Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello my friends! Today's blessings were good weather, good roads, all the way to Glencoe, MN to see Deil after Mass, and all the way home. What a blessing she is! She made chicken chow mein for us - wonderful!! Lots of it so she can freeze in her portions. She uses pineapple tidbits in hers, never heard of that before, will use that from now on. Sorry about all the snow, Bobbiesue! Glad it's not here. But winter isn't over yet. There was more snow in Glencoe than we have, we can see the grass!! Not like last January. Glad we went - Linus fixed her shower drain, and now she won't have to shower standing in water. Her corn seems to be getting better now, Praise God! Hopefully it can be fixed now. She has a doctor's appt. on Wednesday - hope it goes well about her poor toe. Her friend Monica, had that hearing surgery and it went well, and she has a follow up on Wednesday, please pray it all goes well for her. She is finding out it's much noisier at work now!

Prayer helps us see that God is not the cause of unpleasant happenings, but
the healing of them. Lord, I trust in You for the right outcomes in all situations.

Scripture for the day:

"My vows to you I must perform, O God; I will render thank offerings to you.
For you have delivered my soul from death, and my feet from falling, so that
I may walk before God in the light of life." ~Psalm 56:12-13

Meditation for the day:

I will never forget to say thank you to God, even on the grayest days. My
attitude can be one of humility and gratitude. Saying thank you to God is a
daily practice that is absolutely necessary. If a day is not one of
thankfulness, the practice has to be repeated until it becomes so. Gratitude
is a necessity for those who seek to live a better life.
Prayer for the day:

I pray that gratitude will bring humility. I pray that humility will bring
me to live a better life.
THINK OF JESUS

Think of JESUS
there beside you,
like a friend
who is glad to know you-
Feel the comfort
of HIS presence
and the kindness.
Think of JESUS
warmly smiling,
telling stories,
sharing laughter,
Bringing joy
that lights the moment,
peacefulness
that lingers after...
Think of JESUS
speaking gently
with a glow
of love about HIM,
And you will feel
the calm assurance
that you will never
be without HIM.

THE STORY OF SOUL
Author Unknown

There once was a man named Soul who was walking in a garden. He was
whistling a real sweet tune for he was saved and had the joy of the
Lord, but he was a baby Christian. As Soul was walking, a beautiful
and seductive woman came out from behind a tree. Soul was very
startled. He said, "Hello, I'm Soul, what is your name?"

She replied, "I am Temptation, I have what you want."

"What do I want?" replied Soul.

"You want to do all things which are of the flesh," said Temptation.

Soul replied, "O.K., lead me."

So he and Temptation went off and fulfilled the desires of the flesh.
When Soul returned to the garden, he met a man named Condemnation.
Condemnation said, "Hey, I see you have met my friend, Temptation."

Soul said, "Yes, who are you?"

"I am Condemnation, I come after Temptation. We work hand-in-hand. "
Then Condemnation jumped on Soul's back and began to beat him. He hit
him in the face and kicked him when he was down. This went on for
several days.

On about the third day, a man named Mercy came running and said, "I
command you, Condemnation, to stop beating Soul."

Condemnation snickered, "Make me."

So Mercy unsheathed his sword and cut Condemnation in two.

As Soul watched in astonished pain, he was overtaken by the power of
Mercy. Mercy walked up to Soul and said, "I have dealt with
Condemnation before. He should not show up around you anymore."

Soul replied, "How can I ever thank you?"

"Well," replied Mercy, "I was sent here by God and He told me to
introduce you to a dear friend of mine. His name is Redemption."

Redemption walked up and said, "Hello Soul, I see that you are not
doing well."

Soul replied, "Not until Mercy came along. It is a pleasure to meet
you Redemption."

"Well", said Redemption," I am glad to meet you. Are you ready to
accept me?"

"What do you mean?" asked Soul.

Redemption said, "Well, when you accepted Jesus and decided to walk
with Him, then you chose to accept the things of Him and His love. I
am a part of Jesus' love. I help you feel forgiven. You will never
have to deal with Condemnation again. Temptation may come around, but
I have someone I would like for you to meet who can help you with
that. His name is Grace."

Grace walked up to Soul and said, "Hello Soul, I have been waiting for
you. As a matter of fact all three of us have been waiting to meet
you.

I will help you take the way out of Temptation that God gives you as
it comes up. The last person we want you to meet is Faith."

"Hi Soul, I am Faith, and I will help you stay strong and keep your
beliefs strong," said Faith.

Soul began to cry. When he began to cry Redemption said, "This is what
we were here for. Jesus redeemed you, saved you by Grace through Faith
and gives you his Mercy. Jesus loves you Soul."

Soul said, "I love you, Jesus."

January 25

Let My Love enfold you in the radiance of My Glory. Sit still in the Light of My Presence, and receive My Peace. These quiet moments with Me transcend time, accomplishing far more than you can imagine. Bring Me the sacrifice of your time, and watch to see how abundantly I bless you and your loved ones.

Through the intimacy of our relationship, you are being transformed from the inside out. As you keep your focus on Me, I form you into the one I desire you to be. Your part is to yield to My creative work in you, neither resisting it nor trying to speed it up. Enjoy the tempo of a God-breathed life by letting Me set the pace. Hold My hand in childlike trust, and the way before you will open up step by step.

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name.
—Hebrews 13:15

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
—2 Corinthians 3:18

Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.
—Psalm 73:23–24 - From Jesus Calling

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness;
come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the Lord he is God;
it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise;
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations.

Psalm 100
Today's readings 1/25/15
Jon.3:1-5, 10; Ps.25:4-9; 1Cor.7:29-31; Mk.1:14-20
The message we hear being proclaimed by both St.Paul and Our Lord really isn't much different from the one God sent Jonah to proclaim to the people of Nineveh. The only difference was there was a clear timeframe attached to Jonah's message, one that conveyed a serious sense of urgency to his listeners, and when we take all of this into consideration in light of our own limited "timeframe" I believe the lesson contained in these readings begins to unfold. Like St.Paul tells us our time in the mortal bodies is slowly but surely "passing away", none of us know when our time will be over and there's nothing we can do to change that reality, and so the urgency behind Jesus' call to "repent" and embrace His Kingdom right now really is "at hand" for each and every one of us. Unfortunately not everyone is aware of that, the people of Nineveh weren't until Jonah came along and neither were the people of Corinth or those simple fishermen Jesus challenged to leave everything behind and "follow Me", and with that being said I believe the challenge we're being issued today becomes very clear. We all know that Jonah and St.Paul have passed away and Jesus has returned to His Father in Heaven, now it's "our time" to not only proclaim the same message they did but to give witness to it's urgency by the way we live our lives. The question we need to ask ourselves is are we ready to answer that challenge or do we need to go through what Jonah and St.Paul did before we do?
God bless you,

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Glad you were able to get to Deil's Gloria. The Chow mein sounds good.

We are supposed to get a lot of snow beginning today into tomorrow, first they said we were going to get 15 to 20 inches, now they are saying we may only get 12"(ONLY 12" LOL!) Who knows we will se when it gets here. That's all we can do. Pinky I hope you and your DH can get out before it comes.

Blessings to all.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

loves.....Thank for stopping by on yesterday's thread (or maybe Saturday's thread) to say hi. I, too, am in the path of the storm. We originally were predicted 24" to 36". But now have downgraded to between 18" to 24". I am sure the forecasters don't even know the exact totals. Stay safe and warm.

gloriajean.....Waving hello. Hope I can stop by the next few days, depending on the predicted power outages.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hi Gloria, Harlene, and shorelady!

We got to DH's appointment with no problems. While he had his appointment, I got to go to the bank, and the D.G. nearby for a few things we needed. The snow amounted to maybe 4 inches at most, and we aren't expected to get much more than that in the second half of this storm. We made better time today in the snow, than other days that are sunny and clear. There was snow on the roads, but lots of areas that were just wet.

I did get ice melt today, thank you Dollar General by the VA! The store near us, won't be getting any more this year, and instead have a huge charcoal briquet display in it's place! Yeah..... Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and glad everything seems to be going well for everyone. Hoping the snow amounts are far, far less than expected for anyone still receiving the white stuff. Please take care if you're driving or clearing snow. Don't get hurt doing too much. Hugs, pinky

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

jubilant - Thanks for your post - do come again!! OK? You're so welcome for the morning devotion.

Harlene - Take care in all that snow! My goodness! I thought we in MN got all the snow, well last year we did!! We had a great big pile in our front lawn, made by the snow blower blowing so often!

shorelady - your weather sounds like MN last year! Take care and don't venture out! Hope you don't lose power. I hope you can stop by again soon. It's always nice to hear from you.

Pinky Ann - Good you were safe on the roads - you're a good driver to drive in 4 inches of snow. You got a lot done today! You sure are a busy gal! We had that big snowstorm early in November, where it was heavy snow, and it took 2 hours for Linus to blow it out of the driveway, That was the last big snow we've had. Little ones, but not big - so far so good! I prayed for a mild winter because last year it was so harsh and so cold.
