Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello my friends!!! On this day 41 years ago I gave birth to our first born, Darla! She came right on the due date! What a blessing it was - she made us a family! We had to wait almost nine years for her to come!!! We already had adoption papers in, but never had to complete it. Lori came 18 months later and those two have always been best friends as well as sisters. Today's blessings also was and still is a beautiful day today, and I picked more raspberries and beans. Not many, but still got some. I've been texting my daughters, one in Texas and Lori in New Orleans having fun with friends. Here while there, she sees a friend of hers walking on the sidewalk there, and right away they spend the day together, and she gave Lori and her friends tickets to see Justin Timberlake's concert tonight where they are right now. I never heard of him, so I looked him up! Her friend she saw there she met in Massage School so that's a long time ago! She lives in California. Praying for you all for all your needs - and Juanita's co-worker, Wanda, too for healing.

No great or good work is ever accomplished without patient preparation.

Lord, when my work is not going as I planned, remind me to be grateful

that I am being trained for greater achievement.

Scripture for the day:

"He has told you, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to

act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God." ~Micah 6:8

Meditation for the day:

"Walk humbly with your God." Walking with God means practicing the presence

of God in our daily affairs. It means asking God for the strength to face

each new day. It means turning to God often during the day in prayer for

ourselves and for other people. It means thanking God at night for the

blessings we have received during the day. Nothing can seriously upset us

if we are "walking with God." We can believe that God is beside us in

spirit, to help us and to guide us on our way.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may try to walk humbly with God. I pray that I may turn to

God often, as to a close friend.

Power of the Holy Name of Jesus

The name of Jesus is the shortest, the easiest, and the most powerful of

prayers. Everyone can say it, even in the midst of daily work. Our Lord

Himself has solemnly promised that whatever we ask the Father in His Name we

shall receive (provided, of course, that it be for His Glory and the good of

our soul).

Each time we pronounce the holy Name of Jesus with reverence and love, and

with proper intention, we give great glory to God and obtain for ourselves

priceless graces.

Each time we say Jesus, we may, in desire:

Make an act of perfect love, offering to God all the infinite love of His

Divine Son as if it were our own.

Offer the Passion and Death of Our Lord to the Eternal Father for His

greater glory and our own intentions.

Offer to God all the infinite merits and perfections of Jesus.

Offer all the Holy Masses said each day throughout the world, for the glory

of God and the good of our own and others' souls.

Each time we say Jesus, we increase in our souls the virtues of faith, hope

and charity. Our faith becomes more lively, our confidence in God greater,

and our love more intense.

The Holy Name of Jesus saves us from innumerable evils and dangers, helps us

to overcome temptations, and delivers us from the power of the devil, who is

constantly seeking to do us harm.

The Holy Name of Jesus fills our souls with peace and joy, and gives us

strength to bear our trials and sufferings with patience and resignation.

Each time we say Jesus, we can gain a partial indulgence which we may apply

to the souls in purgatory, thus relieving and liberating many of them from

their awful pains, and gaining for ourselves friends who will pray for us

with incredible fervor.

We ought, therefore, to try to acquire the habit of saying Jesus, Jesus,

Jesus, very often every day, with fervent love and devotion - when dressing,

when working - no matter what we are doing, in moments of sadness and in

moments of joy, at home, in company, on the street, when walking, riding or

waiting. We can say it countless times every day, and thus gain untold

graces and blessings for ourselves and for the whole world. Nothing is

easier, if only we do it with all our heart.

INVOCATION

O admirable Name of Jesus! Name most holy! to men most amiable! Name above

every name. No other name is given under heaven in which we can be saved.

Jesus, honey in our mouth, melody to our ears, sweet jubilee to our hearts!

O Jesus! You are our life, You are our salvation, You are our glory, to You

be praise forever and ever. Amen

WORRY.

Is there a magic cut-off period when

offspring become accountable for their own

actions? Is there a wonderful moment when

parents can become detached spectators in

the lives of their children and shrug, 'It's

their life,' and feel nothing?

When I was in my twenties , I stood in a hospital

corridor waiting for doctors to put a few

stitches in my daughter's head. I asked, 'When do

you stop worrying?' The nurse said,

'When they get out of the accident stage.' My

Dad just smiled faintly and said nothing.

When I was in my thirties , I sat on a little

chair in a classroom and heard how one of my

children talked incessantly, disrupted the class,

and was headed for a career making

license plates. As if to read my mind, a teacher

said, 'Don't worry, they all go through

this stage and then you can sit back, relax and

enjoy them.' My dad just smiled

faintly and said nothing.

When I was in my forties , I spent a lifetime

waiting for the phone to ring, the cars to come

home, the front door to open.. A friend said,

'They're trying to find themselves. Don't worry,

in a few years, you can stop worrying. They'll be

adults.' My dad just smiled faintly

and said nothing.

By the time I was 50 , I was sick & tired of being

vulnerable. I was still worrying over my

children, but there was a new wrinkle. There

was nothing I could do about it. My

Dad just smiled faintly and said nothing. I

continued to anguish over their failures, be

tormented by their frustrations and absorbed in

their disappointments.

My friends said that when my kids got married I

could stop worrying and lead my own

life.. I wanted to believe that, but I was

haunted by my dad's warm smile and his

occasional, 'You look pale. Are you all right?

call me the minute you get home . Are

you depressed about something?'

Can it be that parents are sentenced to a

lifetime of worry? Is concern for one another

handed down like a torch to blaze the trail of

human frailties and the fears of the

unknown? Is concern a curse or is it a virtue

that elevates us to the highest form of life?

One of my children became quite irritable

recently, saying to me, 'Where were you? I've been

calling for 3 days, and no one answered I was worried.'

I smiled a warm smile.

The torch has been passed.

PASS IT ON TO WONDERFUL PARENTS

(And also to your children. That's the fun part)

DEVELOP THE RIGHT (SELF) ATTITUDE

Here are 10 suggestions to help you develop and maintain a healthy

self-image. Read them slowly. Meditate on them regularly.

1. Hate your sin, but never hate yourself.

2. Be quick to repent.

3. When God gives you light, walk in it.

4. Stop saying negative things about yourself. God loves you and it's wrong

to hate what He loves. He has great plans for you, so you're in conflict

with Him when you speak negatively concerning your future.

5. Never be afraid to admit that you've made a mistake and don't always

assume that when things go wrong, it must be 'my fault'.

6. Don't meditate excessively on what you've done, right or wrong; both of

these activities keep your mind on you! Center your thoughts on Christ.

7. Take good care of yourself physically. Make the best of what God gave you

to work with, but don't be obsessed with your appearance.

8. Never stop learning but don't allow your education to become a point of

pride. God doesn't use you because of what's in your head: He uses you

because of what's in your heart.

9. Realize that your talents are a gift, not something you have manufactured

yourself; never look down on people who can't do what you do.

10. Don't despise your weaknesses they keep you dependent on God.

Plant Some Eternal Seeds Today

INFLUENCE OF SMALL THINGS-

Drop a pebble in the water, just a splash and it is gone,

But there's half a hundred ripples, circling on and on and on -

Spreading, spreading, from the center, flowing on out to the sea;

And there's no way of telling, where the end is going to be.

But the little waves are flowing, and the ripples circling yet,

All the ripples flowing, flowing to a mighty wave have grown;

And you've disturbed a mighty river, just by dropping in a stone.

Drop a word, unkind or careless, in a minute it is gone,

But there's half a hundred ripples circling on, and on, and on.

They keep spreading, spreading, spreading, from the center as they go,

And there's no way to stop them, once you've started them to flow.

Drop a word, unkind and careless, in a minute you forgot,

But the little waves are flowing, and the ripples flowing yet.

And perhaps in some sad heart, a mighty wave of tears you've stirred,

And disturbed a life that's happy, when you've dropped an unkind word.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness, just a flash and it is gone,

But there's half a hundred ripples circling on and on and on,

Bearing hope and joy and comfort on each splashing, dashing wave,

Until you wouldn't believe the volume of the one kind word you gave.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness, in a minute you forget, but the

gladness still is swelling, and the joy is circling yet.

And you've rolled a wave of comfort, whose sweet music can be heard,

Over the miles and miles of water, just by dropping one kind word.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Good morning!

Happy Birthday to Darla!

Gloria, we are the same. I thought I couldn't have children so we began the foster process. Lo and behold, after 9 years I became pregnant with our daughter. 5 years later, our son. We are blessed!

Hey, Cakers. Hope your day is going well.

Thoughts and prayers to all. Peace and blessings.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello girlfriends...I hope everyone is having a great day! Gloria, Lucy we both have similar stories. My dear husband and I found out we were going to have our first baby on our 10th wedding anniversary! Waiting on the Lord to answer our prayers taught us to be patient in our faith. I was also three months pregnant on her first birthday! they were very close in age and were and still are very close friends and sisters all these years. What a blessing our children can be.

My precious grandbaby was in the hospital last week...couldn't breathe!!! But they fixed him up in no time and he was his normal self in no time. I am so thankful for our modern medical world. (Gloria, I sent you a picture of the baby in the hospital...did you open that email from me? If not, I will send it again to your email...let me know.)

Happy B'Day to Darla! Love and Hugs to all who post here. Have a super wonderful day and rejoice in our many blessings and joys. I love you all!

Also...Happy Anniversary- Gloria...what is the exact day? when is your party?

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Harlene...thank you so much for holding up my grandbaby in your prayers for his eyesight. He is growing up so beautifully. He is healthy and happy and smart as a tack. He loves his toys and books and has a laugh that lights up the room with joy.

We still do not know if he is or will be blind as we have been told. They just tell us to wait and see how he does as he grows older. In my opinion, he can see. He looks at you when you talk to him, he throws his toys and crawls to go get them. He has favorite books. He is growing and has a wonderfully playful personality. He is a loved and a happy baby boy. At 8 months old he is right on task developmentally. So we are blessed. And so appreciative of all the love and support we have received. Hugs to you!

Cakers1...Hugs to you dear friend. Hope you have a fun day today!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Cakers - I sent that beautiful Happy Birthday picture to Darla and said it came from you - she says "Thank you!" She had a good day yesterday.

Lucy, Interesting that it took you that long too! And go2girl too! I'm not the only one!

Harlene - I hope nothing gets messed up either - haven't noticed that yet.

go2girl - What a blessing our children are - especially after a long wait like we had. I never got the picture, would you please re-send? Never got the email at all. Our Anniversary is the 29th, but we're celebrating it here at our place on Sunday, the 31st - Darla and Greg are flying home for it as it's Labor day weekend and they have Monday off. Glad to hear the good news about the baby.

Bobbiesue - blessings to you too!!!
