Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello my friends! Nice day here today - didn't get the snow that was predicted, there was 70% chance of snow. We first were going to go to Deil's, but being Linus was too tired to go because of all the goings on here this past weekend, etc. I called Deil and said another time. That was blessing we didn't, because the new oil change went wrong, they did it wrong, and oil leaked all out in the garage, good thing that didn't happen at Deil's. Now he has to get that replaced. Lori is in Guatemala now since this morning. She can't communicate yet until she finds some place with Wi-Fi and through Facebook. Sure will be nice to see pictures from there she'll be posting. Darla and Greg are in the air right now going back to Texas. I guess stress does this, but I haven't had about with bladder infection since October, and today, here it is! Taking care of it so it goes away fast. Today was a restful day. Wonderful homily this morning by Father Mark. Someday I might tell you about it.

There is almost no work in life as hard as waiting. And yet many times we
have to wait. All motion is more easy than calm waiting, and yet sometimes
I must wait until I am shown God's will. So many people have marred their
work and hindered the growth of their spiritual lives by too much activity.
If I wait patiently, preparing myself always, I can be some day at the place
where God would have me be. And much toil and activity could not have
accomplished the journey so soon.

Christian Blessings: A to Z

Realizing that we often fail to appreciate our blessings, I decided to go through the alphabet and identify some blessings available to everyone.

A—Adam
God made Adam in His image. Adam was the first human and from him we were all descended.
B—Beauty
There is beauty surrounding us in nature in everything from the tiniest grain of sand to the vast expanse of the sky.
C—Comfort
The Lord is always there with comfort for those who call upon His name.
D—Destiny
Regardless of your situation in life you can partake in God’s manifest destiny for mankind—eternity in His presence.
E—Earth
The planet on which God places us came pre-stocked with everything needed to sustain human life.
F—Faith
We can all have faith in our Father and that faith can sustain us through good times and bad.
G—Genes
Those marvelous building blocks were used by God to create us in His image.
H—Hope
There is never a situation in life that is so dark that a glimmer of hope is not present.
I—Intimacy
All humans can have an intimate personal relationship with God. We need have no intermediary between Him and us.
J—Jesus
God sent his only begotten son to offer salvation and everlasting life to us all.
K—Kindred
By virtue of our humanity, we share a kinship with every other human on earth and through Jesus Christ we can all become Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

P—Prayer
Prayer is communication with our Father in heaven—a direct “telephone” line to Him that requires no service contract.
Q—Quench
We are able to come to Jesus who can quench our thirst forever. (

R—Richness
Whether we are rich and poor in material things, we all have an equal opportunity for Richness of spirit.
S—Salvation.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Salvation is available to all.
T—Trust
We have one blessing upon which we can always depend, our trust in the Lord.
U—Understanding
Though other people may not understand us, God always does.
V—Victory
If we obey His commandments we are all promised victory through Jesus.
W—Wash
No matter what we may have done, we can all be washed spotless in the blood of Christ.
X
An “X” is sometimes used to “mark the spot”. God has an X upon every one of us, knowing even the very hairs on our heads. He knows exactly where we are and He is with us always.
Y—Yield
As we sow, so shall we yield. This gives us a sure and certain knowledge of how the way we live affects our future.
Z
This letter, the last of the alphabet, assures us that God, the alpha and the omega—the beginning and the end—will be there to meet us when earthly life is over.

Pains of Love

Read this to the end. It will lift you.

Some years ago, on a hot summer day in south Florida, a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole that was behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out through the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went.

He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator
was swimming toward the shore.

In the house, his mother was looking out through the window. She saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, she ran toward the water, yelling to her son as loudly as she could.

Hearing her voice, the little boy became alarmed, and made a U-turn to swim to his mother. It was too late. Just as he reached her, the alligator reached him. >From the dock, the mother grabbed her little boy by the arms, just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began a very incredible tug-of-war between the two.

The alligator was much stronger than the mother, but the mother was much too passionate to let go.

A farmer happened to drive by, heard her screams, raced from his truck, took aim, and shot the alligator. Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy SURVIVED. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. On his arms, there were deep scratches where his mother's fingernails dug into his flesh; in her effort to hang on to the son she loved.

The newspaper reporter, who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked the boy if he would show him his scars.

The boy lifted his pant legs. Then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter, "But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my Mom wouldn't let go."

You and I can identify with that little boy.

We have scars, too. No, not from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly, and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds, my friend, are because God has refused to let go. In the midst of your struggle, He's been right there, holding on to you.

The Scripture teaches that God loves you.

You are a child of God. He wants to protect you, and provide for you in every way. But, sometimes, we foolishly wade into dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead. The swimming hole of life is filled with peril and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack. That is when the tug-of-war begins.

If you have the scars of His love on your arms, be very, very grateful. He will not ever let you go.

Please pass this on to those you love. God has blessed you, so that you can be a blessing to others. You just never know where a person is in his/her life, and what they are going through.

Never judge other persons scars, because you don't know how they got them.

Come to Me with all your weaknesses: physical, emotional, and spiritual. Rest in the comfort of My Presence, remembering that nothing is impossible with Me.

Pry your mind away from your problems so you can focus your attention on Me. Recall that I am able to do immeasurably more than all you ask or imagine. Instead of trying to direct Me to do this and that, seek to attune yourself to what I am already doing.

When anxiety attempts to wedge its way into your thoughts, remind yourself that I am your Shepherd. The bottom line is that I am taking care of you; therefore, you needn’t be afraid of anything. Harlene - looks like our weather is even better than PA now. The snow again missed us!! I bet you are doing so great on your Nutri-System that you could advertise it now and get money!!! Good luck all the way.

Pinky - hope you're feeling better now. Glad you got to Mass, that's all we did today for going out. But that's the most important thing to do!

Bobbiesue - We are doing fine - except that I'll be missing Lori these two weeks - can't even call her, just have to wait to hear from her on Facebook. At least we can keep in contact with Darla.

This is funny, well it really isn't that funny, we are supposed to get snow tonight into tomorrow. Well our local weather people in Philly will only say we are going to get "inches".

I guess they don't want to say how many anymore because they were wrong so many times. This morning the lady on our local Fox station said you are going to get inches and then when she came on later she sais we are going to get plow able inches. WHAT!!!! It is still bitter cold here I can't ever remember it being so cold. God bless you people in Minnesota.

Blessings to all stay safe and warm, and I hope you don't get many plow able inches.

Good Morning Everyone, It's beautiful outside, but so cold. It's -2 now, up a few degrees from when I checked earlier. I feel better today, and I think yesterday I was feeling a bit sick because I was a little worked up. I didn't want to miss mass, but knew it was not smart to go out considering what our area is like with all the drifting and wind.

Bobbie Sue, I'm glad you had no problem with the car starting yesterday, and hope you won't have to be out too much until it warms up a little. We had to replace DH's battery last week as it was too unpredictable in this weather. The new one is fine so far.

Harlene, The forecast here is calling for only a few inches, and I want them to be right! lol Stay warm my friend! Hope you can stay inside too and avoid some of this brutal cold.

Gloria, I'm glad the girls arrived safely. Hope you'll get over this infection soon. Do you have antibiotics yet? The thread is especially good today, a lot of it is speaking to me. Thank you so much for all of your work every day getting it put on here.

Hi All! As I knew it, my holistic meds did it and I'm over the infection now. I don't have any antibiotics left over, but if it comes back again and bothers me I'll go to the doctor and get some more. So far so good.

Weather predictions are never very accurate for us - once in a while, not often.
