If you look for the light side in all things, you will keep yourself alive
and healthy. Lord, may I be able to see the good in my experiences,
even in my most challenging moments.
Scripture for the day:
I will give you the treasures of darkness and riches hidden in secret
places, so that you may know that it is I, the LORD, the God of
Israel, who call you by your name. ~Isaiah 45:3
Meditation for the day:
"I will give you the treasures of darkness and riches hidden in secret
places, so that you may know that it is I, the LORD, the God of
Israel, who call you by your name." We can dwell for a moment each
day in a secret place, the place of communion with God, apart from the
world, and there receive strength to face the world. Material things
cannot intrude upon this secret place, they cannot not ever find it,
because it is outside the realm of material things. When we abide in
this secret place, we are under the shadow of the Almighty. God is
close to us in this quiet place of communion. Each day, we can dwell
for a while in this secret place.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may renew my strength in quietness. I pray that I may
find rest in quiet communion with God.
Hello my friends! How was your day? Tonight was special - once a month some good friends of ours (very talented) conduct a praise and worship session at St. Mary's Cathedral, with two priests there, and it's very Charismatic. The husband plays guitar and his wife the piano and they sing beautifully - and we all sing along! Such beautiful songs the really lift one's spirits. After the session, we invited Fr. Jerry to Perkins for coffee and visit. It was very nice. Linus actually found out they had a pie there that had no sugar, just the berries own sugars, nothing more added, so we each had a piece of that pie and it was delicious. Darla is driving thru Okla. now - Lori just talked to her. I tried calling her, but no answer. Maybe she was talking to Greg. We will see her tomorrow night at Lori's.
Tonight Lori was invited to a party selling cookware - it's really expensive! $1500 a set - wow! One pan is very high already, like $400. I really like my set - it's expensive too, but got it on Ebay for a fraction of the cost. It's called Carico - all Stainless Steel, it's the same kind Darla has.

Are You Blind?
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
2 Cor 11:18,21-30 / Mt 6:19-23
There are very few of us who cannot see well enough to drive or read or watch TV. We may have to wear glasses or even use magnifying glasses for close tasks, but almost all of us can see what we need to see in order to function from day to day.
That’s on the physical level. But the anomaly is that on another, deeper level, the majority of us don’t know how to see what we need to see just to get along where it really counts.
We don’t see the impact that even the tiniest of our actions and choices have upon our neighbors. We don’t see most of the consequences of the things we do. We don’t see the simple things that our neighbors need us to be and do for them. We don’t see the big picture the Lord sees.
Jesus says that “if your eyes are good, your body will be filled with light.” We’ll be blind until we give our eyes to him. He will fill us with light, and we’ll know with confidence where to take our next step.
Mother Teresa said...
Many people think that having money makes you happy. I think it must be harder to be happy if you are wealthy because you may find it difficult to see God; you'll have too many other things to think about. However, if God has given you this gift of wealth, then use it for His purpose - help others, help the poor, create jobs, give work to others. Don't waste your wealth. Having food, a home, dignity, freedom, health and an education are all of God's gifts too, which is why we must help those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
ALL HE HAD TO OFFER
Author Unknown
Here is a story, about a nine year old boy who lived in a rural town
in Tennessee. His house was in a poor area of the community. A church
there had a bus ministry that came knocking on his door one Saturday
afternoon.
The child came to answer the door and greeted the bus pastor.
The bus pastor asked if his parents were home and the small boy told
him that his parents take off every weekend and leave him at home to
take care of his little brother. The bus pastor couldn't believe what
the child said and asked him to repeat it. The youngster gave the same
answer and the bus pastor asked to come in and talk with him. They
went into the living room and sat down on an old couch with the foam
and springs exposed. The bus pastor asked the child, "Where do you go
to church?"
The young boy surprised the visitor by replying, "I've never been to
church in my whole life." The bus pastor thought to himself about the
fact that his church was less than three miles from the child's
house.
"Are you sure you have never been to church?" he asked again.
"I'm sure I haven't," came his answer.
Then the bus pastor said, "Well, son, more important than going to
church, have you ever heard the greatest love story ever told?" and
then he proceeded to share the Gospel with this little nine year old
boy.
The young lad's heart began to be tenderized and at the end of the bus
pastor's story, the bus pastor asked if the boy wanted to receive this
free gift from God. The youngster exclaimed, "OF COURSE!"
The child and the bus pastor got on their knees and the lad invited
Jesus into his little heart and received the free gift of salvation.
They both stood up and the bus pastor asked if he could pick the child
up for church the next morning.
"Sure," the nine year old replied.
The bus pastor got to the house early the next morning and found the
lights off. He let himself in and snaked his way through the house and
found the little boy asleep in his bed. He woke up the little boy and
his brother and helped get them dressed. They got on the bus and ate a
doughnut for breakfast on their way to church.
Keep in mind that this boy had never been to church before.
The church was a real big one. The little child just sat there,
clueless of what was going on. A few minutes into the service, these
tall unhappy guys walked down to the front and picked up some wooden
plates. One of the men prayed and the child, with utter fascination,
watched them walk up and down the aisles. He still didn't know what
was going on. Suddenly, like a bolt of lightning, it hit the child
what was taking place.
These people must be giving money to Jesus. He then reflected on the
free gift of life he had received just twenty-four hours earlier. He
immediately searched his pockets, front and back, and couldn't find a
thing to give Jesus.
By this time the offering plate was being passed down his aisle and,
with a broken heart, he just grabbed the plate and held on to it. He
finally let go and watched it pass on down the aisle. He turned around
to see it passed down the aisle behind him.
And then his eyes remained glued on the plate as it was passed back
and forth, back and forth all the way to the rear of the sanctuary.
Then he had an idea. This little nine year old boy, in front of God
and everybody, got up out of his seat. He walked about eight rows
back, grabbed the usher by the coat and asked to hold the plate one
more time. Then he did the most astounding thing I have ever heard of.
He took the plate, sat it on the carpeted church floor and stepped
into the center of it.
As he stood there, he lifted his little head up and said, "Jesus, I
don't have anything to give you today, but just me. I give you me!"
Our Greatest Wealth
We are born with two eyes in front because we must not always look behind, but see what lies ahead beyond ourselves.
We are born to have two ears -- one left, one right -- so we can hear both sides, collect both the compliments and criticisms, to see which are right.
We are born with a brain concealed in a skull... then no matter how poor we are, we are still rich, for no one can steal what our brain contains, packing in more jewels and rings than you can think.
We are born with two eyes, two ears, but one mouth... for the mouth is a sharp weapon. It can hurt, flirt, and kill. Remember our motto: talk less, listen and see more.
We are born with only one heart... deep in our ribs it reminds us to appreciate and give love from deep within.

YOU SHALL
Author Unknown
You shall not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human
activities.
You shall not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come to
pass.
You shall not carry grudges, for they are the heaviest of all life's
burdens.
You shall face each problem as it comes. You can only handle one at a
time anyway.
You shall not take problems to bed with you, for they make very poor
bedfellows.
You shall not borrow other people's problems. They can better care for
them than you.
You shall not try to relive yesterday for good or ill, it is forever
gone. Concentrate on what is happening in your life and be happy now!
You shall be a good listener, for only when you listen do you hear
ideas different from your own.
You shall not become "bogged down" by frustration, for 90% of it is
rooted in self-pity and will only interfere with positive action.
You shall count your blessings, never overlooking the small ones, for
a lot of small blessings add up to a big one.
The Beautiful Colour of love
What colour is God,
Asked the child with skin so fair
Is he white like me,
Does he have light hair
Is God dark like me,
Asked the child with skin of golden hue
Has he hair that's dark and curly,
Are his eyes black or blue
I think God is red like me,
The Indian boy is heard to say
He wears a crown of feathers,
And turns our nights to day
Each one of us knows that God is there
In all the colours above
But be sure of this, the one colour he is,
Is the beautiful colour of love
So when your soul goes to Heaven,
When your life comes to its end
He will be waiting, and his hand to you
Will he extend.
There will be no colours in Heaven,
Everyone will be the same.
You will only be judged by your earthly deeds,
Not your colour or your name
So when your time comes,
And you see God in his Heaven above,
Then you will see the only colour that counts,
The beautiful colour of love.
(Arnold "Sparky" Watts)
Unfailing Prayer to St. Anthony
O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me [your request here]. O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms; and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours.
Amen.
