Joy is left if you rid your heart of all that pulls you down. Lord, help
me to heal my spirit and grow from today's experiences.
Scripture for the day:
"The apostles said to the Lord, 'Increase our faith!'" ~Luke 17:5
Meditation for the day:
I can pray for faith as a thirsty person prayers for water in a desert.
I can know what it means to feel sure that God will never fail me. I can be
as sure of this as I am sure that I still breathe. I can pray daily and
most diligently that my faith may increase. There is nothing lacking in my
life because, really, all I need is mine, only I sometimes lack the faith to
know it. I can be like a rich man's child who sits in rags when all around
me are stores of all I could ever desire.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that for the realization that God has everything I need. I pray that
I may know that God's power is always available to me.
Hello my friends, I'm going to get this thread out early because we are expecting guests for supper tonight - our friends, Ray and Ann and Fr. Jerry, it will be a big blessing to us to cook for them and enjoy our fellowship. God sure gave us good, true friends and we thank Him so much for that, He is so good to us all. I've been busy cleaning and soon will be preparing food, and we thank our God for food we can share tonight - for our warm house in this below zero weather, love our in floor heat, walking in stocking feet, nice and warm floors! I thank God for all of you who read this, and ask Him to bless you all abundantly and answer your prayers. Again I thank you for your support for this thread. Praying for you all and thanks for your prayers for us.
Got this on email and thought you may like to read it:
This is amazing! Read slowly AND only when you have time. It’s marvelous. A good friend, whom I hadn’t seen in a long time, sent this note to me: “Go often to the house of a friend, for weeds soon choke up the unused path”. I called her immediately. We all get caught up in daily “things”.
I FIRST STARTED READING THIS EMAIL & WAS READING FAST UNTIL I REACHED THE THIRD SENTENCE. I STOPPED AND STARTED OVER READING SLOWER AND THINKING ABOUT EVERY WORD. THIS EMAIL IS VERY THOUGHT PROVOKING. MAKES YOU STOP AND THINK. READ SLOWLY!
AND THEN IT IS WINTER
You know. . . time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams.
But, here it is... the winter of my life and it catches me by surprise...How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go? I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.
But, here it is...my friends are retired and getting grey...they move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me...but, I see the great change...Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant...but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be. Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore... it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will... I just fall asleep where I sit!
And so...now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!! But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last...this I know, that when it's over on this earth...its over. A new adventure will begin!
Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done...things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in a lifetime.
So, if you're not in your winter yet...let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, what ever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!! Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not! You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life...so, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember...and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!!
"Life" is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one.
LIVE IT WELL!
ENJOY TODAY!
DO SOMETHING FUN!
BE HAPPY !
HAVE A GREAT DAY
Remember "It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.
Life Is Too Short
Life is too short to let even one day be frenzied or frazzled or frittered away.
Life is too short not to take time to do the things that will hold the most meaning for you.
So let yourself float like a leaf on a stream, relax with your memories and let yourself dream.
Throw out your list that's impossibly long, and dance a few steps to a favorite song.
Turn off the news and go find someone real who'll listen and talk and affirm what you feel.
Life is too short and flies by if you let it, so choose what you want every day-- and go and get it.
LIVE HAPPY IN 2013!
TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN,
YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE
SO - ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.
~Your kids are becoming you......but your grandchildren are perfect!
~Going out is good.. Coming home is better!
~You forget names.... But it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you!!!
~You realize you're never going to be really good at anything.... especially golf.
~The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really do care that you don't care to do them anymore.
~You sleep better on a lounge chair with theTV blaring than in bed. It's called "pre-sleep".
~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch..
~You tend to use more 4 letter words ... "what?"..."when?"... ???
~Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.
~You notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!
~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
~Everybody whispers.
~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet.... 2 of which you will never wear.
~~~But Old is good in some things: Old Songs, Old movies, and best of all, O It's Not What You Gather, But What You Scatter That Tells What Kind Of Life you've lived.
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never
leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Deuteronomy 31:8
Overwhelmed
This year the Christmas and holiday decorations got packed up a little
later than usual. I heard somewhere that if you feel like there’s a
lot going on, it’s probably because there’s a lot going on. And that’s
how it felt this year after Christmas. Good stuff, just a lot-
Found myself dragging my feet, and prayed and literally asked the Lord
for an energy boost to get up and get going! The ‘overwhelmed’ feeling
was weighing me down, spirit, soul, mind and body.
While flipping thoughts around in my head about this, it occurred to
me that I might be ‘stepping into the future.’ Not in a weird way,
just in anticiipation and looking ahead on my calendar.
For sure, too much thinking and planning can absolutely get me feeling
overwhelmed. One day at a time is the ticket. The bible says to not
worry about the future, because each day has enough “troubles” of its
own. (Matthew 6:34) So true.
Prayer for today: Lord, when I feel overwhelmed please help me to
remember that You came to save us, restore us, AND carry our cares and
concerns of all kinds. Thank you that You are always with me, go ahead
of me, and will never leave me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Jesus, I Want To Help You
May I become at all times,
both now and forever
A protector for those
without protection
A guide for those
who have lost their way
A ship for those with ocean to cross
A bridge for those with rivers to cross
A sanctuary for those in danger
A lamp for those without light
A place of refuge
for those who lack shelter
and a servant to all in need.
Bl. Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Just a Little Bit of Love
Just a little bit of love,
How bright it made the day
The burdened heart was lighter
And sweeter seemed the day.
Just a little bit of love,
And gloomy thoughts were gone,
The rosy hues of morning
With each reflection shone.
Just a little bit of love,
The trembling hand was strong
And nerved to win the battle,
Although the fight was long.
Just a little bit of love,
And wondrous is its power
To strengthen, bless and gladden
In every needy hour.
Someone Prayed
Someone prayed when my heart was lonely
Someone prayed and my heart grew lighter.
Someone prayed when I was too weary
Someone prayed and You gave me strength.
Someone prayed when my heart was broken
Someone prayed and You healed my wound.
Someone prayed when my cross was heavy
Someone prayed and You made it lighter.
Someone prayed when my footsteps were weary
Someone prayed and the miles grew shorter.
Someone prayed when my head was bowed
with worry, grief, anger and strife
Someone prayed and I thought of Your life.
Someone prayed when a mother's wept and
father's heart was about to break
Someone prayed and their hearts were tuned
to accept God's Will and His perfect peace.
Someone prayed when I could not feel Your
caring and loving, Your guiding my way
Someone prayed and You held my hand, the sun
grew brighter and I knew no fear.
Someone prayed when I lost a loved one and his
soul ascended on wings of prayer and You
taught me then through sorrow and loss to
reach out to others and shoulder their cross.
Someone prayed and I saw the light that You give
to those who are willing to share Your wondrous
Love through the power of prayer.
