Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello my friends! Saturday is here and hope you all have a great weekend!! Linus works from ten to two - and at six we get picked up by our friends, Ray and Ann, to go to our Church Dinner - fund raiser and silent auction! It's a great dinner all every year and every year it's a new theme. This year's theme is the Roaring Twenties, last year it was the Wild Wild west! Father Mark has a band called Father Mark and the Angels, and they will be playing again! We are so looking forward to going again! It's always so much fun! And to have a table with our best friends, what could be better? Lori is at the airport right now, her flight takes off at 7:30 for Dallas, and Darla picks her up. Quite a temperature change, no snow there! Must be nice. Praying for you all - please keep my girls in prayer, and Linus for his new job, thanks!

It is you, not where you are or what you have, that makes the difference.

Lord, may I always blossom where I am planted.

Scripture for the day:

"I will look to the LORD, I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God

will hear me." ~Micah 7:7

Meditation for the day:

We can admit our own helplessness. God will hear our prayer. Our own need

can be recognized, then we can ask God for the strength to meet that need.

But once that need is recognized, our prayer is heard above all the music of

heaven. It is not theological arguments that solve the problems of the

questing soul, but the sincere cry of that soul to God for strength and the

certainty of that soul that the cry can be heard and answered.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may be humble enough to realize my need and ask for help. I

pray that I may fell certain that God will hear and answer my prayer.

A PRAYER

Almighty God, enter my heart and mind so that I no longer feel so alone in

the world. Let me have patience with myself so that I learn to enjoy my own

company. Be the light in my life, so that the darkness of my heart will be

illuminated by your love for me. Grant me the hope to know that I will not

always be alone. Help me make friends that love me for who I am and not for

what I do. Let me grow in wisdom and love for other people so that I can

become a light to others. Amen.

Needs of the Heart

Every man has a deep "heart need" that cannot be filled with doctrine or

creed, for the soul of man knows nothing more than just that he is longing

for a haven that is safe and sure and a fortress where he feels secure.

I know that He who brought me into this world will also take me safely

back...

for though there are many things I lack, He will not let me go alone into a

land that is unknown.

With that knowledge, I can travel happily on "The Highway To Heaven" and

always with "hurrying feet", for I know God will open "new fields of

usefulness" for me, where there are no limitations, no handicaps, and no

restrictions.

I know that everything that ever happens in my life, whether it is good or

bad, glad or sad, God sent it for a reason, and we must truly believe that

"God Never Makes Mistakes."

We must not question what God sends.

Instead, we must realize that when we question God, we lose the

unquestionable power of faith and we no longer can enjoy its endless

benefits.

I am well aware that I cannot make it on my own, so I ask God to take my

hand and hold it tightly, for I cannot walk alone.

Each day God only asks us to do our best, and then He will take over and do

all the rest.

Remember, God is always available and ready to help anyone who asks Him, for

God is here.

He's there.

He's everywhere.

He's as close to you as He is to me...

and wherever you are, God is sure to be.

While I may never have met you face-to-face, in God's love by His grace, our

hearts and minds can meet and share -- though we are oceans and miles apart,

God unites us in spirit and heart!

May God's love and God's joy flow around this troubled world and may you and

I, together, help to make this a reality.

This is my wish and my prayer,

Helen Steiner Rice

Mother Teresa Said...

Faith is a gift from God.

When God comes to you or you go to God, then you will have the chance to

accept Him or reject Him.

Accepting Him is the gift of faith.

MEMO FROM GOD

"Effective, immediately, please be aware that there are changes you need to

make in your life. These changes need to be completed in order that I may

fulfill My promises to you to grant you peace, joy and happiness in this

life.

QUIT WORRYING: Have you forgotten that I am here to take all your burdens

and carry them for you? Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little

thing that comes your way?

TRUST ME: Once you've given your burdens to Me, quit trying to take them

back. Trust in me. Have the faith that I will take care of all your needs,

your problems and trials. Put them on My list.

LEAVE IT ALONE: Don't wake up one morning and say, "Well, I'm feeling much

stronger now, I think I can handle it from here." Why do you think you are

feeling stronger now? It's simple. You gave Me your burdens and I'm taking

care of them. I also renew your strength and cover you in My peace. Don't

you know that if I give you these problems back, you will be right back

where you started? Just let me do my job.

TALK TO ME: I want you to forget a lot of things. Forget what was making you

crazy. Forget the worry and the fretting because you know I'm in control.

But there is one thing I want you NEVER to forget. Please do not forget to

talk to me, OFTEN!!! I LOVE YOU. I want to hear your voice.

SHARE: You were taught to share when you were only a child. When did you

forget? That rule still applies. Share with those who are less fortunate

than you. Share your joy with those who need encouragement. Share your

laughter wit those who haven't heard any in such a long time. Share your

tears with those who have forgotten how to cry. Share your faith with those

who have none.

BE PATIENT: How can you be so impatient when it takes Me a little longer

than you expected to handle something on My to-do-list? Trust in My timing,

for My timing is perfect. Just because I created the entire universe in only

six days, everyone thinks I should always rush, rush, rush.

BE KIND: Be kind to others, for I love them just as much as I love you. They

may not dress like you, or talk like you, or live the same way you do, but I

still love you all. I created each of you different in some way. It would be

too boring if you were all identical. Please, know I love each of your

differences.

With all my heart, I LOVE YOU!

GOD

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello To All!

No problem in keeping my highest thoughts for you and yours Gloria. Also, to the various posters as well. The Roaring 20's? Do you have a 20's style outfit to wear to the affair? We have temps in the 80's and now they will be in the 70's this week. It's not all fun and sun as we have a serious drought problem and it shows. Lawns are looking dried up and other vegetation as well. We are very careful concerning our water use. Thinking of a positive thing to share......a very tiring week in doing my museum work but it was very rewarding. I have another opportunity to do more challenging work this upcoming week so I am readying myself for that too. Had a chat with a co-worker and we both enjoyed lunch together.

We are so very blessed to be living in the here and now. We have a wonderful and blessed nation, people, liberties, privileges, outstanding troops, good allies, strength, resilience, and generosity. We constantly strive for peace and good will. Know you are loved. Be at peace.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello there, I wanted to share this link with you. Another poster, housecat, posted this link in Fashion Talk and the Cloverton's version of Hallelujah, with lyrics specific to Christmas just knocked me out.

http://www.godfruits.com/183/the-best-version-of-hallelujah-that-you-will-ever-hear-get-ready-to-be...

The tune is based on a song by Leonard Cohen.

These are the lyrics and it gives me chills when I hear the band sing them.

I've heard about this baby boy
Who's come to earth to bring us joy
And I just want to sing this song to you
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
With every breath I'm singing Hallelujah

Hallelujah

A couple came to Bethlehem
Expecting child, they searched the inn
To find a place for You were coming soon
There was no room for them to stay
So in a manger filled with hay
God's only Son was born, oh Hallelujah

Hallelujah

The shepherds left their flocks by night
To see this baby wrapped in light
A host of angels led them all to You
It was just as the angels said
You'll find Him in a manger bed
Immanuel and Savior, Hallelujah

Hallelujah

A star shown bright up in the east
To Bethlehem, the wisemen three
Came many miles and journeyed long for You
And to the place at which You were
Their frankincense and gold and myrrh
They gave to You and cried out Hallelujah

Hallelujah

I know You came to rescue me
This baby boy would grow to be
A man and one day die for me and you
My sins would drive the nails in You
That rugged cross was my cross, too
Still every breath You drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

Bobbiesue - I sure hope March won't come in like a lion - I wish for no more snow and warmth. We'll see what happens.

Love Roses - I don't have a Roarin' Twenty's outfit, but some did, and one got the first prize for her dress-up! They wore frilly boas, lots of sequins etc. I just wore a navy pantsuit. I heard from my friend from Moreno Valley - she mentioned the drought too. You should come and get some of our high snow banks! Having lunch with a co-worker must be fun - glad you enjoyed that. That's very positive! Thanks for sharing.

Bird Mama - Wow! What a beautiful song! Thanks for sharing and the lyrics. I'm going to email this to my priest. He played in a band tonight at our Church dinner. Father Mark and the Angels. I bet he'd enjoy this piece.

rondell - Thanks for your post and I'm very appreciative of your prayers! That's what we can do for one another, pray for each other! Thanks for praying for our Spring to come early!! Sure hope so. You should see our snow banks right out our front picture window! So high!
