Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello my friends! Went to a wonderful talk today - Matthew Kelly spoke at a neighboring Church - he's from Australia and on the road evangelizing for the Lord - he's very good to listen to, has an Australian accent, but easy to understand, and he's very humorous too. Got picked up by Ann, and she picked up a couple more ladies and we all enjoyed it, and I saw my friend, Lorraine, there too! Had a nice visit with her. Got a lot out of today, and will incorporate in my prayers. For one thing I thought interesting, so many say that Mass is boring, he says that at Mass we should ask God how we should be the best person the rest of the week and listen for His answer. He calls this a Mass journal - and he keeps them on file and finds this very important. All week you are trying to fulfill God's will in your life! Anyway, there are lots of things he talked about that were very interesting. He's an author of many books too. That was my biggest blessing for today and shareingLinus's "Miracle" with Lorraine! He had another good day at work today! Praise the Lord!

Choose the direction of your day and then make a point of enjoying your

choices.

Lord, help me to do what I can when I can, but also, help me to know when

doing

nothing is the better choice.

Scripture for the day:

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I

will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am

gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my

yoke is easy, and my burden is light." ~Matthew 11:28-30

Meditation for the day:

In our times of meditation we can seem to hear: "Come to me, all you that

are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Again

and again we can seem to hear God saying this to us. "Come to me" for the

solution of every problem, for the overcoming of every temptation, for the

calming of every fear, for all our needs ... physical, mental or spiritual,

but mostly "come to me" for the strength we need to live with peace of mind

and the power to be useful and effective.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may go to God today for those things which I need to help me

live. I pray that I may find real peace of mind.

The Inner Voice

To be heard, the inner voice of our wisdom requires

a daily shower of stillness and prayer.

In addition, awakened senses are needed,

as is a deep trust of God's love and enduring goodness.

Trusting and reverencing the still, small voice of inner truth

is precious to God, others and us.

Prayer to Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, longing to love Jesus as He had never been loved

before, you gave yourself entirely to Him, refusing Him nothing. In union

with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, you accepted His call to satiate His

infinite thirst for love and souls and became a carrier of His love to the

poorest of the poor. With loving trust and total surrender you fulfilled

His will, witnessing to the joy of belonging totally to Him. You became so

intimately united to Jesus your crucified Spouse that He deigned to share

with you the agony of His Heart as He hung upon the Cross.

Blessed Teresa, you promised to continuously bring the light of love to

those on earth; pray for us that we also may long to satiate the burning

thirst of Jesus by loving Him ardently, sharing in His sufferings joyfully,

and serving Him wholeheartedly in our brothers and sisters, especially those

most unloved and unwanted. Amen.

Times Of Our Lives

There will be times in all of our lives

where we're treated very harshly and unfair.

And no matter how hard we look for the justice

we find that it just isn't there.

When we're offended and in pain, our normal response

is to retaliate and somehow repay.

For we want that person to see how it feels

to have the heartache we're feeling that day.

But as natural as it seems to want to get even

it's the opposite of what God says is true.

For He is desiring that His servants be different

and be Christ-like in all that we do.

As incredible as it sounds, He wants us to repay them

with a blessing instead of more pain.

And He will give us the power we need to be kind

and the strength we need to refrain.

We have to trust Him and fully believe Him

Knowing His ways truly are best.

We have to be encouraged knowing He saw the injustice

and let Him give us comfort and rest.

The person who offends us is not declared innocent

by the kindness we place on their head.

But God takes all the heartache retaliation would bring us

and gives us a blessing instead.

Prayer for Guidance

Come, Holy Spirit, fill my heart

And kindle within me the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit, O God.

And renew the face of the earth.

As you have taught all your people by the light of the Holy Spirit,

Grant that by the gift of the same Spirit I may find wisdom

and always rejoice in you peace. A

Broken Spirit

I have heard there is a monastery in Greece perched high on a cliff, several

hundred feet in the air. The only way to reach it is to be suspended in a

basket which is pulled to the top by several monks who pull and tug with all

their strength. Obviously the ride up the steep cliff in that basket is

terrifying.

One tourist got exceedingly nervous about halfway up as he noticed that the

rope by which he was suspended was old and frayed. With a trembling voice he

asked the monk who was riding with him in the basket how often they changed

the rope. The monk thought for a moment and answered serenely, "Whenever it

breaks."

We are shocked that someone would wait that long before changing the rope.

It makes sense that the rope ought to be changed long before reaching that

point. But it dawned on me that God operates the same way in our lives.

If we ask God when He will change our lives, His answer might be, "Whenever

you break." You see, our lives can only change once we have what the Bible

refers to as a "broken spirit." As long as we remain arrogant and determined

to do things our way, God can't shape us and mold us. Like a wild stallion,

we remain useless until we are "broken."

--Alan Smith

Prayer of Spouses for Each Other

Lord Jesus, grant that I and my spouse may have a true and understanding

love for each other. Grant that we may both be filled with faith and trust.

Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony. May we

always bear with one another' s weaknesses and grow from each other´s

strengths. Help us to forgive one another' s failings and grant us

patience,

kindness, cheerfulness and the spirit of placing the well-being of one

another ahead of self.

May the love that brought us together grow and mature with each passing

year. Bring us both ever closer to You through our love for each other.

Let our love grow to perfection. Amen.

It Takes Courage To Be A Christian!

It takes courage to refrain from gossip when others delight in it, to stand

up for the absent person who is being abused.

It takes courage to live honestly within your means, and not dishonestly on

the means of others.

It takes courage to be a REAL man, a TRUE woman, to hold fast to your ideals

when it causes you to be looked upon as strange and peculiar.

It takes courage to be talked about, and remain silent, when a word would

justify you in the eyes of others, but which you dare not speak because it

would injure another.

It takes courage to refuse to do something that is wrong although everyone

else may be doing it with attitudes as carefree as a summer song.

It takes courage to live according to your own convictions, to deny yourself

what you cannot afford to love your neighbor as yourself, to follow the

example of our risen Lord!

OUR LIFE IS JESUS TO SOMEONE

YOUR LIFE is Jesus to someone,

though tattered and torn it may be.

Though often times weak and unstable,

you're all of God someone will see.

YOUR TONGUE is Jesus to someone.

That idle, insensitive word

reflects to at least one searching heart

an idle, insensitive Lord.

YOUR GOALS are Jesus to someone.

What you put first, they believe,

are the goals of God for the Christian.

Your life is all they receive.

YOUR FAITHFULNESS... that's Jesus to someone.

Their judgement of how God is true,

rests unquestionably in the faithfulness

they see day by day in you.

YOUR LOVE is Jesus to someone--

that someone who is seeking to know

that Jesus will follow and guide and

befriend wherever in life they might go.

SO BEWARE lest others blaspheme

God by what you say or do,

for the only Jesus that someone knows

is the Jesus they see in you.

A traveling preacher finds himself in a tremendous rainstorm.

Within a few hours the hotel he is staying in becomes flooded. As the water

rises, the preacher climbs to the roof and starts praying.

"Lord, save me so I can continue on my mission of preaching your gospel."

Just then, a coast guard rescue party floats by in a rowboat. "Let's go

mister. Into the boat."

"I'll stay here," says the preacher, "The Lord will save me."

An hour later a second boat reaches the scene and the water is close to the

roof of the hotel. "Sir, you better get in. the water is still rising."

"No thanks. The Lord will be my salvation."

Toward evening, the hotel is almost completely under water and the preacher

is clinging to the satellite dish on the roof. A helicopter is spotted and

on a loudspeaker is heard "HSir, grab on to the line and we will pull you

up. This is your last chance.

"I'm all right," says the preacher, as he looks heavenward. "I know the Lord

will provide sanctuary."

As the boat departs, the satellite dish is hit by lightning and the preacher

is killed. When he arrived at the Pearly Gates he was furious.

"What happened, " he shouts. "I thought the Lord would provide!"

Moments later a thunderous voice is heard. "Gimmie a break pal. I sent you 2

boats and a chopper"
