Nothing in your day is too small to be a big part of God's plan for you.
Lord, I trust in Your design for me and I thank You for all of my moments,
even the grey ones.
Scripture for the day:
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." ~Romans 12:21
Meditation for the day:
The spiritual and moral will eventually overcome the material and immoral.
That is the purpose and destiny of the human race. Gradually the spiritual
can overcome the material in our minds. Gradually the moral can overcome
the immoral. Faith, fellowship and service are cures for most of the ills
of the world. There is nothing in the field of personal relationships that
they cannot do.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may do my share in making a better world. I pray that I may
be part of the cure for the ills of the world.
Hello my friends! A wonderful day today - the sun was out and it turned out nice and warm, by that I mean in the 30's. I'm sure Linus had a great birthday, he was busy most of the day with appointments, then his brothers and sisters went with us to a fish fry and later for cake and coffee here. It was a very relaxing and wonderful night. Dave has to stay in the hospital until Sunday for sure - he has a lot of healing to do - a lot! Has to walk with a walker to start with, his one hand isn't working right yet, he'll need lots of PT. His wife joined us for the dinner but not for the cake and coffee - had to get back. I had a lot of blessings today - too numerous to mention them all, but I will say that Lori was such a blessing to us - she picked up the cake and joined us for the fish fry and helped us. I'm so honored to have that birthday boy for my husband. Praying for your all, and thanks for your prayers for us!
HOW LIFE IS MEASURED
Author Unknown
Feb 24 2009
I had a very special teacher in high school many years ago whose
husband unexpectedly and suddenly died of a heart attack.
About a week after his death, she shared some of her insight with a
classroom of students.
As the late afternoon sunlight came streaming in through the classroom
windows and the class was nearly over, she moved a few things aside on
the edge of her desk and sat down there. With a gentle look of
reflection on her face, she paused and said, "Before class is over, I
would like to share with all of you a thought that is unrelated to
class, but which I feel is very important."
"Each of us is put here on earth to learn, share, love, appreciate and
give of ourselves. None of us knows when this fantastic experience
will end. It can be taken away at any moment. Perhaps this is a way of
telling us that we must make the most out of every single day."......
Her eyes beginning to water, she went on, "So I would like you all to
make me a promise. From now on, on your way to school, or on your way
home, find something beautiful to notice. It doesn't have to be
something you see, it could be a scent -- perhaps of freshly baked
bread wafting out of someone's house, or it could be the sound of the
breeze slightly rustling the leaves in the trees, or the way the
morning light catches the autumn leaf as it falls gently to the
ground.
Please look for these things, and cherish them. For, although it may
sound trite to some, these things are the "stuff" of life. The little
things we are put here on earth to enjoy. The things we often take for
granted. We must make it important to notice them, for at any
time...it can all be taken
away." The class was completely quiet. We all picked up our books and
filed out of the room silently.
That afternoon, I noticed more things on my way home from school than
had that whole semester. Every once in a while, I think of that
teacher and remember what an impression she made on all of us, and I
try to appreciate all of those things that sometimes we all overlook.
Take notice of something special you see on your lunch hour today.
When you go home, Go barefoot. Or walk on the beach at sunset. Stop
off on the way home tonight to get a double-dip ice cream cone.
"For as we get older, it is not the things we did that we often
regret, but the things we didn't do."
“Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened."
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the
moments that take our breath away."

Comments
The bulk of this message today emphasizes feasting and fasting. Today, we are slightly confused with what to feast on and what to fast. We seem to have somehow mixed up what we should be fasting from with the things we should be feasting on. God wants so much for us to feast on things of Him, not things of the world. Similarly, He wants us to stay away from the world and what they have to offer. Because what the world has cannot sustain our spirit; rather it grieves our spirit. Spend the rest of the day questioning whether or not you feast on God or the world.
Prayer
Father, I pray that we feast on you and not the things that this world offers. You can fill me so much more, than what they have. Help me to seek you.
Insight:
God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting Life." [John 3:16]
The problem is that you and I, all of us, have done and thought things wrong, and our sins have separated us from God.
The good news is that God sent his son, Jesus Cross, to die on the cross in our place, to the pay the penalty for our sins. The gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. When we accept Jesus as our Saviour, we are accepting the call for repentance, the call to turn from sin. We receive Christ not so to continue sin, but to stop it. Grace is not an authority to sin; it is the power not to.
May you grow in your Christian life to love one another. Jesus said, "My commandment is this: love one another, just as I love you." (John 15:12)
Let us pray:
Help us Lord, to follow your command to walk in love and to demonstrate our faith through expressions of love today. Inspire us to acts of love towards our fellow man today. May our kind and encouraging words, our thoughtful gestures and our gentle witness touch our co-workers, friends, family, neighbours, and even strangers with your love! May our deeds before men be a testimony of your love, a witness of your character, and a sincere expression of our faith to the world. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen

Take up your cross, the Savior said,
If you would my disciple be;
Deny yourself, the world forsake,
And humbly follow after me.
Take up your cross, let not its weight
Fill your weak spirit with alarm;
His strength shall bear your heart and nerve your arm.
Take up your cross then in his strength,
And ev’ry danger calmly brave,
To guide you to a better home,
And vict’ry over death and grave.
Take up your cross and follow Christ,
Nor think till death to lay it down;
For only he who bears the cross
May hope to wear the glorious crown.

All praise for evermore ascend;

The heav’nly life that knows no end.
