Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello my friends! Hope your day is going well for you! It's been a good day for me, I made a new recipe for lunch, a Lentil Sweet Potato Soup, using up my soaked mixed beans that were in the fridge, and it was delicious!! Got to use my greens I froze too which went well in it. My blessings today, although really too numerous to count, but for a starter, how the soup turned out so well by cleaning more things out of the fridge, I went by a recipe but it sure got altered! That Sammy of ours can run fast, he doesn't act like he had any arthritis - no more limping, other than his cough, he's back to normal, without any meds. It's been a real long time since he had any medicine! Praise the Lord for all His blessings! Being able to communicate with my sister, Sister LaDonna, email sure is a blessing too. What are your blessings? Let's not forget the talents God gave us - we each have our own talents, what a blessing!

Neglecting our talents and abilities will soon make them disappear.

Lord, help me to put to good use the gifts with which You have blessed me.

S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes

refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, until the

destroying storms pass by." ~Psalm 57:1

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

"My soul is restless until it finds its rest in Thee." A river flows

on, until it loses itself in the sea. Our spirits long for rest in the

Spirit of God. We can yearn to realize a peace, a rest, a satisfaction that

we

have never found in the world or its pursuits. Some of us are not

conscious of our need, and can shut the doors of our spirits against the

Spirit of

God. That makes it difficult for us to find true peace.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may feel the divine unrest. I pray that my soul may find

its rest in God.

Prayer for healing

O Jesus, we believe in you, we hope in you, and we love you.

Strengthen our faith, renew our hope and love, and grant our prayers.

Touch with your healing love, O Lord, all who feel the hurt of life's

wounds.

Long ago, when people prayed to you for healing,

you listened to them, blessed them

and answered their prayer.

Heal us now of our sinfulness

and of the hatred that divides us.

Take away our hardness of heart.

Open our eyes which are often blind to the needs of others.

Remove our selfishness and our greed.

Give us self-control at all times,

and fill our hearts with your eternal love.

O Jesus, we ask you now to heal and bless us,

and fill us with your peace. Amen.

THE "U" IN JESUS

Author Unknown

Before U were thought of or time had begun,

God even stuck U in the name of His Son.

And each time U pray, you'll see it's true

You can't spell out JesUs and not include U.

You're a pretty big part of His wonderful name,

For U, He was born; that's why He came.

And His great love for U is the reason He died.

It even takes U to spell crUcified.

Isn't it thrilling and splendidly grand

He rose from the dead, with U in His plan.

The stones split away, the gold trUmpet blew,

and this word resUrrection is spelled with a U.

When JesUs left earth at His upward ascension,

He felt there was one thing He just had to mention.

Go into the world and tell them it's true That I love them all -

Just like I love U.

So many great people are spelled with a U,

Don't they have a right to know JesUs too?

It all depends now on what U will do,

He'd like them to know

But it all starts with U. --

Let Go .....

To "LET GO" Does not mean to stop caring, it means I can't do it for someone

else.

To "LET GO" Is not to cut myself off, it's the realization that I can't

control another human being.

To "LET GO" Is not to enable, but to allow someone to learn from their

natural consequences.

To "LET GO" Is to admit powerlessness , which means the outcome is not in my

hands.

To "LET GO" Is not to try to change or blame another, but to make the most

of myself.

To "LET GO" Is not to care for, but to care about.

To "LET GO" Is not to fix, but to be supportive, and not violate my values.

To "LET GO" Is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being.

To "LET GO" Is not to be in the middle, arranging all the outcomes , but to

allow God to work in the lives of others.

To "LET GO" Is not to be protective, it's to permit another to face reality.

To "LET GO" Is not to deny, but to accept .

To "LET GO" Is not to nag, scold or argue with another person, but instead

to search out my own shortcomings and allow God to correct them.

To "LET GO" Does not mean to deny the shortcomings in others, but to accept

others unconditionally in love.

To "LET GO" Is not to adjust everything to my desires, but to accept each

day as it comes; knowing God offers it to me for growth.

To "LET GO" Is not to criticize or regulate anybody, but to try to become

the person I understand God wants me to be.

To "LET GO" Does not mean to compete against another human being, but

rather, to compete within myself to learn "self- control" through

circumstances God brings into my life.

To "LET GO" Does mean to fear less and love more.

To "LET GO" Means I don't demand my own way, but that I hold firm to my

values and beliefs-- while allowing others the same privilege.

To "LET GO" Doesn't mean that I expect God to do everything for me, but that

I let God show me how to do His will for my life.

"Put the Glass Down"

A lecturer was giving a lecture to his student on stress management.

He raised a glass of water and asked the audience, "How heavy do

you think this glass of water is?"

The students' answers ranged from 20g to 500gm.

"It does not matter on the absolute weight. It depends on how long

you hold it.

"If I hold it for a minute, it is OK.

"If I hold it for an hour, I will have an ache in my right arm.

"If I hold it for a day, you will have to call an ambulance.

"It is the exact same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it

becomes.

"If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, we will not be

able to carry on, the burden becoming increasingly heavier.

"What you have to do is to put the glass down, rest for a while before

holding it up again."

We have to put down the burden periodically, so that we can be re-

freshed and are able to carry on.

So before you return home from work tonight, put the burden of work

down.

Don't carry it back home. You can pick it up tomorrow.

Whatever burdens you are having now on your shoulders, let it down

for a moment if you can.

Pick it up again later when you have rested...Rest and relax.

Life is short, enjoy it!!

The Storms Of Life

When the heart is troubled and the day seems long,

And the mighty tempests roll,

The clouds are thick and foreboding,

There is sadness in your soul.

When things go wrong and you're weary,

And your heart cries out in pain,

What should I do? Which way do I go?

Crying out again and again.

Suddenly a soft voice whispers,

"Take time my child to pray,

While the storms of life are raging,

I will wipe your fears away."

A clean heart is a free heart. A free heart can love Christ with an undivided love in chastity, convinced that nothing and nobody will separate it from his love. Purity, chastity, and virginity created a special beauty in Mary that attracted God’s attention. He showed his great love for the world by giving Jesus to her.

There is a terrible hunger for love. We all experience that in our lives - the pain, the loneliness. We must have the courage to recognize it. The poor you may have right in your own family.

Find them.

Love them.

Before you speak, it is necessary for you to listen, for God speaks in the silence of the heart.

Give yourself fully to God. He will use you to accomplish great things on the condition that you believe much more in His love than in your own weakness.

Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don't only give your care, but give your heart as well.

The more you have, the more you are occupied, the less you give. But the less you have the more free you are. Poverty for us is a freedom. It is not mortification, a penance.

It is joyful freedom. There is no television here, no this, no that. But we are perfectly happy.

I pray that you will understand the words of Jesus, “Love one another as I have loved you.” Ask yourself “How has he loved me? Do I really love others in the same way?” Unless this love is among us, we can kill ourselves with work and it will only be work, not love. Work without love is slavery.

Little things are indeed little, but to be faithful in little things is a great thing.

A sacrifice to be real must cost, must hurt, must empty ourselves. The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service, the fruit of service is peace.

Quotes of Mother Teresa

"Keep the joy of loving God in your heart and share this joy with all you meet especially your family. Be holy – let us pray."

"I once picked up a woman from a garbage dump and she was burning with fever; she was in her last days and her only lament was: ‘My son did this to me.’ I begged her: You must forgive your son. In a moment of madness, when he was not himself, he did a thing he regrets. Be a mother to him, forgive him. It took me a long time to make her say: ‘I forgive my son.’ Just before she died in my arms, she was able to say that with a real forgiveness. She was not concerned that she was dying. The breaking of the heart was that her son did not want her. This is something you and I can understand."

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Good morning!

It is such a beautiful day here. Thankful to see the sunshine. Last evening I was out doing errands and the sun was beginning to set. I passed a house not far from mine and out in their yard was 5 deer. It isn't unusual to see deer around but not that many at one time. I stopped the car just to get a good look and one deer looked up, continued chewing and stared at me as if to say...what do you want? lol I drove on and left them in peace. It was a lovely sight. I love nature, can you tell?

While reading this morning I came across something that I thought I'd post here.

A Time to Think: Our prayers run along one road and God answers by another, and by and by they meet. –Adoniram Judson, missionary

A Time to Act: Practice believing that as you pray you are receiving God's boundless blessings.

A Time to Pray: Dear God, let me be as quick to forget my troubles as I tend to be at forgetting my blessings. And help me to remember Your goodness always.

Be still, and know.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello everyone,

"Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about...what you will put on." Matthew 6:25

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34

Welcome to all of the new posters! May God give you peace, hope and comfort. May the Positive Thread be a Stepping Stone in your life as it has been with me.

Gloriajean, it's so good to hear that Sammy is doing better. Regarding your soon to be 50th wedding anniversary...I have a picture of my grandparents 50th (my fathers mom and dad) it was quite simple celebration, a small 3 tier cake, and they both have their hands on the knife to cut the cake. I do not remember the celebration, since I was only 7 years old, I don't even know if our family went, because we lived out of state. But when I look at that picture, I remember the dining room table, and all the cupboards, and the table cloth, where the cake was sitting, and of course, my grandma, and grandpa looked very, very happy. It just looked very simple, and stress free. Because of you, it was a blessing to go and take a look at that picture, and enjoy the memories of long ago...

Bobbisue, I don't post often because of my broadband, but I do try to keep up in reading, and I do keep you in my prayers, and when you have a special request, please know that somewhere, someone is praying for you, and that does include me.

Lucy, yes today is a beautiful day. I don't know about you, but our winds are very gusty, but it's a blessing that the wind is from the southwest, for a change instead of out of the north. Keeping you and your loved ones in my prayers...special prayers for your son and his job search.

Shoutout to Harlene, and Love Roses!

Tomorrow, as far as I know will be my last day on gas station, store job. It seems like I just finally got adjusted to it...lol! But it was such a blessing to have this job, it so did help me tremendously, more ways then one would expect. God does work in such wonderful ways.

Dear friends, remember..."Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength." ~Corrie ten Boom

Keeping all in my prayers. Thank you for yours! Until next time...

Take Care and God Bless!
