Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello my friends! Today Lori came over and we bottled about 5 bottles of cranberry apple wine and started a new batch of blackberry/raspberry. This is our third batch and just for fun. Then we went to his office party - a good dinner, and bean bag games - all got partners and played, I won one game with my partner, lost the second, it was fun. Linus didn't win, but it still was fun. They're still at it, but we went home - had some loud music on, I wonder why that's important! Got a headache from the noise. It was a fun night anyway. Met some nice people there. First time I saw where Linus works. Got to see all the new appliances! Praying for you all!

Sometimes the biggest blessing of the day is that which didn't happen.
Lord, thank You for my ordinary day, a day in which my loved ones
have remained safe and healthy.
S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"Jesus straightened up and said to the woman caught in adultery, 'Woman,
where are they? Has no one condemned you?' She said, 'No one, sir.' And
Jesus said, 'Neither do I condemn you. Go your way, and from now on do not
sin again.'" ~John 8:10-11

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

I can start a new life each day. I can put away the old mistakes and start
anew each day. God always offers me a fresh start. I need not be burdened
or anxious. If God's forgiveness were only for the righteous and those who
had not sinned, where would be its need? I believe that God forgives us all
our sins. We can honestly try to live today the way God wants us to live.
God forgives us much and we can be very grateful.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that my life may not be spoiled by worry and fear and selfishness. I
pray that I may have a glad, thankful and humble heart.

"Stepping Stones"

The Lord came to me like a dream one day and asked, "why do you sorrow?"
I answered, "Lord my life is so full of pain, I can't face one more tomorrow."

The Lord sat down beside me, and gently took my hand.
He said, "Let Me explain to you, and then you'll understand.

Each sorrow is a stepping stone you must surmount each day,
And every stepping stone you climb is a sorrow that's passed away.

The road of life is a mountainside, with crevices in which to be caught,
But as you struggle on your way, I, the Rock, will lend support.

Every stepping stone you climb, makes spirit and heart grow strong.
Exercising character and faith, this road seems painful and long.

The way is paved with stepping stones, to uplift your heart and soul,
Though difficult, they aid your way, to a City paved with gold.

I know that you are tired, for I too have walked this way,
My sorrows did they multiply, but I cleared many stones away.

I left My Rock to lift you up, I left behind My story.
To give you strength to make your climb, to that special place in glory.

And never fear, the Rock is here, you'll never climb this mountain alone.
Surmount life's sorrows, continue on, for they are but stepping stones.

Paradoxes Of A Child Of God

Strong enough to be weak;
Successful enough to fail;
Busy enough to take time;
Wise enough to say, "I don't know."
Serious enough to laugh.

Rich enough to be poor;
Right enough to say "I'm wrong."
Compassionate enough to discipline;
Conservative enough to give freely;
Mature enough to be childlike.

Righteous enough to be a sinner;
Important enough to be last;
Courageous enough to fear God;
Planned enough to be spontaneous;
Controlled enough to be flexible.

Free enough to endure captivity;
Knowledgeable enough to ask questions;
Loving enough to be angry;
Great enough to be anonymous;
Responsible enough to play.

Assured enough to be rejected;
Stable enough to cry;
Victorious enough to lose;
Industrious enough to relax;
Leading enough to serve.

Pass this on...

The Power of Prayer

The power of prayer is really tremendous. It makes one like a queen who can
approach the king at any time and get whatever she asks for. To be sure of an
answer, there is no need to recite from a book a formula composed for the
occasion. If there were, I should have to be pitied.

Though I'm quite unworthy, I love to say the Divine Office every day, but
apart from that I cannot bring myself to hunt through books for beautiful
prayers. There are so many of them that I get a headache. Besides, each
prayer seems lovelier than the next. I cannot possibly say them all and do
not know which to choose. I behave like children who cannot read: I tell God
very simply what I want, and He always understands.

For me, prayer is an upward leap of the heart, an untroubled glance toward
heaven, a cry of gratitude and love which I utter from the depths of sorrow
as well as from the heights of joy. It has a supernatural grandeur that
expands the soul and unites it with God.

------St. Therese of Lisieux

January 31

I am your Strength and Shield. I plan out each day and have it ready for you, long before you arise from bed. I also provide the strength you need each step of the way. Instead of assessing your energy level and wondering about what’s on the road ahead, concentrate on staying in touch with Me. My Power flows freely into you through our open communication. Refuse to waste energy worrying, and you will have strength to spare.

Whenever you start to feel afraid, remember that I am your Shield. But unlike inanimate armor, I am always alert and active. My Presence watches over you continually, protecting you from both known and unknown dangers. Entrust yourself to My watchcare, which is the best security system available. I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.
—Psalm 28:7

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
—Matthew 6:34

When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?
—Psalm 56:3–4

“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
—Genesis 28:15 - From Jesus Calling

It is snowing here and turning to freezing rain. I don't dare go out side for fear of breaking my good hip. I'm stuck inside, I guess. It is really coming down.

Blessings to all here. May God answer all your prayers. Glad your daughter is feeling better Gloria. Praise the Lord! Have a good day and stay safe. God bless you all.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello Everyone!

We're in for the wintery mix today too, and there's a light snow falling that started about noon. I made a big pot of soup for supper, so I can relax for the afternoon. Yesterday I managed to clear out a medium size cabinet I had brought home from my folks house. I'm thrilled that it's now completely empty!!! It wasn't packed full, but I didn't want to start adding storage areas we didn't need.

Gloria, Sounds like the card decision was the right one. I hope the wine is delicious!

BobbieSue, Good plan to stay put in the midst of the wintery mix. That's our plan too.

Harlene, Hope your snowfall is minimal. I did stop for some groceries yesterday, as I had to go to the hardware store. More to have a better variety for lunch than a weather run. Mass this morning was nice as we got the blessing of St.Blaze for the throat. Have a good day! pinky

Hello Harlene, Bobbiesue and Pinky Ann! It's 2 above zero here now, Brr! But no snow, so won't complain. Sounds like you three are sure getting it. Yes, Pinky Ann, we feel peace about quitting the card club. Once less thing to have to do every month.
