Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello my friends! I bet you all have lots of weekend plans, just remember God's blessings to you - His many blessings and His guidance in your lives. Today my blessings were ordinary, but ordinary is great and many! Got a nice long phone call from Darla - 1600 hours away from here! That surely was a blessing to hear her voice. She will get tested on Oct. 3 or 4, can't remember to see if the freezing the nerves in her back will work. Please continue your prayers for her healing!! That Tomato Basil Soup we canned that Lori created is just wonderful! We had some for supper tonight with a cheese sandwich. So glad we canned more of that soup last time. It's better than any soup you can buy in the store. I mentioned on the Kitchen and Food forum about my garlic and I ground it all up (8 bulbs) in the food processor and put olive oil in it and put in the fridge like the store bought kind. I was told that can cause botulism as the garlic won't get oxygen and there was a link about it, so that scared me and I took it out this morning and drained it in hot water, and froze the garlic in small containers. I'll see how that works. Good thing I mentioned it on that forum as I never would have thought that was dangerous. Prayers for you all!!! God bless you!

Regret nothing, not even your failures. Take in the richness of only today
because to carry any more will only weigh you down. Lord, You have
promised to help me with the burdens of today. I will not look backwards.

"Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."
~Matthew 6:10

"Your will be done" can be our often repeated prayer. And in the
willing of God's will there can be gladness. We can delight to do God's
will because when we do, all our life can go better and everything will
tend to work well for us in the long run. When we are honestly trying
to do God's will and humbly accepting the results, nothing can seriously
hurt us. Those of us who accept the will of God in our lives may not
inherit the earth, but we can inherit real peace of mind.

I pray that I may have a yielded will. I pray that my will may be
attuned to the will of God.

Roots

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,
rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught,
and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7

The roots on our “eyeball tree”, as my granddaughter used to call the
elephant ear philodendron plant in our garden, continually produces strong
fibrous shoots. They are thin and flexible, so when they get long enough to
reach down into the decking, I wrap them around the trunk to prevent their
rooting in the earth underneath the wood deck.

Aren’t we like those roots? Springing up and reaching out, waving in the
breeze, always turning toward the sun. Isn’t God always there, gently
turning us downward so our roots can be firmly and deeply in Him? He is
continuously and gently doing this, even though it is barely noticeable.

It’s necessary, though, in order to steady the large, heavy top growth of
the plant - the visible part. Then when the storms come, we will not topple,
but stand firm, rooted deeply in Him.

Thank you, Lord, for faithfully taking care of rooting us, even though we
are not always aware of it.

Holy Are Your Ways

Help me to understand, Lord,
that what counts is not the road traveled,
but simply putting my hand in yours
and journeying side by side with you, Lord Jesus --
0 you who are the joy of my journey
and also the repose in the Father's home!
Holy, holy is the Lord, for eternal is his love.

GOD IS ALWAYS NEAR
Author Unknown

One thing can always cheer me
When I'm feeling sad and low
When I tired of daily trials
That I have to undergo,
When those who should
Seem closest, seem like
People I don't know,
One thing can always cheer me
I know that God is near me.

One thing can always cheer me
When I do not understand
How pain and sadness
In our lives
Can get so out of hand,
When the best of human efforts
Doesn't meet the days demands,
One thing can always cheer me
I know that God is always near me.

One thing can always cheer me
More than anything I've known
And show me I will never
Have to struggle on my own
For no matter what might happen
I will never be alone
The thing that will always cheer me
Is just knowing God is near me.

Our lives are in God's loving
Hands, in everything we do
He is with us constantly,
He always sees us through.
And if our faith is strong enough
We'll never walk alone,
For with His great and perfect love
He takes care of His own.

Faith Of A Mustard Seed

"...He said to them, Because of the littleness of your faith [that is, your
lack of firmly relying trust]. For truly I say to you, if you have faith
[that is living] like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain,
Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and nothing will be
impossible to you..." - Matthew 17: 20

It only takes a little faith!

We often think of ourselves not having much faith. We look at others and
think they have a lot more faith. But Jesus said here that even if we had
faith as small as a mustard seed we could do incredible things in God –
nothing will be impossible, because with God all things are possible. We can
speak to our mountains and conquer them with our faith firmly placed in God.

Don't limit yourself. Take your mustard seed of faith today, and see what
God can do.

It only takes a little bit of faith
To conquer the mountains that we have in our lives!

O Blessed Virgin Mary

O BLESSED Virgin Mary, who can worthily repay your just dues of praise and
thanksgiving, you who by the wondrous assent of your will did rescue a
fallen world? What songs of praise can our weak human nature recite in your
honor, since it is by your intervention alone that it has found the way to
restoration?

Accept, then, such poor thanks as we have here to offer, though they be
unequal to your merits; and, receiving our vows, obtain by your prayers the
remission of our offenses. Carry our prayers within the sanctuary of the
heavenly audience, and bring forth from it the antidote of our
reconciliation. May the sins we bring before Almighty God through you become
pardonable through you; may what we ask for with sure confidence, through
you be granted.

Take our offering, grant us our requests, obtain pardon for what we fear,
for you art the sole hope of sinners. Through you we hope for the remission
of our sins, and in you, O blessed Lady, is our hope of reward. Holy Mary,
succor the miserable, help the fainthearted, comfort the sorrowful, pray for
your people, plead for the clergy, intercede for all women consecrated to
God; may all who keep your holy commemoration feel now your help and
protection.

Be ever ready to assist us when we pray, and bring back to us the answers to
our prayers. Make it your continual care to pray for the people of God,
who, blessed by God, merited to bear the Redeemer of the world, who lives
and reigns, world without end. Amen.

Mother Teresa Said...
The aim of taking a retreat is to advance in the knowledge and love of God,
to purify ourselves, and to reform and transform our lives according to the
life of our model, Jesus Christ. It is not so much a looking back on the
achievements and failures of the past, as a looking forward to a more
generous imitation of our Lord Himself.
