Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello my friends! The time is coming so fast and so much to do yet. Linus was called to work, I worked, and in two days we leave. Fr. Jerry comes tomorrow afternoon, he'll bless us for the trip, and I'm making some good soup for him! Please pray for our safety, and no stress. Praying for all of you!!!

Faith is what lifts me to the level of possibility and opens the door to God's promises. Lord, continue to strengthen my belief and bless me with unyielding faith.

Scripture for the Day

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." — Matthew 11:28-30

Meditation for the Day

I can believe that fundamentally all is well. Good things can happen to me. I believe that God cares for me and will provide for me. I need not try to plan ahead. I know that the way will unfold, step by step. I can leave tomorrow's burden to God, because God is the great burden-bearer. God only expects me to carry my one-day's share.

Prayer for the Day

I pray that I may not try to carry the burden of the universe on my shoulders. I pray that I may be satisfied to do my share each day.

Meaning of Christmas

Long ago there ruled in Persia a wise and good king. He loved his people. He wanted to know how they lived. He wanted to know about the hardships they suffered. Often he dressed in the clothes of a workingman or a beggar and went to the homes of the poor. No one he visited thought he was their ruler.
One time he visited a very poor man who lived in a cave. He ate the coarse food the poor man ate. He spoke kind, cheerful words to him. Then he left. Later he visited the poor man again and told him clearly, "I am your king."
How surprised the poor man was! The king thought that the man would surely ask for some gift or favor. But he did not. Instead, he said:
"You left your palace and your glory to visit me in this dark, dreary place. You ate the coarse food I ate. You brought gladness to my heart. To others you have given your rich gifts. To me you have given yourself."

Two Frogs - Be Special To Others

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods when two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all their might.
The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog communicated to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.
This story teaches two lessons:
1. There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.
2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them. Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path.
The power of words ... it is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times. Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another.

Are you ready??

"Ready for Christmas," she said with a sigh
As she gave a last touch to the gifts piled high...
Then wearily sat for a moment AND READ
Til soon, very soon, she was nodding her head.
Then quietly spoke a voice in her dream,
"Ready for Christmas, what do you mean?"
She woke with a start and a cry of despair.
"There's so little time and I've still to prepare.
Oh, Father! Forgive me, I see what You mean!
Yes, more than the giving of gifts and a tree.
It's the heart swept clean that He wanted to see,
A heart that is free from bitterness and sin.
So be ready for Christmas - and ready for Him.

Let's Pray
Dear Lord, I want to be ready for Jesus today and everyday. I come to You now in repentance for my sins: my sin of selfishness, stubbornness, and rebellion. I turn from my self-centeredness today and commit to keep my focus on You. God, I cannot do this on my own. I am not able. So I ask that you fill me with the power of Your Holy Spirit Who empowers me to obey. Thank You that You have given me every thing I need for a life of godliness and truth. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord
our God,
the heavens are
the work of your hands,
the moon and the stars you
made;
the earth and the sea, and every
living creature came into being
by your word. And all of us, too.
May this tree bring cheer to this house
though Jesus Christ your good and holy Son,
who brings life
and beauty to us
and to our world.
Lighting this tree, we hope in his promise.

Mother Teresa Said...
We Christians cannot be divided.
We must all work together.
We are all one.
In this unity, where two or three are gathered,
Christ is there with us.

Meditations by Padre Pio
May the Holy Family never withdraw its loving gaze from you and your family, Model yourselves on it and you will have peace, and spiritual and temporal well-being.

Thanks Julie!

In thinking things over, tomorrow will be the last day I'll post the thread instead of Sunday because we are leaving after the early Mass and won't have time - we leave on the 28th to come back home. Counting on your prayers!!!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Good Morning!

I've been rereading the "Small Notebook" blog this morning. Someone had mentioned it somewhere on the boards a long time ago, and I love reading it. The Christmas posts are some of my favorites. The writing there encourages me to always remember that we have enough, and being content with what we have is a huge part of being happy. When I say thank you to God each day, and recall all that we've been blessed with, it's very humbling. I hope we can pass on enough to others to show our gratitude. Hope this doesn't sound preachy, it's just how I feel, and for some reason I felt compelled to share it today.

Julie: Good luck with the psoriasis treatments. My DH has it, and it's hard for him to control it. I'd encouraged him to try the biologics ( sp?), but he feels it's too risky and won't take the chance. I understand him being cautious, as he has many health issues, and doesn't need any more.

Gloria: I know you'll have a wonderful time with your family, and yes we will be praying for safe travels for you all. I think we're supposed to have precipitation in our forecast for Christmas Eve. I dread thinking of snow for my family to drive in again, as they've had to the past few winter holidays.

Harlene, Lucy, and all of our posters: Wishing you peace this last few days of preparations. I went for groceries late afternoon yesterday, and one of the ladies at the store told me it had been crazy busy all day. I must have hit a lull, as I didn't wait anywhere I'd stopped. Unless we need a basic like milk or bread, my only outing will be mass tomorrow, and then on Christmas day.

Hoping some of our readers will be inspired to post! Come join us! There are some amazing and inspiring ladies on the thread, and they're the reason I knew I wanted to return to post here. Have a good weekend everyone! Hugs, pinky

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Good morning everyone,

I would like to share this with you from the book "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young

"DO NOT BE WEIGHED DOWN by the clutter in your life: lots of little chores to do sometime, in no particular order. If you focus too much on these petty tasks, trying to get them all out of the way, you will discover that they are endless. They can eat up as much time as you devote to them.

Instead of trying to do all your chores at once, choose the ones that need to be done today. Let the rest slip into the background of your mind, so I can be in the forefront of your awareness. Remember that your ultimate goal is living close to Me, being responsive to My initiatives. I can communicate with you most readily when your mind is uncluttered and turned toward Me, Seek My Face continually throughout this day. Let My Presence bring order to your thoughts, infusing Peace into your entire being."

Gloriajean, prayers for a safe journey for you and your loved ones. May God give you good weather, keep you free from any accidents, car troubles, or tickets, and return everyone back home safely.

Harlene, prayers continue for Bernie and Joan. And prayers for you for a great outcome on Monday.

Pinky Ann, it's always nice to hear from you. I am also praying for Brett. I can relate to what he must be feeling and going through. As always prayers for you and your loved ones. Hope and pray that all your loved ones arrive safely.

Julie, glad to hear that you had a good time in TN. Thank you for all of the graphics. Thank you for your time that you give in looking for them. Prayers for you and your husband.

Lucy, thank you for your stories, and graphics. I am praying for a safe journey for your son, and only for some good outcomes in his life.

I have to go to work today, and then I am off tomorrow. I am so thankful for this job. I must work while I can, because this to will end sooner, then I want. Keeping everyone in my prayers. Thank you for yours. Until next time...

Take care, stay safe, and God Bless.

Love, and prayers. Juanita

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Juanita: Thank you for the prayers for Brett. I have the devotional "Jesus Calling", mine is in calendar form. I love it, and it's the first thing I read every, single day! I hope you love it too. I saw it in a bookstore a couple of years ago, and instantly knew I'd love it. Hope you're not too tired from work, and are enjoying the wonderful advent season.

Harlene: Thank you for praying too!

Cakers: Beautiful pictures! I love the peaceful feeling they convey. I'd love to have them for on the wall.

Bobbiesue: Merry Christmas to you too!

Have a good night everyone. Sleep well. pinky
