Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

If you are not happy with what you have, how will you be happy with what you
want to have? Lord, may I appreciate the good things in my life and refuse
to
feel sorry for myself or compare myself to others.

Scripture for the day:

"Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been
revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him,
for we will see him as he is." ~1 John 3:2

Meditation for the day:

I can try to love all humanity. Love comes from thinking of every person as
our brother or sister, because they are children of God.
This way of thinking can make me care enough about them to really want to
help them. I can put this kind of love into action by serving others. Love
means no severe judging, no resentments, no malicious gossip, and no
destructive criticism. I means patience, understanding, compassion and
helpfulness.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may realize that God loves me. I pray that I in turn may have
love for all God's children.

Greetings my dear friends! Hope your day went well. We had a very nice day
today - temp in the lower 70's, very comfortable indeed. We went to Sprint
today with Lori and got a new phone, not sure yet if I'll like it, but have
to get used to it. I have a month's free trial. We are on the Family Plan
with my two daughters, and Darla pays for us, a great blessing!
She insists on it! Lori will have to come over sometime soon and put in my
speed dials again and a new ringer. She always does that for us. We've
always had Sprint and satisfied with them. So many blessings God gives us in
one day - it would be so hard to count them all, right? I know, some have
life very hard and it's hard to count the blessings, when in a lot of pain
etc. but He still is with us all, and loves us unconditionally, and wants us
to completely rely upon Him, always, even when it's hard to. God be with
you all!!

Deliver Your Gifts
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Josh 24:1-13 / Mt 19:3-12

"I gave you a land you had not tilled and cities you had not built to dwell
in. You have eaten of vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant."
So said the Lord to the Israelites, and so might he speak to us all.
Everything we have: life, breath, family, hopes, dreams, loves, and every
sort of gift and talent. God gave it all to us, all unearned. He gave it and
he continues to give it day-by-day even when we’re at our worst.

When we catch a glimpse of the immensity of God’s gifts and how little we’ve
done to earn them, our minds stumble. From the depths of our souls, we want
to SAY thanks and GIVE thanks, but how do we do that?

We shrug our shoulders and shake our heads. What do we have to give to God?
Just one thing: the very gifts that God is giving us, we can give to his
people. God is a good father and that’s all he asks: "Carry your gifts to
those of my children who need them."

And we must respond: "I will, Lord. I will."

Your daily reading from
St. Faustina's diary (I"ve got this book - it's a thick one - very
inspirational)

August 12

Once, when my confessor told me to say "Glory be to the Father" as my
penance, it took me a very long time; and I began many times, but did not
finish, because my spirit became united with God, and I could not stick to
the prayer. Quite frequently, I am unwittingly enveloped by God's
omnipotence and become entirely plunged in Him through love, and then I do
not know what is going on around me. When I told my confessor that this
short prayer often takes very much of my time and that sometimes I cannot
even finish it, he told me to say it right away, there, at the confessional.
However, my spirit became immersed in God and, in spite of my efforts, I
could not think as I wished. And so the confessor said, "Please repeat after
me." I repeated every word, but while I was pronouncing each word, my spirit
would be steeped in the Person I was naming. (577)

The words of Our Lord Jesus Christ are in boldface. The words of Our Lady
are in italics.

Dear Jesus, help us to spread Your fragrance everywhere we go.

Flood our souls with Your spirit and life.

Penetrate and possess our whole being, so utterly,

That our lives may only be a radiance of Yours.

Shine through us, and be so in us,

That every soul we come in contact with may feel Your presence in our soul.

Let them look up and see no longer us, but only Jesus!

Stay with us, and then we shall begin to shine as You shine;

So to shine as to be a light to others.

The light O Jesus will be all from You, none of it will be ours;

It will be You, shining on others through us.

Let us thus praise You in the way you love best: by shining on others
through us.

let us preach you without preaching, not by words but by our example,

By the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what we do, The evident

fullness of the love our hearts bear to You. Amen."

(Cardinal John Henry Newman)

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:

where there is hatred let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is discord, harmony;

where there is error, truth;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

where there is sadness, joy.

Lord, may I not so much seek to be consoled as to console;

to be understood as to understand;

to be loved as to love.

Because it is in giving that we receive,

in pardoning that we are pardoned. Amen."

(ST. Francis of Assisi)

Make us worthy, Lord, to serve our fellow men throughout the world, who live
and die in poverty and hunger. Give them today, through our hands, their
daily bread and through our understanding love, give peace and joy. Amen

(Pope Paul VI.)

Remember, o most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone
who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession
was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence we fly to You, o virgin of
the virgins, our Mother. To you we come, before you we stand sinful and
sorrowful. O Mother of the word incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in
your clemency, hear and answer us. Amen

Value and Reward

A quality you should always look for in the people you allow to join you on
your journey is loyalty. Although this alone does not ensure success in
another person, a lack of loyalty is sure to ruin your relationship with
him/her.
Think of it this way: When you're looking for someone with a potential to
lead, you
want them to be loyal, and if someone you are considering taking on the
journey
with you does not posses loyalty don't even consider taking them with you
because in the end they'll hurt you more than they'll help you. So what does
it mean for others to be loyal to you?

They love you unconditionally. They accept you with all your strengths and
all your weaknesses intact. They genuinely care for you, not just for what
you can do for them.

They represent you well to others. Loyal people always paint a positive
picture of
you with others. They may take you to task privately or hold you
accountable, but they never criticize you to others.

They are able to laugh and cry with you as you travel together. Loyal people
are
willing and able to share your joys and sorrows. They make the trip less
lonely.
They make your dreams their dreams. Some people will undoubtedly share the
journey with you only briefly. You help one another for a while and then go
your
separate ways. But a few a Special Few---will want to come alongside you and
help
you for the rest of the journey. Cherish these people for they are the ones
that make your dreams their dreams for a life time. If you find people like
that take good
care of them because they are marked on your road map for success.

Do you inspire loyalty anyone? Show gratitude to the loyal people in your
inner circle today. Have a wonderful weekend and cherish the loyal people
that are in your life today. Be blessed!

Mary, Our Model in Prayer

All praise and glory are Yours, almighty Father:
You have given us Your Son Jesus to save us from sin.
We praise You for choosing Mary to be His mother,
for teaching her to believe Your message,
for helping her to accept Your holy will.
Strengthen us by Your Spirit to be like Mary
to ponder Your word in our hearts,
to obey Your will,
to love Your Son,
to sing Your praises every day.
Father, we praise You through Jesus Christ Your Son
In the love of Your Spirit, for ever and ever

Amen.

My Lord,
I offer you my thoughts: to be fixed on you;
My words: to have you for their theme;
My actions: to reflect my love for you;
My sufferings: to be endured for your greater glory.

I want to do what you ask of me:
In the way you ask,
For as long as you ask,
Because you ask it.

Lord, enlighten my understanding,
Strengthen my will,
Purify my heart,
and make me holy.

Help me to repent of my past sins
And to resist temptation in the future.
Help me to rise above my human weaknesses
And to grow stronger as a Christian.

Amen

THANK YOU, GOD

Thank you, Father, for happy things,
like holiday times with people we love
like silly rhymes with made-up lines,
and bird songs and breezes and sunshine above.

And thank you, Father, for quiet things,
like snowflakes that silently fall in the night,
like good-night kisses that brush my face,
like a soft, warm bed where happy dreams wait.

And thank you, Father, learning things,
like watching the fish that swim in the brook,
like walks in the woods when leaves turn bright,
or reading the stories in our Bible book.

And thank you Father, for living things,
like spicy kitchen smells on Thanksgiving day,
like Mommy's arms when things go wrong,
like a phone call from those who live far away.

Father, you take care of our family
every minute throughout the year.
We're glad you gave us a special day
to remember and thank you for your care.

Please help the families all over the world,
especially those who are poor or sad,
to remember how much you love them today
so they will know the same joy that we've had.

Good night everyone! Sweet Dreams to all and may you all have a great
Saturday and weekend!! God bless you!
