Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

We don't choose how or when we will die, but we do decide how we will live.
Lord, forgive my frequent drifting and help me to see clearly the best path
for me.

Scripture for the day:

"The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to
sustain the weary with a word. Morning by morning he wakens-- wakens my ear
to listen as those who are taught." ~Isaiah 50:4

Meditation for the day:

My five senses are my means of communication with the material world.
They are the links between my physical life and the material manifestations
around me. But I can sever all connections with the material world when I
wish to hold communion with God. I can hush my mind and bid all my senses
be still, before I can become attuned to communicate with the God who
created me and loves me so much.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may get my spirit in tune with the Spirit of God. I pray that
through faith and communion with God I may receive all the strength I need.

Hello my friends! Wow! What a funeral Joe had! The Church was packed - The
Deacon gave a nice service at the Immaculate Conception Church and the
Church was packed full! I've never seen such a large funeral - seemed like
the whole town was there! Lori gave a really nice Eulogy telling how Joe
was to us as family - and his character, and she got lots of compliments
about it. I found this out recently, friends, and this is really something!
Mary, Our Blessed Mother appeared to Joe maybe a couple months ago - and he
took her picture. It came out with part of his cabin on the background, and
her picture was a bright outline of herself wearing a crown. It was such a
beautiful picture - and he presented it to his Mother at Christmas -
everyone was stunned! He said if he didn't take the picture no one would
believe him! Now we don't know if she spoke to him, but that we know he saw
her, made it seem much more comforting to know she was there with him and
met him to take him to Our Lord. Everyone commented on how real that
picture was - and Erma sure treasures it, it was there to everyone to see
framed. Ok - after Church we were to a bar where Joe used to work,
cleaning, and before his sisters picked that bar for the luncheon, they saw
a sign on the door saying to bear with them, they lost one of theirs in a
tragic death, and if anyone wants to celebrate Joey's life - to come there -
details later. So they knew that's where they needed to go, and the bar
took care of everything. The family brought some food, but the town brought
so much - we never saw such a spread of food and for a funeral. The bar was
crowded, it was shut down for Joe's funeral luncheon and we met a lot of his
friends who all called him Joey - and how they loved him, and how good he
was to everyone around. I got to know my nephew a lot better today - I
always knew he was a special guy, but having the town come and bring so much
food, it was just overwhelming! That, my friends, is a blessing! After we
got home, we got some good quality family time and that was another
blessing. May His soul rest in peace with Jesus and Mary. Thank you for
all who posted and offered prayers, Erma was amazingly strong and visited
with everyone. I never saw her break down and cry. Her Parkinson's did not
seem so bad. Another blessing. She ate good there!

Prayer to St. Francis for Life

Gentle St. Francis, you were so devoted to the humanity of Christ. Your
heart burst with appreciation toward God for taking on human life. You saw
beauty and goodness in all living things - in birds that sing, the fish that
fill our waters, and all that lives in nature.

Help us to imitate your reverence for life wherever it may be. Especially,
humble Francis of Assisi, help us to help others to see the worth of each
living, unborn baby sheltered in its mother's womb.

May all people have the grace to understand that these tiny, budding lives
have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Through Me

Through me let there be kind words, a warm smile,
and a caring heart.

Through me let there be a willingness to listen
and a readiness to understand.

Through me let there be dependability, steadfastness,
trust and loyalty.

Through me let there be compassion, forgiveness,
mercy and love.

Through me let there be every quality I find,
O Lord, in Thee.

The More You Get

The more you give, the more you get
The more you do unselfishly
The more you live abundantly.
The more of everything you share,
The more you laugh, the less you fret.
The more you'll always have to spare.
The more you love, the more you'll find
That life is good and friends are kind.
For only what we give away,
Enriches us from day to day.

May you all have a great Saturday - we are planning a brunch tomorrow noon
with the girls before Darla leaves. God bless you all for your support and
prayers! They have helped and are still helping!
