Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

If everyone thought alike, no one would have to do much thinking.
Lord, bless me with the strength of my convictions and the ability
to disagree when necessary without being disagreeable.

Scripture for the day:

"Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to
give you the kingdom." ~Luke 12:32

Meditation for the day:

The life-line, the line of rescue, is the line from the soul to God.
On
one end of the life-line is our faith and on the other end is God's power.
It can be a strong line and no soul can be overwhelmed who is linked to God
by it. I can trust in this life-line and never be afraid. God can save me
from doing wrong and from the cares and troubles of life. I can look to God
for help and trust God for aid when I am emotionally upset.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that no lack of trust of fearfulness will make me disloyal to God. I
pray that I may keep a stronghold on the life-line of faith.

Hello my friends! Today my husband and two of his brothers finished a good
job of putting shelves etc. under Lori's steps in the basement. I haven't
seen it yet, but he said it's better than he expected it to be and Lori is
very happy with it. Now she has more room for storage. A lot of wasted
space under there. Just an ordinary day here for me - but that's a
blessing! Tonight we both talked to Darla - she didn't have her review just
yet - when she was going to, all her papers had to be redone in a different
format, so she's busy doing that. She had two interviews for a better job,
one is even further away - an hour and a half from Fort Worth! The Dean
called her and and talked to her an hour and a half the other night.
Next week she should know if she's accepted at both places - gosh! I just
pray that God's will be done - and that she's happy. I wanted so much that
she would be coming closer to home. Maybe not yet. It was nice talking to
her as always.

Prayer in Time of Change

Eternal and everliving God, I am involved in a major change in my life,
and it is quite unsettling. I know that for us creatures, change is
an indication of life, but I still find it hard to accept.
Enable me to see your hand in it, subtly bringing about your plan for me
and enabling me to come closer to You.
Make me appreciate the many good aspects of change
and learn to live with the bad aspects.
Teach me to be pliable and adaptable to any change,
fully aware that once change stops for me,
I will no longer be alive on this earth. Amen.

Prayer to Practice What Jesus Taught
O Lord Jesus Christ, grant us a measure of your Spirit. Help us to
obey your teaching,
soothe anger,
cultivate pity,
overcome desire,
increase love,
cast off sorrow,
sun vainglory,
renounce revenge,
and not be afraid of death.
Let us ever entrust our spirit to the everlasting God who with you and the
Holy Spirit lives and rules forever and ever. Amen.

St Apollonius of Rome, Senator, Apologist and Martyr (Feast day February
9th)

Mother Teresa Said...

With God, nothing is impossible. I perceive the infinite greatness that we
can tap into. I see how He can work through us. Because you and I have
nothing on our own we need Him.
As the Bible says, God waits and looks.
Will we respond?

A Balanced Life

My life has been balanced
with pleasures and trials,
I've had many teardrops
and thousands of smiles.
I've soared to the moon
and I've plunged to the sand,
My life has been balanced
by God's loving hand.
I've had many friendships
I've had a few foes,
In the life of a Christian
that's the way that it goes.
Should I just accept
only good from God's hands?
No, I must endure
whatever He plans.
But I can be sure
and you can be, too,
All things work for best
as God deals with you.

Would You Be Jesus?

Would you be Jesus to the man who lives
In the streets without a home?
If he were thirsty, would you give him a drink,
Or comfort him when he's alone?

Could you be Jesus to the girl who's lost,
As she searches for love in vain,
While selling herself for a price each day
In a life that brings her such shame?

Do you smile at someone as they pass you by,
Or offer a kind word or two?
Your actions could help the lonely and lost,
If they could see Jesus in you.

Do your eyes reflect that place in your heart
That only Jesus can fill?
Is your time too little that you cannot stop
To seek and learn His will?

THE FENCE
Author Unknown

There was a little boy with a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of
nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, to hammer a
nail in the back fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into
the fence. Then it gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was
easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He
told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now
pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.
The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father
that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and
led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look
at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you
say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put
a knife in a man and draw it out.

It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still
there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Friends are a very
rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed.
They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to
open their hearts to us.

But your best friend of all should be Jesus. Show your friends how
much you care. Be like Jesus.

Five Finger Prayer

1. Thumb

Your thumb is nearest to you. So begin your prayers by praying for those
closest to you.

They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C.S.
Lewis once said, a "sweet duty".

2. Pointing finger

The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct
and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers.

They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep
them in your prayers.

3. Tallest finger

The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray
for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators.

These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's
guidance.

4. Ring finger

The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is fact that this
is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind
us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain.

They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. Little finger

And lastly comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all which is
where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others.

As the Bible says, "the least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinky
should remind you to pray for yourself.

By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will
be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself
more effectively.

Remember to give thanks in all things and ask forgiveness. And pray to do
God's will always!

Tomorrow is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes - here is a prayer:

February 11 (Motherly Love)

Divine Jesus, you sent the Blessed Mother to Saint Bernadette to show the
world that God is real. Just like Mary asked to the girl to dig for a spring
of healing water to appear, show me how to be cleansed of my sinful
tendencies. Give to me our dear Mother when I need her tender love and holy
inspiration. As I go through difficulties, cover me with her prayers. When I
have important decisions to make, ask her to intercede for me until I
understand and follow the Holy Spirits guidance. When it's time for me to
die, send her to carry me peacefully into the arms of our heavenly Father.
Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for me. Amen.

May you all have a wonderful Saturday and weekend - may it be restful, and
rest your eyes upon Jesus. Let Him take away any burden that you may have.
Just give it to Him and don't take it back.
