Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Each day there are lessons to learn and lives to touch. Lord, You
have done so much for me. Help me to repay You.

Scripture for the day:

"And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all
peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; he will swallow up
death forever. Then the Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from all
faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the
earth, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said on that day, Lo, this is
our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the
LORD for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his
salvation." ~Isaiah 25:7-9

Meditation for the day:

We can live today in the consciousness of God's contact, upholding us in
all good thoughts, words and deeds. If sometimes there seems to be a
shadow on our lives and we feel out of sorts, we can remember that this
is not the withdrawal of God's presence, but only our own temporary
unwillingness to realize it. The quiet gray days are the days for doing
what we must do, but we can know that the consciousness of God's
nearness will return and be with us again, when the gray days are past.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may face the dull days with courage. I pray that I may
have faith that the bright days will return.

Greetings to you, my friends! Hope your day went well. It was a warm, but
very windy day here today - rain for the weekend I heard. In the morning
Linus leaves with his brothers, sisters, and cousins for their trip to Grand
Forks, ND to visit their cousin there - in her 80's. It should be a nice
time for all. I'll be busy doing some cleaning etc. and won't have to have
meals on time - it'll be a nice break and I'll be here for Sammy. Two cars
are going. Lori will take me to Mass on Sunday morning. Hubby's day off -
he did a lot of yard work, it was an ordinary day here for us - a blessed
ordinary day! Today, on the Feast of the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary - we
brought Sammy home to live with us - 7 years ago. He was 7 weeks old and 2
pounds and what a blessing he is to us!

Commitment Is Not Divisible
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Jl 1:13-15; 2:1-2 / Lk 11:15-26

Self-protection is a powerful instinct and we make abundant efforts at it in
daily conversation. Often times it’s a matter of not wanting to name and
claim as our own the full reality of a problem or a failure, to say nothing
of our desperation to not claim it in the presence of others. So we minimize
and play down things that are serious and not small at all. We say things
like, “I cheated a little on the test,” (I stole every single answer) or “I’m
kinda pregnant,” (I’m in my eighth month) or “There’s a chance I could be
HIV positive,” (I got the test results six months ago.) That kind of talk is
pure, unadulterated self-deception, that lets us live in the illusion that
we’re basically okay and don’t really need to take any action or make any
changes.

In today’s gospel, Jesus makes it clear that he wants no part of such
self-deceptions. Half-baked commitments or half-hearted responses to him are
stamped “No Sale” when he says, “Whoever is not with me is against me, and
whoever does not gather with me scatters.” For him, “maybe” or “kinda,
sorta” are as good as “no.” So watch yourself for signs of fence straddling
and trying to have things both ways. It won’t wash with Christ, and
eventually it will even disgust you.

Our Lady of the Rosary

Heavenly King, praying the Rosary holds more power than I can imagine. It
often saved Christian Europe from Muslim invaders. The Blessed Mother taught
three children in Fatima that the Rosary obtains special graces for us,
saves sinners from H ell, and protects us from evil spirits. I ask Our Lady
to accept my prayers into her Immaculate Heart, multiply their power through
the greatness of her love, and then carry Your help to those in need. O
Jesus, as I turn to Your Mother for support in prayer, bind us to the golden
chain of her most holy Rosary, trusting that she will take care of our
souls. Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us. Amen.

Prayer and Meditation for Using Holy Water
"By this holy water and by Your Precious Blood, wash away all my sins, O
Lord."

St. Theresa of Avila on holy water: "From long experience I have learned
that there is nothing like holy water to put devils to flight and prevent
them from coming back again. They also flee from the cross, but return; so
holy water must have great value."

Holy water is a means of spiritual wealth -- a sacramental that remits
venial sin. The Church strongly urges its use, especially when dangers
threaten. The devil hates holy water because of its power over him. He
cannot long abide in a place or near a person that is often sprinkled with
this blessed water.

Jesus Is Wonderful
Jesus is wonderful,
He is so good,
He's done everything
that he said he would!
He's kept every promise
that he ever made
And for our sins
on the cross, he paid!
Our Jesus is loving
so gentle and kind;
There is no other like him
that we'll ever find!
To him be all honor
and to him be the glory;
All praise to His name,
for He is our song and

Holy name!
Our heavenly Father who for
our sins was slain!

Call to Prayer

The rising sun shines on the rich and poor alike.
The spirit of God reminds us daily of our responsibility
to care for the poor and those less fortunate
because they are the special presence of God in our midst.

from Living God’s Justice: Reflections and Prayers

Morning Prayer
I worship you, O my Lord, and I acknowledge you as my God and master. Teach
me, I beg You, to know, love, and serve You, all the days of my life and for
eternity. I offer you my day, and I resolve to spend it in Your love and
that of my neighbor. Amen.

Live in Hope!

Romans 5:5

Hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our
hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

We hope, not because we are not certain, but because we have a faith that
transcends mere certainty. We hope, not because heaven is far away and we
are stuck on earth, but because in the Incarnation, heaven was born in the
form of a baby in Bethlehem, was crucified, died, and rose again. We hope
because the very worst thing that can possibly happen has already happened
and, so far from it leading to Cosmic Despair, has lead to life from the
dead and the gift of the Holy Spirit. If God is for us, who can be against
us? If God can bring eternal life for a race of murderers out of the death
of his own murdered Son, what possible limits can there be to his mercy?
None, except for our refusal to receive that mercy. Today, receive the mercy
of God and walk in newness of life in the Holy Spirit.

Unceasing Prayer

Dear Father, who answers our prayers,

Help me to be steadfast in my praying to you, even to stay awake that I may
pray!

Fill my life with thanksgiving to you.

O God, I pray for all your servants everywhere that you may open a door for
us to proclaim your Word, to declare the now-public secret - Christ
crucified, glorified, and coming - and to make the message clear, as we
ought to speak.

In the name of Jesus I ask you to fill our lives with your holy life and to
claim all our motives and deeds as your own. Amen.

Good night everyone! Sweet Dreams to all and here's hoping for a wonderful,
peaceful, positive Saturday and start of a great weekend with warmth of the
Sun, and the Son!
