Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends! Another cool day today - Lori got her garden fertilized and tilled - by Linus and his brother, Ron! Now she's ready to plant. We did have frost advisories for last night, I didn't cover our little lettuce we have planted, but it didn't freeze anyway. That was great! I"m glad that Harlene got her signature down right now - that was really funny!! Made me laugh! It's been nice that Linus has 3 days off in a row - he's been cleaning fans, and now he's working on cleaning a small fan that he has going when he grills - it sure gets dirty! Do any of you like to grill? That's almost how we do our meats all the time, even turkey! He loves doing it, and I'm so glad he does. We have a gas grill hooked up to our Natural gas, and so in the patio he grills all year long - opens the window -gets the little fan going - works great!! Here's wishing all of you answers to all your prayers! God hears them, and He will answer in His timing. Just never give up!

Keep your feet firmly planted in your faith and your eyes raised to the

heavens.

Lord, You are my strength, my encouragement and my source of all that is

good.

Scripture for the day:

"Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever

welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me." ~Mark 9:37

Meditation for the day:

I can strive for a friendliness and helpfulness that can affect all who come

near me. I can try to see something to love in them. I can welcome them,

bestow little courtesies and understandings on them, and help them if they

ask for help. I need not send anybody away without a word of cheer, a

feeling that I really care about them. God may have put the impulse in some

despairing one's mind to come to me. I need not fail God by repulsing that

person. They may not want to communicate with me unless they are sure of a

warm welcome.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may warmly welcome all who come to me for help. I pray that I

may make them feel that I really care.

Prayers at the Hour of Mercy

(3 p.m.)

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls and the

ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable

Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out Upon us. (1319)

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of

Mercy for us, I trust in You. (187)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You Yourself, Jesus, surely out of love for us, underwent such a terrible

Passion. Your Father's justice would have been propitiated with a single

sigh from You, and all Your selfabasement is solely the work of Your mercy

and Your inconceivable love ... At the end of Your death on the Cross, You

bestowed upon us eternal life; allowing Your most holy side to be opened,

You opened an inexhaustible spring of mercy for us, giving us Your dearest

possession, the Blood and Water from Your Heart. Such is the omnipotence of

Your mercy. From it all grace flows to us. (1747)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

O Jesus, eternal Truth, our Life, I call upon You and beg Your mercy for

poor sinners. O sweetest Heart of my Lord, full of pity and unfathomable

mercy, I plead with you for poor sinners. O Most Sacred Heart, Fount of

Mercy from which gush forth rays of inconceivable graces upon the entire

human race, I beg of You light for poor sinners. O Jesus, be mindful of Your

own bitter Passion and do not permit the loss of souls redeemed at so dear a

price of Your most precious Blood.

O Jesus, when I consider the great price of Your Blood, I rejoice at its

immensity, for one drop alone would have been enough for the salvation of

all sinners. (...) Oh, what immense joy burns in my heart when I contemplate

Your incomprehensible goodness, O Jesus! I desire to bring all sinners to

Your feet that they may glorify Your mercy throughout endless ages. (72)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

O Jesus, stretched out upon the cross, I implore You, give me the grace of

doing faithfully the most holy will of Your Father, in all things,

always.and everywhere. And when this will of God will seem to me very harsh

and difficult to fulfill, it is then I beg You, Jesus, may power and

strength flow upon me from your wounds, and may my lips keep repeating,

"Your will be done, O Lord".

O Savior of the world, Lover of man's salvation, who in such terrible

torment and pain, forgot Yourself to think only of the salvation of souls, O

most compassionate Jesus, grant ine the grace to forget myself that I may

live totally for souls, helping You in the work of salvation, according to

the most holy will of Your Father. (1265)

Best Time of My Life

It was June 15, and in two days I would be turning thirty. I was insecure

about entering a new decade of my life and feared that my best years were

now behind me.

My daily routine included going to the gym for a workout before going to

work. Every morning I would see my friend Nicholas at the gym. He was

seventy-nine years old and in terrific shape. As I greeted Nicholas on this

particular day, he noticed I wasn't full of my usual vitality and asked if

there was anything wrong. I told him I was feeling anxious about turning

thirty. I wondered how I would look back on my life once I reached Nicholas'

age, so I asked him, "What was the best time of your life?"

Without hesitation, Nicholas replied, "Well, Joe, this is my philosophical

answer to your philosophical question:

"When I was a child in Austria and everything was taken care of for me and I

was nurtured by my parents, that was the best time of my life."

"When I was going to school and learning the things I know today, that was

the best time of my life."

"When I got my first job and had responsibilities and got paid for my

efforts, that was the best time of my life."

"When I met my wife and fell in love, that was the best time of my life."

"The Second World War came, and my wife and I had to flee Austria to save

our lives. When we were together and safe on a ship bound for North America,

that was the best time of my life."

"When we came to Canada and started a family, that was the best time of my

life."

"When I was a young father, watching my children grow up, that was the best

time of my life."

"And now, Joe, I am seventy-nine years old. I have my health, I feel good

and I am in love with my wife just as I was when we first met. This is the

best time of my life."

A Prayer to Our Lady in Time of Trouble

Holy Virgin Mary, you are reigning in glory, with Jesus, your Son.

Remember us in our sadness. Look kindly on all who are suffering

or fighting against any difficulty.

Have pity on those who are separated from someone they love.

Have pity on the loneliness of our hearts.

Have pity on the weakness of our faith and love.

Have pity on those who are weeping, on those who are praying, on those who

are fearful.

Holy Mother, please obtain for all of us hope and peace with justice.

Amen.

Mother Teresa Said...

We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the

ungrateful.

We have done so much, for so long, with so little,

we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.

Meditations by Padre Pio

What tongue could worthily describe Mary’s triumphant entry into heaven? If

the triumphs prepared hear below arouse admiration and great enthusiasm that

they attract many people to contemplate them, what can be said of the

triumphant prepared by God Himself for his mother?

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hey Gloria, I'm glad the thing got it right. I noticed when I was putting my signature in yesterday at the bottom they had lovestopaint that they got from one of my other postings, but right next to it they had overdosing and some other words other words I guess that you could choose from. I must have hit overdosing in stead of lovestopaint. Well as I said me and technology don't get along so well. LOL!

Counting my Blessings.

Harlene: lol at your last sentence!

Gloriajean: We don't grill we are not set up here to do that. DS just got a new grill so we will probably start it up over Memorial Day. Boy, Linus is just a tornado doing so much! Glad he is feeling good to do all that!

GS should be here tonight and then we are off to see Spiderman tomorrow. Actually it will be DH and GS going - I can't sit for long at the movies because of my hip.

{{{shorelady}}} Thinking of you.

{{{go2girl}}} Hoping to hear from you soon when you can.

serenity: Are you over the food poisoning?

Felicia: Hope your spirits are lifted and you are doing better.

bobbiesue: Take care of yourself and sending you a blessing for your eyes and your COPD.

Sending out positive energy to all - have a beautiful day.

Harlene - that is funny!!! Glad it works now for you!! I'm not good at technology either!

Cakers - LInus is a busy guy - he doesn't really like to just sit around and do nothing, except after a day of work and he's exhausted. Like today he might - he works 7 hours selling applicances then off her goes grocery shopping for a few things and home for supper.

Wishing you all a wonderful and blessed day!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hi Gloria and friends. I am continuing to pray for everyone's intentions. Hope Gloria that you hear something soon about Darla.

Cakers, I am over the food poisoning but on Monday, I had to go to the ER because of a high fever and chills. It turns out I have a kidney infection and am being treated with Bactrim. When it rains it pours it seems... Thanks for asking and hope that your hip feels better. You are so blessed, though, to be able to visit with your grandson.{#emotions_dlg.wub} Enjoy!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Good afternoon!

It is such a beautiful day here today. I should be outside planting the flowers I bought a couple of days ago and painting a bench I've been wanting to paint. What am I doing instead? Nothing!!! I had plans to go shopping and out for lunch but what am I doing instead? Nothing!!! lol Sometimes our plans change and that can be a good thing. It just wasn't meant for me to do what I had planned. I can think of many other things I should be doing, makes my head swim just thinking about it. lol

I pray that you are blessed with all good things. Those that are ill, I pray for your health and well being. Our minds get filled with worry for our loved ones, it is hard not to worry, we are only human, can't help it. I guess we need to pray for stronger faith, the Lord knows our intentions are good, we need to pray that he makes us stronger.

Have a good day and enjoy your weekend.

Be still, and know.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Serenity - thanks for praying for all of us - you're in my prayers too for your intentions. Sorry about your kidney infection. When I started with bladder infections, I was put on Bactrim also way back in 1993, I believe it was, then Macribid. Now when I get a bout I just take the holistic one, Urosode, which works great for me. Whenever I have a bout, I just take a few drops of it and it's gone, and it's not a drug. Thanks for posting.

Lucy - sometimes our plans don't seem to work out like I first think they should. Mine didn't today either, hope I get more done yet before he comes home. Vacuuming is next. Then cooking. I agree that we need to pray that Our Lord makes us stronger. Thanks for posting!
