Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

God values us so much that He gave us all that He has; His Son Jesus.
Show that you value Him, too, by putting Him first in all aspects of your
life. Lord, when I put You first in my life, order and peace follow.

S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; O LORD, heal me, for my
bones are shaking with terror. My soul also is struck with terror, while
you, O LORD--how long? Turn, O LORD, save my life; deliver me for the sake
of your steadfast love." ~Psalm 6:2-4

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

I believe that all sacrifice and all suffering is of value to me. When I am
in pain, I am often tested. Can I trust in God, not matter how I feel? Can
I say, "Your will be done," no matter how much I am defeated? If I can do
these things, my faith is real and practical. It can work in bad times as
well as in good times. God's will can work in a way that is beyond my
finite mind to understand, but I can still trust in it.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may take my suffering in my stride. I pray that I may accept
pain and defeat as they come, and grow spiritually as I receive God's
strength to make it through.

Peace and Love to you all, my friends! Hope you all had a good day and will still have a good evening. Today when we didn't receive the package yet from the NP we went to Barnes and Nobles and bought 3 books - now I should be having no more questions. One book is Glycemic Inex for Dummies, thought we'd need that being I never heard of the word before Wednesday! Then a couple cookbooks to get me going. So far, yet, I haven't found hamburger - we had that last night! Maybe they think hamburger is too fatty, but we buy the very lean, and organic ones. This morning the making of the kritchworst with his brothers out in our heated garage with Dave's turkey fryer used for boiling the pork hocks, everything turned out well. I used left over buckwheat pancake mix (that went into the recipe) for making pancakes for lunch for them all. Linus is watching his intake - Thanks be to God, I was surprised he only had one pancake and one sausage - he made sausages on the grill, too. The kritchworst is now chilling in pans, and then you slice it and fry it - not good for this diet, but we'll have his siblings over here some morning or noon or whatever and serve it. He wants to do this for his family because it's similar what was made on the farm that his Mom used to make. So my blessings today would be the nice time we had at Barnes and Nobles - sitting with coffee there, looking at the books and decided that yes, we want these.
They also had the Southbeach Diet there too, but I don't want to get confused so just will stick to this one. Another blessing was visiting with my brothers in law this morning. We meet again Sunday afternoon at Lori's when she cooks us a Mexican Lasagna. The rest of this evening will be spent reading and learning and making a grocery list.
I like getting the thread out early, I bet you do, too?

God Will Bring Life and Growth If We Prepare the Ground
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Heb 10:32-29 / Mk 4:26-34
Walking down any street or sitting on a bench watching the people go by, we cannot help being amazed at the endless diversity of the human race of which each of us is but a tiny part. At this very moment, there are billions of individual human beings alive on this planet, each one unique and like no other, each one a potential masterpiece in the making.

Will each one in fact become that masterpiece? Sad but true, the answer is no. In far too many of us, much or even most of the growth and prospering that was possible and that God fully intended for us will never come to be. That tragedy will surely come to be if we have not prepared the soil for the garden that God wants to plant in us.

How do we avoid that tragedy and make that all-important preparation? We learn to be quiet and to listen to the whispering of the Spirit in the life around us and within us. Like clay in the potter’s hands, we make ourselves available to being reshaped and changed by the Spirit. But before any of that can happen, a confident, expectant trust in the Spirit must envelop our soul.

God will bring life and growth if we prepare the ground of our soul to receive it. So trust him and get to work; there’s not a moment to lose.

Meditations on the Beatitudes

Lord Jesus, You said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Keep us from being preocuppied with money and worldly goods, and with trying to increase them at the expense of justice.

Lord Jesus, You said, "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth." Help us not to be ruthless with one another, and to eliminate the discord and violence that exists in the world around us.

Lord Jesus, You said, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Let us not be impatient under our own burdens and unconcerned about the burdens of others.

Lord Jesus, You said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they shall be filled." Make us thirst for you, the fountain of all holiness, and actively spread your influence in our private lives and in society.

Lord Jesus, You said, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy." Grant that we may be quick to forgive and slow to condemn.

Lord Jesus, You said, "Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shall see God." Free us from our senses and our evil desires, and fix our eyes on you.

Lord Jesus, You said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God." Aid us to make peace in our families, in our country, and in the world.

Lord Jesus, You said, "Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of justice, for the kingdom of heaven in theirs." Make us willing to suffer for the sake of right rather than to practice injustice; and do not let us discriminate against our neighbors and oppress and persecute them.

Jesus, I Want To Help You

May I become at all times,
both now and forever
A protector for those
without protection
A guide for those
who have lost their way
A ship for those with ocean to cross
A bridge for those with rivers to cross
A sanctuary for those in danger
A lamp for those without light
A place of refuge
for those who lack shelter
and a servant to all in need.

Bl. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

God Can...

When you feel unlovable, unworthy and unclean,
when you think that no one can heal you,
Remember, Friends
God Can.

When you think that you are unforgivable
for your guilt and your shame
Remember, Friend,
God Can.

When you think that all is hidden
and no one can see within
Friends Remember
God Can.

And when you have reached the bottom
And you think that no one can hear
Remember my dear Friend
God Can.

And when you think that no one can love
The real person deep inside of you
Remember my dear Friend,
God Does.

Recipe for Success

Ingredients:

1 cup Tension
2 cups Stress
1 1/2 teaspoons of Guilt
2 heaping cups of Limited Time
3/4 tablespoon of Urgency
A dash of "No Other Choice"
3 heaping cups of Faith

Directions:

Fold ingredients gently into a bowl. Mix vigorously and add a few tears. You'll sweat a little as you knead the dough. Pack it firmly between your hopes and dreams and form into a perfect little ball. Sprinkle it with a little faith, rolling the ball in the flour until fully covered.

Place it under a veil of belief and allow it to rise.

Put it in an oven that has been pre-set at the perfect temperature for the heat of trials and tribulations.

Allow it to brown under the warmth of God's love. Remove after due season and allow to cool in the confidence of His promise.

Garnish with your praises. Arrange neatly on a platter of thankfulness and serve to friends, families and, oh yes, strangers . . . invite them too!
