Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Make it your goal to be someone that you would like to spend the rest
of your life with. Lord, help me approach my day interested in everything
that happens so that my life will truly be an adventure.

"If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have
love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal." ~1 Corinthians 13:1

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

"If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have
love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal." Love means to care
enough about other people to really want to do something for them. A
smile, a word of encouragement, a word of love, goes winged on its
way, simple though it may seem, while the mighty words of an orator
can fall on deaf ears. We can use up the odd moments of our day in
trying to do some little thing to cheer up another person. Boredom
can come from thinking too much about ourselves.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that my day may be brightened by some little act of charity. I
pray that I may try today to overcome the self-centeredness that can
bore me.

Greetings everyone! Hope you all had a good day! Beautiful weather here
today again, but heard it’s going to get cold next week – darn!! Like the
high’s in the 50’s. Not looking forward to cold. Not just yet. I tried my
darndest to answer you in the last thread and it just wouldn’t work, so this
is what I tried to say:

dl3776 - Welcome to the positive thread! Come anytime and hope to see you
again here! God bless you, too! Pinky Ann is so right - wonderful ladies
here who are so caring and willing to pray for others.

Pinky Ann - we can be together in doing our apples!! Are you going to freeze
some? That's what I think I'll be doing soon. Freeze sliced for desserts, or
apple pancakes or oatmeal or anything! You are making great progress
upstairs! Good for you but don't overdue! All my sisters and Mom could
crochet and knit - not me! Enjoy it to the fullest and especially when your
dear Mom is still there with you. Love your novels - er - posts, they are
wonderful and don't you dare quit!

Carolina - I'm not fond of fish at all - tolerate it, but don't really like
it. Never had oyster though. We are very blessed to have Fr. Jerry for sure!
He is a very holy man, great for spiritual direction, and he has a great
sense of humor! That's my cousin, Jerry! Hope your day at work was good in
every way.

Sherron - good for you taking a walk by yourself - with your doggies? Then
you're not alone. I'm sure they love walking with you. Sammy sure does.

My blessings today - had a nice visit with Darla on the phone, about an
hour. No fires near where she lives in Arlington, TX. Also talked to a
friend of mine - on the phone! Out to eat - different restaurant - not so
good. Besides my dear family - also talked to Lori on the phone - big
blessing also was our great weather - so nice on the porch all the time all
week!
When I sit out there on the swing I feel blessed!

A father was approached by his small son, who told him proudly, "I
know what the Bible means!"

His father smiled and replied, "What do you mean, you 'know' the
Bible?"

The son replied, "I do know!"

"Okay," said his father. "So, Son, what does the Bible mean?"

"That's easy, Daddy. It stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving
Earth.'"

PSALM 119: 145-152

I call with all my heart; Lord hear me.
I will keep Your commands.
I call upon You, save me
and I will do Your will.

I rise before dawn and cry for help.
I hope in Your Word.
My eyes watch through the night
to ponder Your Promise.

In Your Love hear my voice, O Lord;
give me life by Your decrees.
Those who harm me unjustly draw near;
they are far from Your Law.

But You, O Lord, are close;
Your commands are truth.
Long have I known that Your Will
is established for ever.

Save us by the power of Your Hand, Father,
for our enemies have ignored Your words.

May the fire of Your Word consume our sins
and its' brightness illumine our hearts.
Wisdom of God, be with me, always at work in me.

REFLECTION by Fr. Rick in the Phillipines:

The Gospel story shows the true meaning of forgiveness which is never-
ending. In short, we are never to keep count when it comes to
forgiveness. Seven is a perfect number; its multiples express the
incalculable; seventy times seven pointing to forgiveness that cannot
be limited to a certain number of times. It, however, must be noted
that the parable of the unforgiving servant shows the pardon principle
but does not entirely fit the present context which deals with
multiple acts of forgiveness.

It is not surprising that our initial reaction to the first servant is
anger for his insensitivity and arrogance. How can he not forgive
another fellow servant who owed him less than what he owed his master?
We are baffled at the refusal of the servant whose mammoth debt was
forgiven to delay the repayment of a trifling sum owed to him.

On further reflection, we feel a certain compassion for the
unforgiving servant for we realize that the man somehow represents all
of us. We cannot deny our sinfulness as we have likewise acted and
continue to behave impulsively and inconsistently with what we
believe. Forgetfulness of our own sins leads us to lack of compassion.
Yet to remember how our sins have gone unpunished by God should lead
us to forgive others. As we continue to be recipients of the loving
mercy and forgiveness of God, this, in turn, is to inspire us to do
the same with others. It seems easy to say to hate the sin but not the
sinner. But, in reality, we have difficulty in separating the act from
the one who committed the sin, pain, and hurt to us. There are
emotional blocks that hinder us from forgiving and reaching out to
others especially those who may have hurt us very deeply. Pride or
lack of humility prevents us from being merciful and understanding to
those who have wronged us.

Jesus represents the ultimate symbol of forgiveness. Who, among us,
would not have been hurt with the triple denial of Peter with regard
to his relationship and friendship with Jesus? But, we know how Jesus
realized how weak and frustrated and sorry Peter was. He kept on
believing his apostles and many people. He kept on giving them
chances. He had a true sense of "try and try again." Forgiveness does
not mean being a doormat or not using discretion with persons you deal
with and how. Forgiveness means allowing others to make mistakes while
we keep moving forward.

BLESSINGS THAT COME EACH DAY
Author Unknown

Always remember to forget
the things that made you sad,
But never forget to remember
the things that made you glad

Always remember to forget
the friend's that proved untrue,
But never forget to remember
those that have stuck by you

Always remember to forget
the troubles that passed away
But never forget to remember
the blessings that come each day.

THINKING OF YOU
Author Unknown

Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden you feel
like doing something nice for someone you care for?
THAT'S GOD talking to you through the Holy Spirit.

Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around for you
to talk to?
THAT'S GOD wanting you to talk to Him.

Have you ever been thinking about somebody that you haven't seen in a
long time and then next thing you know you see them or receive a phone
call from them?
THAT'S GOD. There is no such thing as coincidence.

Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn't even ask
for, like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously been
cleared, or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen
something you needed, but couldn't afford?
THAT'S GOD knowing the desires of your heart.

Have you ever been in a situation and you had no clue how it was going
to get better, how the hurting would stop, how the pain would ease,
but now you look back on it.
THAT'S GOD passing us through tribulation to see a brighter day.
