Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello my friends! Today I was busy, and got a lot done and that's a blessing! Yesterday I ordered VICk's cough drops from Amazon - now they are shipped, looking forward to them because they are the only ones that worked for me. Had a phone call from Darla and they will be coming for overnight tonight - she always ends with "love you!" which is always precious to hear. Then I think of my sister's daughter, Terri, who no one knows where she is, she's separated herself from her family and all of us. Deil is 90, for Heaven's sake, she should at least come to her before she dies and reconciles. I'm praying daily for her.

Praying for all who has asked prayers here- and remember if you want me to put your name or the one's name you want prayed for on my Glory of God prayer line, I go by just first names, not nics.

Remember that God always does what He promises. Lord, where others

bargain, You freely give, when others are too busy, You listen and when

others let me down, You never fail me. Thank You for all of my blessings.

Scripture for the day:

"Through Christ you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the

dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God."

~1 Peter 1:21

Meditation for the day:

God's miracle-working power is as manifest today as it was in the past.

It still works miracles of change in lives and miracles of healing in

troubled minds. When a person trusts wholly in God and leaves to God the

choosing of the day and hour, there is God's miracle-working power becoming

manifest in that person's life. We can trust in God and have boundless

faith in

God's power to make us whole again.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may feel sure that there is nothing that God cannot

accomplish in changing my life. I pray that I may have faith in God's

miracle-working power.

He was going to leave, but

One day an elderly surgeon said to an aging bishop, "Bishop, I just want to

inform you that I'm thinking about leaving the Church. What do you say about

that?"

The bishop asked the medical man if he could give him a few reasons for his

decision. The doctor looked the bishop squarely in the eye and told him that

he was highly disappointed with the Church and all it stood for. "Look," he

explained, "the Church has been around for over a thousand years and today

people are no better than they ever were. Or would you care to deny that?"

"What you say is absolutely right, doctor," said the bishop. "But look at it

this way: we've had water on this earth for millions of years, and you still

go and get your hands dirty every day, don't you?"

The doctor thought that one over, put on his hat, and disappeared from the

bishop's sight. Incidentally, he never left the Church.

My Wish For You

House Cleaning

Last Week I threw out WORRYING,

It was getting old and in the way.

It kept me from being me,

I couldn't do things my way.

I threw out those inhibitions,

They were just crowding me out.

Made room for my New Growth,

Got rid of my old dreams and doubts.

I threw out a book on MY PAST

(didn't have time to read it anyway).

Replaced it with New Goals,

Started reading it today.

I threw out childhood toys

(remember how I treasured them so)?

Got me a NEW PHILOSOPHY too,

Threw out the one from long ago.

Bought in some new books too,

Called I CAN, I WILL, and I MUST.

Threw out I might, I think and I ought.

WOW, You should've seen the dust.

I ran across an OLD FRIEND,

Haven't seen him in a while.

I believe his name is GOD,

Yes, I really like His style.

He helped me to do some cleaning

And added some thing's Himself.

Like PRAYER, HOPE and FAITH,

Yes I placed them right on the shelf.

I picked up this special thing

And placed it at the front door.

I FOUND IT - its called PEACE.

Nothing gets me down anymore.

Yes, I've got my house looking nice.

Looks good around the place.

For things like Worry and Trouble

There just isn't any place.

Its good to do a little house cleaning,

Get rid of the old things on the shelf.

It sure makes things brighter,

Maybe you should TRY IT YOURSELF

Christian Wisdom

Smile at each other,

smile at your wife,

smile at your husband,

smile at your children,

smile at each other --

it doesn't matter who it is --

and that will help you to grow up in greater love for each other.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Today's readings 4/27/14
Acts 2:42-47; 2-4, 13-15, 22-24; 1Pet.1:3-9; Jn.20:19-31
I think the single most nagging question we hear raised by atheists and agnostics is how can we believe in a God "you cannot see", a problem today's readings reveal has existed since the birth of our church even among it's founders. I don't think there's much we can do for people like that other than pray for them and try to live what we believe as a living testimony to how faith has transformed us, and as I reflected on the "commissioning" of the apostles in today's Gospel it became clear to me that that's all God really asks us to do. On this special day when the church celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday our readings challenge us to become vessels of mercy by embracing that common need for God's Mercy that we all share with one another that binds us together, something we see in the community of believers described in our first reading today. Selfless compassion and a loving concern for the needs of others is what I believe defines us as Christians more than anything else, and what fuels that Fire of Love is that Divine Mercy every one of us is given the opportunity to share the benefits of. And so on this special day when the church celebrates and rejoices in the Infinite Mercy of God let us pray for the grace we need to keep that Fire of Love burning within us that only Divine Mercy can fuel so those "Doubting Thomas" skeptics we meet will be able to see Christ in us through the mercy and love we show toward them so they too will come to believe in The One "you have not seen".
God bless you,

Good Morning to all.

The National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA is a beautiful place.

Gloriajean: Have you tried Jakeman's lozenges? The anise flavor is wonderful. They also have honey/lemon, cherry, and a new peppermint. I remember as kids we always had Smith Brothers and Luden's. lol

bobbiesue: Hope you are feeling better today.

Have a peaceful Sunday, all.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Good Sunday Morning:

Gloriajean.......Thank you for putting DH on your prayer list and for your continuing prayers. Right now prayers seem to be the only thing I have left. I prayed so hard before the test hoping for the best. I am trying to hold on to the hope that those prayers are reserved for this coming week, which will be the deciding factor on treatment. Right now things just don't look too good. Our church is having a Divine Mercy Service this afternoon. I have gone in the past, but have not attended recently. Again, thank you.

Bobbisue & Cakers......Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts.

Enjoy the rest of the day and God Bless!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Cakers - I have never heard of those lozenges. As a kid I remember the Smith Brothers and Ludens too, but Vicks is what always helped me. Believe me, my polio cough is wick-ed. I have to divide that word! I make a terrible noise - and this rainy cold weather isn't helping.

I bet that National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge is beautiful indeed!! To think that Jesus Himself came to Sister Faustina to give the world the Chaplet to say for the world to have His Mercy and look how it's been spread - all over the world. Now Saint Faustina, and how Pope John Paul II had much devotion to the Divine Mercy, now became a Saint on this Feast Day - Wow! Along with John twenty-third in our lifetime. Good for Pope Francis!!

shorelady - On this prayer line with is part of my list that I've been doing for the last 12 years, I've got 2 for sure maybe 3 Poor Clare Nuns praying, Some Benedictine Sisters, one convent of Franciscans, and many other people like you and me who are willing to pray for others. I've even got some on there from South Africa, a priest. I have some people on my list from Germany, S. Africa, Canada, England, that I can remember - and I praise the Lord always for these wonderful people! I'm only a little instrument - He does all the work! Praying for a healing for your dear, dear husband. God bless both of you.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Good afternoon!

My computer is acting crazy again so it takes me a few minutes to get on. So aggravating!!!

I hope everyone is having a peaceful Sunday. Bad weather may be headed our way so please keep several states in your prayers. It's been 3 years today since the horribe, destructive tornadoes hit our state so the word of bad weather has people on edge.

Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. Peace and blessings.

Be still, and know.
