Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Choose the direction of your day and then make a point of enjoying your
choices.
Lord, help me to do what I can when I can, but also, help me to know when
doing
nothing is the better choice.

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I
will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am
gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my
yoke is easy, and my burden is light." ~Matthew 11:28-30

In our times of meditation we can seem to hear: "Come to me, all you that
are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Again
and again we can seem to hear God saying this to us. "Come to me" for the
solution of every problem, for the overcoming of every temptation, for the
calming of every fear, for all our needs ... physical, mental or spiritual,
but mostly "come to me" for the strength we need to live with peace of mind
and the power to be useful and effective.

I pray that I may go to God today for those things which I need to help me
live. I pray that I may find real peace of mind.

Hello my friends! Another day spent working hard on my list - I stayed up
until 1 AM last night organizing it and sending out invites to the Padre Pio
reflections. I got about 20 signed up already for it, so I got some typing
done already. I have over 200 members on the list in several different
categories. I've been doing this for over 11 years. For the Homily of the
Day I've got over 100 signed up for that alone! My back-up is Nadine in
Finland who sends me most of the material I use and she takes over my list
when I'm gone. I call her my Secretary. Today was hard on Linus - he had a
long day and his feet were hurting, but not his knee, thank God! It hasn't
been bothering him lately. Linus got Darla's birthday card today - late but
oh so sweet! He was very touched with it. Both girls gave him such nice,
touching cards with their sentiments in them, too. We save them. Darla
called him on his birthday and talked over an hour! My blessings today was
getting a lot done today with my list and getting it updated. I have a
feeling I'm going to bed early tonight - had very little sleep and no nap!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I'm so thankful that he has off
tomorrow and that next Saturday he's off. Praise the Lord!

Good Things To Remember

Stop trying to please others - it doesn't work.
Start pleasing yourself.

Make sure your shoe souls are clean when you're walking through someone
else's life.

Upon awakening each day, use the following quotation.. " Thank You God, for
this day...
let's get out there and see what wonderful stuff we can accomplish
"TOGETHER".

Always praise a person for a job well done.

Praise your children often.

Words we should say more often: "LOVE YOU".

Never say good-bye or good night to your husband, child, mother, father,
dear friends, without making sure they've heard or felt your "LOVE YOU"
message.

Remember that the world does not expect you to be more than you are capable
of being, but it does expect you to try to live up to all that you were
created for.

You can't turn back the clock, but you can wind it up again.

Five Minutes to Spare

No matter how busy you are, you could spend five minutes:

To answer the telephone
To read the morning paper
To talk with a neighbor
To dispute with the laundryman about a mistake
To watch new furniture being unloaded next door
To chatter with a salesman
To read a trivial letter
Or to write one.

It takes only five minutes:

To say a prayer for the suffering friend
To read a chapter in "The Following of Christ"
To stop and think of God's daily gift of mercy
To remember the cross
To thank our Blessed Mother for her care of us
To make an act of faith, hope, and love
To whisper an "Our Father" or "Hail Mary" for someone in need
To say a decade of the Rosary for the pour souls
To visit the little statue or picture on the mantleplace and tell the Savior
how much you love Him
To make a spiritual communion.

Which is the better way to spend five minutes?

Psalm 106:6–7, 19–23
They forgot God their Savior who had done great things in Egypt. (v. 21)

“You are what you eat.” Spiritually we might say, “You are what you pray.” A
distinctive Anglican emphasis is that prayer shapes believing. Jesus taught
this. The German theologian Helmut Thielicke says of prayer, “We are always
echoes. The only question is echoes of what?” Do we echo a broken world or a
healing God? Jesus commended one prayer to learn. Just one, that’s it.
Breathed deep inside of us, the prayer becomes a part of us. Exhale and
live. Don’t let anyone kid you, a regular prayer life isn’t easy. It takes a
commitment. Jesus showed how to start and what to say. This Lent let this
prayer be as daily as your bread. See if it changes your day, and maybe even
your life.

Lord,
what you ask of my life seems so right.
It is how I want to live,
following your Son, Jesus, so closely.
And yet I fail so often to stay on that path.
I cannot do it alone, loving Lord.
I need your help and guidance.
I need to remember your love for me
and I want to remember
how very much I need you in my life.
