Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Not one day passes without receiving wonderful blessings from our loving
and generous God. Lord, may I forget the irritations that distract me from
Your happiness.

Scripture for the day:

"Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near."
~Isaiah 55:6

Meditation for the day:

God finds, amid the crowd, a few people who follow, just to be near God,
just to dwell in God's presence. A longing in the eternal heart may be
satisfied by these few people. I can let God know that I seek not just to
dwell in God's presence, to be near God, not so much for teaching or a
message, as just for God. It can be that the longing of the human heart to
be loved for itself is something caught from the great divine heart.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may have a listening ear, so that God may speak to me. I pray
that I may have a waiting heart, so that God may come to me.

Hello my friends! It was a nice Sunday! After Mass we were pleased and surprised to find Lori here cooking us breakfast – wonderful blessing!! She does this once in a while and it’s so much fun when she does. Her birthday is the 24th, so we were talking about her birthday too. Wasn’t on the phone for the last two days, and it was quiet! So nice and peaceful, and we both got a nap in this afternoon. For supper I made stir fries with the left over chicken from last night, but all the veggies were fresh. It was very good and have some left over for tomorrow lunch. We played some cards this afternoon – Canasta and I beat him!!! We’ll play some more tonight. Wishing you all a very blessed Monday – and remember I’m praying for all of your needs daily! Thanks so much for your prayers as well. All prayer is heard and answered according to God’s will. All we need to do is ask Him in prayer.

Spread the Peace

Peace is accepting the differences of others.

Peace is understanding another's sorrow.

Peace is sharing in another's trials.

Peace is lending a hand to a stranger
in need without being asked.

Second Christ

Every Christian who is a true imitator
and follower of the fair Nazarene
can and must call himself a second Christ
and show forth most clearly in his life
the entire image of Christ.

belongs to him,
and disturb not

Suffering because we are Christians may tempt us to forsake our faith.
Memory of past experiences can give us courage to face present persecution.
Christian endurance is never complete until our Master returns. We can trust
Him. His reward justifies all the suffering we must endure.
Read Hebrews 10:32-39.

You Are...

You are strong...when you take your grief and teach it to smile.
You are brave...when you overcome your fear and help others to do the same.
You are happy...when you see a flower and are thankful for the blessing.
You are loving...when your own pain does not blind you to the pain of
others.
You are wise...when you know the limits of your wisdom.
You are true...when you admit there are times you fool yourself.
You are alive...when tomorrow's hope means more to you than yesterday's
mistake.
You are growing...when you know what you are but not what you will become.
You are free...when you are in control of yourself and do not wish to
control others.
You are honorable...when you find your honor is to honor others.
You are generous...when you can take as sweetly as you can give.
You are humble...when you do not know how humble you are.
You are thoughtful...when you see me just as I am and treat me just as you
are.
You are merciful...when you forgive in others the faults you condemn in
yourself.
You are beautiful...when you don't need a mirror to tell you.
You are rich...when you never need more than what you have.
You are you...when you are at peace with who you are not.

The young man had lost his job and didn't know which way to turn. So he went
to see the old preacher. Pacing about the preacher's study, the young man
ranted about his problem. Finally he clenched his fist and shouted, "I've
begged God to say something to help me. Tell me, Preacher, why doesn't God
answer?"

The old preacher, who sat across the room, spoke something in reply --
something so hushed it was indistinguishable. The young man stepped across
the room. "What did you say?" he asked.

The preacher repeated himself, but again in a tone as soft as a whisper. So
the young man moved closer until he was leaning on the preacher's chair.

"Sorry," he said. "I still didn't hear you."

With their heads bent together, the old preacher spoke once more. "God
sometimes whispers," he said, "so we will move closer to hear Him."

This time the young man heard and he understood.

We all want God's voice to thunder through the air with the answer to our
problem. But God's is the still, small voice . . . the gentle whisper.
Perhaps there's a reason. Nothing draws human focus quite like a whisper.
God's whisper means I must stop my ranting and move close to Him, until my
head is bent together with His. And then, as I listen, I will find my
answer. Better still, I find myself closer to God.

Your Work Today
Is anyone happier because you passed this way?

Does anyone remember that you spoke to him today?

Can you say tonight, in parting with the day that is slipping fast,

That you helped a single person of the many that you passed ?

Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said?

Does the man whose hopes were fading, now in courage look ahead?

Did you leave a trail of kindness or a scar of discontent?

As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say,

You have earned one more tomorrow by the work you did today.
