, knows how to make it bend to take sharp
corners, knows how to jump to clear high rocks, knows how to fly to shorten
scary passages. And I am learning to shut up and pedal in the strangest
places, and I'm beginning to enjoy the view and the cool breeze on my face
with God as my
delightful constant companion.

And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore, He just smiles and says,

"Pedal!"

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hi Gloria, I'm praying very hard for Darla, I have missed the thread for a couple of days. I got caught up today, Sunday, and read about Darla and the job I sure hope and pray that she is successful in her negotiations. I will be praying all day for her, and just keep saying my rosary tonight until I fall asleep.

Counting my Blessings.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Good Sunday morning!

I hope that your day is filled with many blessings, known and unknown. As Gloria calls them, ordinary blessings. Those are the best!

Some days I miss posting and reading. I do go back and read past posts at one time or another. Please know that I do pray for all of you when I read of your needs. God's got it!

I'm thankful for another beautiful day and for the peace I find in knowing the Lord.

Be still, and know.

It's a beautiful day here. Very thankful for our GS being with us this week-end.

All is well, and what isn't - well, I have to learn to let it be.

Have a nice Sunday, everyone.
