If you are over committed, things begin to fall apart. Lord, help me be
reasonable
in the expectations I place on myself so that I can efficiently use my time
and still
have enough time to relax and enjoy the day.
Scripture for the day:
"By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us,
to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to
guide our feet into the way of peace." ~Luke 1:78-79
Meditation for the day:
For straying from the right way there is no cure except to keep so close to
the thought of God that nothing, no other interest, can seriously come
between us and God. Sure of that, we can stay on God's side. Knowing the
way, nothing can prevent our staying in the way and nothing can cause us to
seriously stray from it. God has promised peace if we stay close to God,
but not leisure. We still have to carry on in the world. God has promised
heart-rest and comfort, but not leisure in the ordinary sense. Peace and
comfort bring real inward happiness.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may keep my feet on the way. I pray that I may stay on God's
side.
Greetings to you all! Hope your Sunday went well! The trip was good - nice
weather too. When we picked up Ethel and Deil at Ethel's in Mpls. we had
chili there and a pumpkin dessert, then on to Rochester, MN to the
Motherhouse. She was sitting up in a wheelchair!! That was encouraging, but
she is still in a lot of pain, but in spite of the pain, we had a nice
visit, we were there from 2 to 4:30. Lori wheeled her to a coffee shop
place where they had free coffee and juice and cookies. and we sat there for
most of our visit. Then Sister LaDonna wanted to show us the place so Lori
wheeled her to first floor where her room is, and she has no idea when
she'll be able to go back to her room! I think we may have tired her out,
but she was so happy to see us and she seemed to be getting better the
longer we were there - the pain pills were kicking in! Everyone was so
happy Lori was kind enough to drive us all over there to see her. Lori
says, we're family and she loves us and we should get to see each other.
What a blessing she is and such a bubbling personality! They all love her!
Today I had many blessings - see my sisters, being with Lori, and coming
home Lori was here for a bite to eat and Linus cooked hamburgers on the
grill. Tomorrow I get a massage!
Life is Good and God is always with us! Don't ever forget that!!
Prayer to Our Lady, Health of the Sick
Virgin, most holy, Mother of the Word Incarnate, Treasurer of graces, and
Refuge of sinners, I fly top your motherly affection with lively faith, and
I beg of you the grace ever to do the will of God.
Into your most holy hands I commit the keeping of my heart, asking you for
health of soul and body, in the certain hope that you, my most loving
Mother, will hear my prayer.
Into the bosom of your tender mercy, this day, every day of my life, and at
the hour of my death, I commend my soul and body.
To you I entrust all my hopes and consolations, all my trials and miseries,
my life and the end of my life, that all my actions may be ordered and
disposed according to your will and that of your Divine Son. Amen.
Good night and Sweet Dreams - wishing you all a very blessed Monday -
there's lots of blessings out there for you tomorrow. Let us continue to
pray for one another.
"Anyone who exalts himself will be humbled and anyone who humbles himself
will be exalted", said Jesus
Lord, You Have the Message of Eternal life
We are approaching the end of this Liturgical year and our thoughts turn
naturally to the end of all things. This theme will emerge more clearly over
the course of the next few weeks. The end of the world is shrouded in as
much uncertainty as its beginning. What is certain is that the God of its
beginning is the God of its end, too.
PERSONAL PRAYER
God of the living, give us the insight to recognise where you are
challenging us to put into practice what we preach after the example of your
dear Son who loved us not only in his words but in his deeds.
Empower us to take on the attitude of joy which comes from the certainty
that all you have created is in your hands.
May this joy be ever deeper than the ups and downs of our daily life so that
amid the ever changing fortunes of our life here we may remain grounded in
the sure knowledge of your unchanging love for us. Through Jesus Christ, our
Lord. Amen.
Don't let go of hope.
Hope gives you the strength to keep
going when you feel like giving up.
Don't ever quit believing in yourself.
As long as you believe you can,
you will have a reason for trying.
Don't let anyone hold your
happiness in their hands;
hold it in yours, so it will always
be within you reach.
Don't measure success or failure by
material wealth, but by how you feel;
our feelings determine the richness
of our lives.
Don't let bad moments overcome you;
be patient, and they will pass.
Don't hesitate to reach out for help;
we all need it from time to time.
Don't run away from love but towards
love, because it is our deepest joy.
Don't wait for what you want to come to
you; go after it with all that you are,
knowing that life will meet you halfway.
Don't feel like you've lost when plans
and dreams fall short of your hopes.
Anytime you learn something new about
yourself or about life, you have progressed.
Don't do anything that takes away from
your self-respect; feeling good about
yourself is essential to feeling good
about life.
Don't ever forget how to laugh or be
too proud to cry.
It is by doing both that we live
life to its fullest.
IMITATING HIS VOICE
Pastor Mark Thompson of Faribault, Minnesota, suffered terrible knife wounds
from an assailant in his home, in October 1988. One of the many consequences
of his difficult recovery was being forced to miss watching his son Chris
run in the state cross-country championship meet.
Pastor Thompson commissioned his brother Merv to go in his stead. According
to the account in the St. Paul Pioneer Press & Dispatch, Mark told his
brother, “I can’t be there to see Chris run. So I want you there at the
beginning of the race. Holler a lot…. Then at the end, I want you to really
cheer loudly. And I want you to make your voice sound like mine.”
Merv heeded the advice, and Chris ran a strong race, finishing second. Merv,
also a pastor, discerned the theological truth in the story. “That’s what
Jesus wants us to do.” he said. “Make your voice sound like mine.”

The Lord Is Passing By..
The Lord is passing by. .
will you quench
the purifying love?
Will you flee and refuse
to be gold in the crucible?
The Lord is passing by. . .
will you enter
into his Eucharist?
Remember that in his body
he receives your death.
The Lord is passing by. . .
will you dare
to cry out in joy?
Christ is alive, arisen,
who will give him a home?
The Lord is passing by. . .
will you wait
another meeting?
Why delay? Walk with him
on the road of life.
The Lord is passing by...
PRAYER FOR PRIESTS
O Jesus, I pray for Your faithful and fervent priests;
for Your unfaithful and tepid priests; for Your
priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission
fields; for Your tempted priests; for Your lonely and
desolate priests; for Your young priests; for Your
dying priests; for the souls of Your priests in
purgatory. Above all I recommend to You the priests
dearest to me; the priest who baptized me; the priest
who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose
Masses I assisted and who gave me Your Body and Blood
in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and
instructed me; all the priests to whom I am indebted
in any other way.
O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart, and bless
them abundantly in time and in eternity.
Amen.
