Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Prayer helps us see that God is not the cause of unpleasant happenings, but
the healing of them. Lord, I trust in You for the right outcomes in all
situations.

Scripture for the day:

"My vows to you I must perform, O God; I will render thank offerings to you.
For you have delivered my soul from death, and my feet from falling, so that
I may walk before God in the light of life." ~Psalm 56:12-13

Meditation for the day:

I will never forget to say thank you to God, even on the grayest days. My
attitude can be one of humility and gratitude. Saying thank you to God is a
daily practice that is absolutely necessary. If a day is not one of
thankfulness, the practice has to be repeated until it becomes so. Gratitude
is a necessity for those who seek to live a better life.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that gratitude will bring humility. I pray that humility will bring
me to live a better life.

Have You Received God´s Most Precious Gift?
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Acts 5:34-42 / Jn 6:1-15

There are certain things in our lives and in our surroundings that have
always just been there: various members of our family, familiar streets,
precious possessions rooted deep in our past. Lovely or not, they’re all a
part of the familiar landscape of our lives and we rarely look at them all
that consciously. Our faith as Christians may well fall into that same
category – part of the landscape that’s always just been there. And a
likely consequence of that is that we may not yet fully appreciate what life
would be like without Him who gives us life.

Today’s first reading challenges us to think about this. In the Sanhedrin’s
debate about what to do with the apostles, a wise man urged that they do
nothing, reasoning that if the apostles’ teaching was not of God, it would
soon die of its own accord, but if it was of God, nothing could destroy it.
Two-thousand years later the verdict speaks for itself.

That confronts us with some serious questions. Have we yet received the
Jesus-gift which God sent us? Have we taken him into our lives and formed a
bond so deep that nothing can break it? Have we let him guide our growth
toward wholeness and joy? If we haven’t, we’re acquiescing to a life of
spiritual poverty while vast riches are within our reach. And that would be
crazy.

Don’t be crazy! Receive the gift our Father sent personally to you, and
live!

DEDICATION TO JESUS

Lord Jesus Christ, take all my freedom, my memory, my understanding, and my
will. All that I have and cherish you have given me. I surrender it all to
be
guided by your will. Your love and your grace are wealth enough for me. Give
me
these, Lord Jesus, and ask for nothing more. Amen.

Mary the dawn, Christ the perfect day;
Mary the gate, Christ the Heavenly Way!

Mary the root, Christ the Mystic Vine;
Mary the grape,Christ the Sacred Wine!

Mary the wheat, Christ the Living Bread;
Mary the stem, Christ the Rose blood-red!

Mary the font, Christ the Cleansing Flood;
Mary the cup, Chirst the Saving Blood!

Mary the temple, Christ the temple's Lord;
Mary the shrine, Christ the God adored!

Mary the beacon, Christ the Heaven's Rest;
Mary the mirror, Christ the Vision Blest!

Mary the mother, Chirst the mother's Son;
By all things blest while endless ages run.

I was taught a lesson that just six simple letters could make a
difference.

Those six letters made the word - SILENT.

Those letters when rearranged also spell the word - LISTEN.

I never truly understood that until the day I stood silent and
learned there was more to life than everyday living.

When you don't take the time to listen and be silent then
everything is easily taken for granted.

The things I wasn't silent for and listened for, I now miss the
most. A simple I love you from my child.

The request of a loved one that I was too busy for at the time.

Little did I know, that if I stayed quiet and savored things,
I could have imprinted their voices in my mind and made memories that would
have lasted.

The one thing I always will be thankful for is that I learned my
lesson and heeded the call. But also that God truly is silent
and listened for my every need, but in return if I'm silent,
I can also hear from Him.

GO FORWARD WITH COURAGE

When you are in doubt, be still, and wait. When doubt no longer exists for
you, then go forward with courage. So long as mists envelop you, be still.
Be still until the sunlight pours through and dispels the mists -- as it
surely will. Then act with courage.

Closing prayer:

Jesus, I Want To Help You

May I become at all times,
both now and forever
A protector for those
without protection
A guide for those
who have lost their way
A ship for those with ocean to cross
A bridge for those with rivers to cross
A sanctuary for those in danger
A lamp for those without light
A place of refuge
for those who lack shelter
and a servant to all in need.

Bl. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Greetings to all! Hope you all had a good Friday! I am cleaning out
drawers - going thru old recipes and throwing out those I'm not using
anymore. Gosh thru the years do they pile up! I also have lots of papers
etc. that I've been using for my list - some I'll keep and some I'll toss.
We went out for supper tonight at the Buffalo Wings place with Lori and her
friend, Elisha, she's the one who took care of Sammy and Phoebe for us. We
bought her dinner for it. It was a fun night. Sammy remembered her and
showed us that he loved her! They were here for a game of Farkel yet, then
Elisha was going to Lori's for the evening. Remember Elisha's Dad died just
before Christmas of cancer, which was very hard, and her dear mother is
really in need of prayers, her name is Gayle. She is taking it so hard that
she's into alcohol too much to drown the pain.

Well Good night now and Sweet Dreams to all - May you all have a very
blessed Saturday!
