Hello my friends! Hope your Sunday was blessed! Mine was - as we were gone most of the day taking Deil back home, When we got there, there was some paperwork for Linus to help Deil with from the Social Worker, to get her to sign and get in the mail. She is eligible for help. On the way there, we stopped at a winery that is right on the way, she's never been there at all, so we stopped and had a glass of wine, and Lori took our picture and put it on Facebook so her sons can see her. They right away commented on her and also her grand-daughter. Facebook is a blessing to us. The boys were along - Sammy and Ollie, so Linus stayed in the car with them and listened to the football game. He wasn't interested in coming in for a glass of wine, and he was driving. His head still swims sometimes - but not when he's occupied, and Lori truly believes it's about chrystals in his ears that need to be balanced and has a good PT she wants him to go to who helped her client, so gave us the name and hope that Dr. Mike will refer him there. Tomorrow will be a very busy day so no time for an adjustment then, maybe Tuesday. I read the last thread, but just didn't know what to say so I won't. I want to keep this positive so here's to another positive thread and my blessings today was a sun shiny day - and seeing Deil so happy, and enjoying her glass of wine, she was so useful yesterday for Lori. Lori needed help in getting her new drapes shortened, and Deil and her worked on them all day, and got them hanging after being pressed before they went to bed! Also she was trying to help her get started on a table runner she wants to do for Darla for Christmas! Deil sewed since she was a child, making doll clothes when our Mom was out in the garden, she said, we lived on the farm. She's the oldest and sure did alot! Deil even made her daughter's Wedding Dress!! What talent! And so yesterday she taught Lori a lot! Lori has a new used portable Viking Sewing Machine that she sewed herself the hems after Deil showed her how to do the pinning, ironing etc. beforehand. Proud of Lori for all she did and has ambitious to do! We're invited for Thanksgiving to Deil's - she just has one family coming of her own. Praying for you all - for all your intentions, big or small! God know what they all are, and He's in charge! May He grant you all your deepest desires. God bless you!
Much time is spent fearing that which isn't really there in the first place.
Lord, help me conquer my fears and overcome my difficulties as they
happen rather than giving up and letting my difficulties overcome me.
Scripture for the day:
"Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes
refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, until the
destroying storms pass by." ~Psalm 57:1
Meditation for the day:
"My soul is restless until it finds its rest in Thee." A river flows
on, until it loses itself in the sea. Our spirits long for rest in
the Spirit of God. We can yearn to realize a peace, a rest, a
satisfaction that we have never found in the world or its pursuits.
Some of us are not conscious of our need, and can shut the doors
of our spirits against the Spirit of God. That makes it difficult for
us to find true peace.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may feel the divine unrest. I pray that my soul may
find its rest in God.
Prayer for Protection (especially from flu)
O Holy Virgin Mary, conceived without sin, I choose thee this day to be the
Lady and Mistress of our home, and I pray thee, in the name of the Most
Precious Blood of Jesus, thy Divine Son, and of thy Immaculate Conception,
to preserve it from fire and lightning, from tempests and thieves, from
cholera, influenza, diphtheria, malaria, and all other contagious and
pestilential diseases.
Bless and protect every member of our family, preserve us from sin, from
sudden and unprovided death, and from all other evils and accidents, in the
name and through the merits of the most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus
Christ. Amen.
A True lesson from a Child
A little tyke I saw today, scuffing along the road, Carrying a sack bigger
than he, Oh, what a heavy load! I stopped and asked the little one, if he
would like a ride, He said, "No thank ya Ma'am" and walked along with pride.
I was so very curious, where this child was going to And what might he be
carrying; I didn't have a clue. I watched him struggle with the sack,
stopping for a while. He looked over at me, with a soft and glowing smile. I
couldn't resist one more try, as I watched him as he trod. I asked him what
was in the sack and he said "Something for God". With a puzzled look I
asked, "You have something for God"? "Where are you taking it"? I asked,
thinking this was odd. His little face beamed with pride, with a look so
very calm. "I'm taking all the troubles and fears away from dad and mom". He
told me that his mom and dad were sad and in despair, But said that God
won't give us more than we can bear. He learned it from the sermon he heard
in church that day To give your troubles to God, for He'll carry you all the
way. He continued on to a country church, eyes filled with love. He then
knelt down upon his knees, looking to the skies above. "God", he said, "I
come to You, and ask You to take this sack". His eyes were looking up above
and his head tilted back. All of a sudden, I heard a voice and saw an image
appear, Then, God spoke to the little lad, and said, "I am here". "Leave the
burdens with Me child, I will carry you through", The little lad said "Thank
you God, I knew I could count on You". I drove home in silence after hearing
God that day, For it took a child to teach me ... all I need do is pray!
God's Hand
Sometimes...
We must be hurt in order to grow;
We must fail in order to know,
We must lose in order to gain.
Some lessons are learned best
Only through pain.
Sometimes...
Our vision clears
Only after our eyes are
Washed with tears.
Sometimes...
We have to be broken,
So we can be tender,
Sick so we can rest and think better;
On things more important
Than work or fun;
Trip near death,
So we can assess how we've run.
Sometimes...
We have to suffer lack,
So we can know God's provision,
Feel another's pain,
So we can have a sense of mission.
So take heart, my friend,
If you don't understand today,
Instead of grumbling,
Ask God what He means to say,
In order to learn you must endure,
And learn to see the bigger picture.
In order to grow, you must stand;
Look beyond the hurt
To God's loving hand
That takes what is good,
And gives what is best,
And on this blessed thought, rest:
As your anxious heart,
With questions, waits,
God's hand only gives
What His loving heart dictates.
Sometimes the Lord calms the storm;
Sometimes He lets the storm rage...
And calms His child.
Better the storm with Christ...
Than smooth waters without Him.
Pass this encouragement on...

THE "CONTROL" ISSUE
By Marion Smith
Job 37:15 Do you know how God controls the clouds and makes His
lightning flash?
I believe each of us likes to be “in control” of our
lives, and we want to know where we are going. This is definitely
true for me, especially if I am going to take a car trip. I always
get the map out, plot out my course and know exactly where I will be
driving.
When I had the opportunity to spend a week end at an
Emmaus retreat, I was excited. “Where is the retreat held?” I asked.
My sponsors were vague, but I wanted details! Where would it be, what
would we do, etc., etc., etc.!!
Well, the night we left for the retreat I just got in the
car and let them drive. I had no idea where I was going, nor had I
mapped a course on a road map. I trusted my sponsors to get me to the
correct destination on time and in good shape. The road was narrow
and the nighttime sky descended upon us, but I no longer cared about
details, because I trusted the driver. TRUST- what an important thing
this is.
Am I willing to turn over the drivers seat of my life to
God? To allow Him to get me to my destination? I know my final
destination is Heaven, but is it necessary for me to know every detail
on the road there? Don’t I trust God enough to know He’ll be right
beside me, no matter the twists on life’s road or how suddenly
darkness can descend?
Sometimes, I try to give God the road map and tell Him the
way! How silly! He is more “in control” than I am! God is the sponsor
of my life, and I need to let Him stay in the driver’s seat, taking me
down life’s road of surprises.
PRAYER FOR THE PRESENT MOMENT
Dear God. I spend so much time reliving yesterday or
anticipating tomorrow that I lose sight of the only time
that is really mine - the present moment. You give me
today one moment at a time. That's all I have - all I ever
will have.
Give the faith which knows that each moment contains
exactly what is best for me. Give the hope which trusts
You enough to forget past failings and future trials.
Give the love which makes each moment an anticipation of
eternity with You. We ask this in the name of Jesus who is
the same yesterday, today and forever. Amen.
Hope For Tomorrow
- Mary Eileen Butera
Enjoy the sun while you have it,
Tomorrow you may face the rain.
Take joy in the present-day pleasures
So that you can handle the pain
That comes to us in are life time
As surely as day becomes night.
Understand we often have good times
That help keep our spirits bright.
So when we have serious problems
And the world seems so very gray,
Remember that things will get better
And there will be a better day.
There is always hope for tomorrow
No matter how deep the pain,
From storms that swirl all around us
Life will surely be brighter again.
"A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance."
Ecclesiastes 3:4
As believers in Jesus Christ, we know that our lives have seasons consisting
of ups and downs. Whether our season is joy, or sadness, each season should
motivate us to seek the Lord and trust Him.
Trust God! He is always leading us. He knows what we need, before we even
get there.
Dear Lord Jesus, help us to turn to You not only in sadness but also in joy.
We know You give us both good times and bad to draw us to You and help us
grow. May we learn to trust You in all seasons of life. In your precious
name, Amen.
GOD IS...
God is Lord Almighty, Omnipotent King, Lion of Judah, Rock of Ages,
Prince of Peace, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Provider, Protector,
Paternal, Leader, ruling Lord and reigning King of all the universe. He is
Father, Helper, Guardian and God.
He is the First and Last, the Beginning and the End. He is the Keeper
of Creation and the Creator of all He keeps. He is the Architect of the
universe and the Manager of all times.
He always was, always is and always will be. He is unmoved, unchanged,
undefeated and never undone. He was bruised and bought healing. He was
pierced and eased pain. He was persecuted and bought freedom. He was dead
and bought life. He is risen and brings power. He reigns and brings peace.
The world can't understand Him; armies can't defeat Him; schools can't
explain Him; and leaders can't ignore Him. Herod couldn't kill Him; the
Pharisees couldn't confuse Him and the people couldn't hold Him! Nero
couldn't crush Him; Hitler couldn't silence Him; New Age can't replace Him
and you can't explain Him away!
He is light, love, longevity, and Lord. He is goodness, kindness,
gentleness and God. He is holy, righteous, mighty, powerful and pure. His
ways are right; His Word is eternal; His will is unchanging and His mind is
on me!
God is in control. I am on His side and all is well with my soul.
INVOCATIONS TO THE HOLY GUARDIAN ANGEL
Holy Angel, my counselor, inspire me; Holy Angel, my defender, protect me;
Holy Angel, my faithful friend; intercede for me;
Holy Angel, my consoler, fortify me; Holy Angel, my brother, defend me;
Holy Angel, my teacher, instruct me;
Holy Angel, witness of all my actions, purify me;
Holy Angel, my helper, support me;
Holy Angel, my intercessor, speak for me;
Holy Angel, my guide, direct me; Holy Angel, my light, enlighten me;
Holy Angel, whom God has assigned to lead me, govern me.
Mother Teresa Said...
The fruit of our work, as well as the ability to carry it out, comes from
prayer. The work that we accomplish is the fruit of our union with Christ.
We have been called to give Jesus to the peoples of the world, so that they
can look at Him and discover His love, His compassion, and His humility in
action.
Meditations by Padre Pio
In family life have strong convictions, smile in the face of self-denial and
in the constant sacrifice of your whole self.

gloriajean so glad you decided to stop at the winery, sounds like fun.
Wishing everyone a blessed day.

Love Roses - Know you are loved, too!!! I am so thankful, too, for every day, for my husband's not having mini strokes, for everything! And looking forward to going to Deil's for Thanksgiving.
Harlene - glad you like the pic - I'll send it to anyone who'll give me their email address. Mine is lgflint@charter.net.
marmot - When I got married I got a new Singer Sewing Machine right away, thinking I'll learn how to sew, well, I didn't, although I sure tried, just couldn't get the hang of it, but I used it alot for mending and hemming like you did. Your DH sounds like what Linus has, and I do think he needs to get those crystals balanced as Lori says. It makes his head feel like swimming - then he goes to Dr. Mike and he adjusts him and he's good to go again but it seems to come back more often now.
RetRN - Yes, it was nice to just stop at the winery for one glass of wine on the way taking her home - she enjoyed it, and so did we, we were just there a few minutes, half hour at the most! It was fun and Lori took a picture of us (Deil and me) there to put on Facebook for her sons to see, and grandchildren that are on there. Wishing you a very blessed day, too!

Gloria, don't fret over the other thread. It's to be expected when dealing with real people and their very real emotions. Some here are trying to deal with some very heavy issues and doing the best they can. Everything can't be positive all the time -- moment by moment -- despite the best of intensions in this hard world. I bet Mother Teresa would vouch for that. Our blessed Lord suffered His weaker moments on earth, too.
Praying for Linus to find lasting relief from the vertigo. Has he had the tests from the neurologist yet? They likely want to rule out more serious things, like mild seizures. Anxiety -- panic attacks can also cause vertigo with other symptoms. I know it is scary... Prayers for your strength!
Hello to all here. May your day be blessed of Jesus. All those enduring pain and suffering, may you feel His love and mercy embracing you.
‎11-17-2014 07:12 PM
Hi Lucy - and Joy! I Promise not to fret about it - there is nothing I can do. I know that things can't always be positive - I just try to make things as positive as I can for everyone. There's so much pain, so many disappointments, only God can over see it all and make all things for good. Isn't that Romans 8? Wednesday morning at 9:00 is his neurology appt. Praying nothing bad shows up! Thanks for prayers for strength!
