Daily Positive Thread for Monday

It is very humbling to realize that often what burdens us the most would be

very missed if it were taken away. Lord, I will take the time to appreciate

my life.

Scripture for the day:

"'Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy

burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn

from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest

for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.'"

~Matthew 11:28-30

Meditation for the day:

We can lay upon God our failures and mistakes and shortcomings.

We need not dwell upon our failures, upon the fact that in the past

we have been nearer a beast than an angel. We have a mediator

between us and God. Our growing faith can lift us up from the mire and

point us toward the heavens. We can still be reconciled with

God. We can still regain our harmony with God and God's will for

us.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may not let the beast in me hold me back from my spiritual

destiny. I pray that I may rise and walk upright.

Hello my friends! It sure was a good thing we went to Mass last night as it's snowing all day today - my husband used the snow blower on the driveway, but it's still snowing and predicted through Monday. It's just coming down softly now, but tomorrow is predicted heavy winds with it. Blessings today - 1) visiting with Lori on the phone, and that she's much better now, 2) Linus being home all day - and just having a very relaxing day, 3) glad our Consoling the Heart of Jesus class was cancelled tonight so we didn't miss it. It's just starting written by the same priest who wrote the Marian Retreat book "33 Days to Morning Glory", a very good book, which Lori will be doing during Lent, and 4) tricked Sammy with his Cosaquin in hot dogs. In the morning he doesn't want to eat anything, so waited until we had our lunch. He still eats very little. Praying for you all - thanks for your prayers for us.

It's Time To Throw It Out...

Last week I threw out Worrying,

It was getting old and in the way.

It kept me from being me;

I couldn't do things my way.

I threw out those Inhibitions;

They were just crowding me out.

Made room for my New Growth,

Got rid of my old dreams and doubts.

I threw out a book on My Past

(Didn't have time to read it anyway).

Replaced it with New Goals,

Started reading it today.

I threw out childhood toys

Remember how I treasured them so?

Got me a New Philosophy too,

Threw out the one from long ago.

Bought in some new books too,

Called I Can, I Will, and I Must.

Threw out I might, I think and I ought.

Wow!, You should've seen the dust.

I picked up this special thing

And placed it at the front door.

I Found It - its called Peace

Nothing gets me down anymore.

Yes, I've got my house looking nice.

Looks good around the place

For things like Worry and Trouble

There just isn't any place.

Its good to do a little house cleaning,

Get rid of the old things on the shelf.

It sure makes things brighter.

Thank You God for cleaning up my-self.

THE FENCE

Author Unknown

There was a little boy with a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of

nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, to hammer a

nail in the back fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into

the fence. Then it gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was

easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He

told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now

pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father

that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and

led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look

at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you

say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put

a knife in a man and draw it out.

It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still

there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Friends are a very

rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed.

They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to

open their hearts to us.

But your best friend of all should be Jesus. Show your friends how

much you care. Be like Jesus.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. If God allowed us to go through our lives without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been.

I asked for Strength ... and God gave me Difficulties to make me strong.

I asked for Wisdom ... and God gave me Problems to solve.

I asked for Prosperity ... and God gave me a Brain to work.

I asked for Courage ... and God gave me Danger to overcome.

I asked for Love ... and God gave me Troubled people to help.

I asked for Favours ... and God gave me Opportunities.

I received nothing I wanted ... I received everything I needed!

May your path be bright and full of light everywhere you go.

May the desires of your heart come true, and may you experience Peace in everything you do.

Mother Teresa Said...

With God, nothing is impossible. I perceive the infinite greatness that we can tap into. I see how He can work through us. Because you and I have nothing on our own we need Him.

As the Bible says, God waits and looks.

Will we respond?
