Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Live today so that you will make life better for those around you. You will
end up making your life better too. Lord, You teach that it is in giving that
I receive. May I always have a generous spirit.

Scripture for the day:

"'Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who
fell into the hands of the robbers?' He said, 'The one who showed him
mercy.' Jesus said to him, 'Go and do likewise.'" ~Luke 10:36-37

Meditation for the day:

We can accept the difficulties and disciplines of life and thereby
fully share the common life of other people. Many things that we need
to accept in life are not to be taken so much as being necessary for
us personally. In our disappointments and difficulties we share in the
problems of humanity. We can accept the compassion and understanding
of others. We can share many of these experiences of life in order to
understand and sympathize with others. Unless we have been through
the same experiences, we cannot understand other people or their
makeup well enough to be able to help them.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may accept everything that comes my way as a part of
life. I pray that I may make use of it in helping other people.

Greetings on this Pentecost evening! Hope you all had a great Sunday - I rested - we had no plans so we cooked and ate and rested after our wonderful 10:30 Mass for Pentecost! No TV on - and now I'm feeling so much better and although it was cool out, it was still nice out in the porch, watching the birds etc. I'm missing Lori this weekend, can't even call her as she's busy with her Seminar but just thinking that Friday Darla is starting her drive back here and will be here for Father's Day, next Sunday we'll have the family home again! Nice to look forward to. Families are such blessings! We put up with a lot - but it's all worth it, right, parents? Today being an ordinary Sunday with no plans, was a blessing! No open house, and all week, no showings, it's like normal over here now. We'll see what next week brings.

Pentecost Prayers
God our Father, let the Spirit you sent on your Church to begin the teaching of the gospel continue to work in the world through the hearts of all who believe. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Father of light, from whom every good gift comes, send your Spirit into our lives with the power of a mighty wind, and by the flame of your wisdom open the horizons of our minds. Loosen our tongues to sing your praise in words beyond the power of speech, for without your Spirit man could never raise his voice in words of peace or announce the truth that Jesus is Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

An unemployed man is desperate to support his family of a wife and three kids. He applies for a janitor's
job at a large firm and easily passes an aptitude test.

The human resources manager tells him, "You will be hired at minimum wage of $5.15 an hour. Let me have
your e-mail address so that we can get you in the loop. Our system will automatically e-mail you all the
forms and advise you when to start and where to report on your first day."

Taken back, the man protests that he is poor and has neither a computer nor an e-mail address. To this the
manager replies, "You must understand that to a company like ours that means that you virtually do not
exist. Without an e-mail address you can hardly expect to be employed by a high-tech firm. Good day."

Stunned, the man leaves. Not knowing where to turn and having $10 in his wallet, he walks past a farmers'
market and sees a stand selling 25-lb crates of beautiful red tomatoes. He buys a crate, carries it
to a busy corner and displays the tomatoes. In less than 2 hours he sells all the tomatoes and makes 100%
profit. Repeating the process several times more that day, he ends up with almost $100 and arrives home that
night with several bags of groceries for his family.

During the night he decides to repeat the tomato business the next day. By the end of the week he is
getting up early every day and working into the night. He multiplies his profits quickly. Early in the second
week he acquires a cart to transport several boxes of tomatoes at a time, but before a month is up he sells
the cart to buy a broken-down pickup truck.

At the end of a year he owns three old trucks. His two sons have left their neighborhood gangs to help him
with the tomato business, his wife is buying the tomatoes, and his daughter is taking night courses at
the community college so she can keep books for him.

By the end of the second year he has a dozen very nice used trucks and employs fifteen previously unemployed
people, all selling tomatoes. He continues to work hard.

Time passes and at the end of the fifth year he owns a fleet of nice trucks and a warehouse that his wife
supervises, plus two tomato farms that the boys manage. The tomato company's payroll has put hundreds
of homeless and jobless people to work. His daughter reports that the business grossed a million dollars.

Planning for the future, he decides to buy some life insurance. Consulting with an insurance adviser, he
picks an insurance plan to fit his new circumstances. Then the adviser asks him for his e-mail address in
order to send the final documents electronically.

When the man replies that he doesn't have time to mess with a computer and has no e-mail address, the
insurance man is stunned, "What, you don't have e-mail? No computer? No Internet? Just think where you
would be today if you'd had all of that five years ago!"

" Ha!" snorts the man. "If I'd had e-mail five years ago I would still be sweeping floors at Microsoft and making
$5.15 an hour."

STOLEN CAR
(A Lesson For All Of Us)
-author unknown

I was sitting at a stop light this morning. The lady in front of me
was going through papers on the seat of her car, and when the
light changed to green she did not obey its command -- a green
light is a commandment - NOT a suggestion.

When the light turned to red, and she had still not moved, I began
(with my windows up) screaming epithets and beating on my steering
wheel. My expressions of distress were interrupted by a policeman,
gun drawn, tapping on my window. Against my protestations of, "You
can't arrest me for hollering in my car," he ordered me into the back
seat of his squad car.

After about two hours in a holding cell, the arresting officer advised
me I was free to go. I said, "I knew you couldn't arrest me for what
I was yelling in my own car. You haven't heard the last of this."

The officer replied, "I didn't arrest you for shouting in your car. I
was directly behind you at the light. I saw you screaming and beating
your steering wheel, and I said to myself, "What a jerk. But there is
nothing I can do to him for throwing a fit in his own car. Then I
noticed the 'Cross' hanging from your rear view mirror, the bright
yellow 'Choose Life' license tag, the 'Jesus is Coming Soon' bumper
sticker, and the Fish symbol, and I thought you must have stolen the
car."

HOW TO BE HAPPY ?
We all want to be happy. We all seek happiness in a thousand different ways but we forget to look for it in the only place it can be found. Riches and glory and the goods of this life cannot guarantee happiness, nor, can they save us from evils and sorrows. No friend can take from us the fear and the danger of death. God and God alone can give happiness in life and in death.
He is the best of Fathers, the dearest of Friends. He wishes to give us happiness and He solemnly promises to give it to all who are devoted to His Sacred Heart.

Read His Promises, their meaning is clear. Jesus promises clearly to help us in our difficulties, to console us in our sorrows, to bless our undertakings, to give everyone the helps and graces necessary for their position in life. He promises the mother, the husband, the doctor, the lawyer, the priest------everyone------the graces necessary, for the perfect fulfillment of their individual duties.

What more could we ask for?

WHAT'S IN YOUR SPONGE?
Author Unknown
June 12, 2011

There are 5 sponges laying on your kitchen counter top. Each member of
your family has been cleaning up different areas of your home, but
all the sponges look the same. You are curious as to what was cleaned
in your home, but you can't tell by looking...they all look the
same....so what do you do?

You squeeze each sponge to see what comes out. As you squeeze the
first sponge, you see that cola comes out, and so you decide that
someone cleaned the kitchen with that one. Upon squeezing the second
sponge, you find tub and tile cleaner - that one was used to clean the
bathroom.

Next, in the third sponge, you find motor oil -- hubby was cleaning
the garage!

In the fourth sponge, baby powder puffs out when it is squeezed -- yep
the baby's nursery was done with that one!

And finally, in the last one, is floor wax -- that was the one you
used on the hall floor!

As you lay the last one down, you look again at their similarity - and
they all look the same until they're squeezed.

Christians are the same way. As life squeezes us, different things
come out - anger from one, a need for revenge from another, tears from
one, remorse from yet another - also greed, untruth, lust - and
finally, from one saint, pours forth the love of Christ.
Just like the sponge, we can only squeeze out what is put in - stay in
the Word daily, and be in continuous prayer, so that when life puts
the squeeze on you (and it WILL), Jesus, and Jesus ALONE will shine
forth from you!

Have a blessed, squeaky clean day!

PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Saint Augustine of Hippo

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.

Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.

Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy.

Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.

Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy.

Amen.

Good night everyone - Sweet Dreams to all and may your Monday be so filled with so many blessings you'll just have to share with us!!
God bless each and every one of you! Thanks for all your prayers! You all are in mine.
