Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello dear friends! Brrr! Cold today - it was 16 below zero when we got up and wind chill more when we went to Mass this morning! It was good to stay in afterwards. Mass was beautiful, and nice sharing with people afterwards, we have a very nice Church Community and priest we love! One week yet and Lori comes home. She is scheduled to come on the 27th. I haven't heard from her since Thursday night, was hoping for today, but so far nothing. Praying for you Harlene for your appointment tomorrow morning and that the roads won't be bad. Darn that snow, huh? Bobbiesue, I think she's doing alright there, according to her last messages, sure hope so as she doesn't message often and when she does it's short. Can hardly wait for her to come back home, and I can hardly wait for Spring to come with Spring Weather!! Last night's fund raiser was fun - it was a good dinner, lots of entertainment, good company at our table, we didn't buy anything at the silent auction though. Sometimes I wonder if those eye drops are helping. Eye seems the same, but at least I know it's nothing serious. Praying for you all and all your intentions - may your prayers be answered all according to God's Holy Will.

Do not act as though you are watching a parade because we are each one
of the marchers. Lord, things change so quickly. Help me to celebrate the
constant newness of my life.

"The one who endures to the end will be saved." ~Matthew 10:22

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

How many of the world's prayers have gone unanswered because those who
prayed did not endure to the end? Sometimes we feel like it's too late,
that we need to act for ourselves, that God is not going to guide us. "The
one who endures to the end will be saved." Can I endure to the very end? I
can try to endure with courage. If I endure, God can unlock those secret
spiritual treasures that are missed by those who give up too soon.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may follow God's guidance so that spiritual success shall be
mine. I pray that I may never doubt the power of God and take things into
my own hands.

Have You Tasted My Jesus?

Author Unknown

At the University of Chicago Divinity School each year they have what is called “Baptist Day”. It is a day when all the Baptists in the area are invited to the school because they want the Baptist dollars to keep coming in.

On this day each one is to bring a lunch to be eaten outdoors in a grassy picnic area. Every “Baptist Day” the school would invite one of the greatest minds to lecture in the theological education enter.

One year they invited Dr. Paul Tillich. Dr. Tillich spoke for 2 ½ hours proving that the resurrection of Jesus was false. He quoted scholar after scholar and book after book. He concluded that since there was no such thing as the historical resurrection the religious tradition of the church was groundless, emotional mumbo-jumbo, because it was based on a relationship with a risen Jesus, who in fact, never rose from the dead in any literal sense. He then asked if there were any questions. After about 30 seconds, an old, dark skinned preacher with a head of short-cropped, woolly white hair stood up in the back of the auditorium.

Docta Tillich, I got one question, he said as all eyes turned toward him. He reached into his sack lunch and pulled out an apple and began eating it.

“Docta Tillich (CRUNCH, MUNCH), My question is a simple question (CRUNCH, MUNCH). Now, I ain’t never read them books you read (CRUNCH, MUNCH) and I can’t recite the Scriptures in the original Greek (CRUNCH, MUNCH). I don’t know nothin’ about Niebuhr and Heidegger (CRUNCH, MUNCH)…” He finished the apple.

“All I wanna know is: This apple I just ate, was it bitter or sweet?”

Dr. Tillich paused for a moment and answered in exemplary scholarly fashion: I cannot possibly answer that question, for I haven’t tasted your apple.

The white-haired preacher dropped the core of his apple into his crumpled paper bag, looked up at Dr. Tillich and said calmly, “Neither have you tasted my Jesus.” The 1000 plus in attendance could not contain themselves. The auditorium erupted with applause and cheers.

Dr. Tillich thanked his audience and promptly left the platform.

Have you tasted Jesus? Please pass this on Saints! God has risen, and he’s coming back one day!

Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. If you have, rejoice in the hope of the resurrection that your faith in Him brings. Psalm 34:8

So Little Time

-Unknown Author

So little time to say the things
You’d really like to say -
Before you even find the words,
The time just slips away.

So little time to do the things
You feel that you must do.
So treasure, like the purest gold,
The time God’s given you.

So little time to dream your dreams,
For youth has passed its prime,
And all too soon you realize
That there’s … so little time.

So little time to reach the height
To which you’re bound to climb,
For swiftly pass the waning years,
And there’s … so little time.

So little time to pass regrets,
And less, to make amends,
Yet God can heal the deepest wounds
In chosen, cherished friends.

So little time to share God’s love
And beauty here on earth,
And know, before His endless time,
Their meaning and true worth.

Oh, yes, there is so little time
To seek the hidden door
That opens up to heaven’s time,
Where time’s forevermore.

February 22

You need Me every moment. Your awareness of your constant need for Me is your greatest strength. Your neediness, properly handled, is a link to My Presence. However, there are pitfalls that you must be on guard against: self-pity, self-preoccupation, giving up. Your inadequacy presents you with a continual choice—deep dependence on Me, or despair. The emptiness you feel within will be filled either with problems or with My Presence. Make Me central in your consciousness by praying continually: simple, short prayers flowing out of the present moment. Use My Name liberally, to remind you of My Presence. Keep on asking and you will receive, so that your gladness may be full and complete.

Pray continually.
—1 Thessalonians 5:17

Up to this time you have not asked a [single] thing in My Name [as presenting all that I am]; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.
—John 16:24 – From Jesus Calling

Mother Teresa Said...

Whatever you do, even if you help somebody cross the road, you do it to Jesus.
Even if you give somebody a glass of water, you do it to Jesus.
Such a simple little teaching, but it is so important!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Good Morning Everyone! It's back to freezing again after a high of 45 yesterday. I went to my early mass, and after a quick stop at the market was home for the day. I made pierogies for supper, and for some reason they really tired me out this time. DH and DS really love them, so its' worth the work.

We're back to the VA again this morning, and I think I finally get to meet DH's doctor. They wanted him to try other meds for cholesterol, and I think he just wants me there to back him up when he turns them down. He's had too many side affects in the past to take a chance with those drugs again.

Gloria, Glad you had a nice time at the auction. Hope you'll get a warm up soon, and also hear from Lori.

Harlene, Good luck today!

Bobbiesue, It sounds like you had a good weekend. I hope your week ahead is just as nice.

Happy Monday! Hugs, pinky

Hi everyone, I'm back from the hospital, and everything went well. They didn't find anything, no bleeding. The doctor said when I go to my doctor again in May and takes another blood test my doctor will send the report, he said sometimes the counts change and go up and down. Right now I am going to take a nap because I didn't get any sleep last night. God bless all of you and thank you for all your prayers. Harlene(lovestopaint)

Pinky - it's good you got to meet his doctor. Two heads are better than one, I go with LInus too when there's some serious issue, like his vertigo, etc. and that's good. Lo and Behold it's up to 18 above!! Wow! What is that you made for supper? Never heard of it but sounds good.

Harlene - what good news!!!! Praise be Jesus!!! Thanks for telling us, we were concerned for sure and you had our prayers.

Bobbiesue - I can't wait for spring either. My plants are waiting to be out in the patio, they love it there! This morning when we got up it was 14 below.

Angela - what a nice surprise to see you here! How are you and your family, dear? Do come back, you hear? Wish I had your email so I could send you an email, and pictures of my daughter in Guatemala. She comes home Friday!
