Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends! I just want to let you know that Saturday's thread will come out early and I'll title it Daily Positive Thread for the weekend. We leave tomorrow afternoon and all according to Lori's eye doctor where she gets her lasik surgery we'll get home either Sunday night or Monday. Sunday will be the birthday party for my sisters - two of them, I'll be bringing the cake - also bringing the Ground Turkey Vegetable soup I just made, among other things, Deil says she's bringing her home made apple kuchen, and German Potato Salad (it's a hot one). We're staying at Ethel's. She's making Ham and beans. Sister LaDonna is coming too, she got a ride - Praise God! She's bringing some buns. Lori is cooking, too, tomorrow night we're going to have her clam chowder along with other sea food. We are going to my sister, Deil's, tomorrow night, staying there overnight and bringing her to Ethel's. It's a round about way, but she needs to be there and we don't expect her to drive there at 91. So we'll take her home either Sunday night or Monday. Oh - the dogs are coming along too. Ethel doesn't care - she has a nice fenced in back yard anyway. She's living in her son, David's house, who died a few years ago of lung cancer, and he had a big dog. It was his wish that she moved there. Please would you say a prayer that Lori's surgery will be a success and no complications whatsoever? Thank you!

Not one day passes without receiving wonderful blessings from our loving

and generous God. Lord, may I forget the irritations that distract me from

Your happiness.

Scripture for the day:

"Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near."

~Isaiah 55:6

Meditation for the day:

God finds, amid the crowd, a few people who follow, just to be near God,

just to dwell in God's presence. A longing in the eternal heart may be

satisfied by these few people. I can let God know that I seek not just to

dwell in God's presence, to be near God, not so much for teaching or a

message, as just for God. It can be that the longing of the human heart to

be loved for itself is something caught from the great divine heart.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may have a listening ear, so that God may speak to me. I pray

that I may have a waiting heart, so that God may come to me.

Prayer to Defeat the Work of Satan

O Divine Eternal Father, in union with your Divine Son and the Holy Spirit,

and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg You to destroy the Power of

your greatest enemy - the evil spirits.

Cast them into the deepest recesses of h ell and chain them there forever!

Take possession of your Kingdom which You have created and which is

rightfully yours.

Heavenly Father, give us the reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the

Immaculate Heart of Mary.

I repeat this prayer out of pure love for You with every beat of my heart

and with every breath I take. Amen

Imprimatur, March 1973, ĂťRichard H. Ackerman, Bishop of Covington

Spread the Peace

Peace is accepting the differences of others.

Peace is understanding another's sorrow.

Peace is sharing in another's trials.

Peace is lending a hand to a stranger

in need without being asked.

Peace is pressing forward with a

hopeful heart in times of difficulty.

Spread the peace

around the world!

Your Work Today

Is anyone happier because you passed this way?

Does anyone remember that you spoke to him today?

Can you say tonight, in parting with the day that is slipping fast,

That you helped a single person of the many that you passed ?

Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said?

Does the man whose hopes were fading, now in courage look ahead?

Did you leave a trail of kindness or a scar of discontent?

As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say,

You have earned one more tomorrow by the work you did today.

Lent is a time to reflect upon our lives; to see what in our lives may prove

to be obstacles to our salvation, and learn how to overcome them; and to do

penance for the times when we transgress the Commandments of God. It is

also a time of great hope; for it is when we are truly sorry for our sins,

and wish sincerely to make amends for them, and avoid them in the future,

that we begin to understand the depths of God's Mercy

Lord, God,

Trinity of Love,

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

I praise You,

I worship You,

I adore You,

I love You.

Father, Creator,

I thank You for the gift of life.

May I do Your will this day.

Jesus, Son, Savior,

by Your death on the Cross,

You showed me the Father's love.

May I be willing to die to myself

in order to live for You.

May I share Your "Good News" this day

with all those around me.

May Your love be reflected

in every kind word, thought, and deed.

And if I fail, be there to raise me up.

Spirit, Sanctifier,

shower Your life

upon all the peoples of the world.

Grant us the gifts of peace and love.

Amen.

The Interview with God

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I dreamed I had an interview with God.
“So you would like to interview me?” God asked.
“If you have the time” I said.
God smiled. “My time is eternity.”
“What questions do you have in mind for me?”
“What surprises you most about humankind?”
God answered...
“That they get bored with childhood,
they rush to grow up, and then
long to be children again.”
“That they lose their health to make money...
and then lose their money to restore their health.”
“That by thinking anxiously about the future,
they forget the present,
such that they live in neither
the present nor the future."
"That they live as if they will never die,
and die as though they had never lived.”
God’s hand took mine
and we were silent for a while.
And then I asked...
“As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons
you want your children to learn?”
“To learn they cannot make anyone love them.
All they can do is let themselves be loved.”
“To learn that it is not good
to compare themselves to others.”
“To learn to forgive
by practicing forgiveness.”
“To learn that it only takes a few seconds
to open profound wounds in those they love,
and it can take many years to heal them.”
“To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most,
but is one who needs the least.”
“To learn that there are people
who love them dearly,
but simply have not yet learned
how to express or show their feelings.”
“To learn that two people can look at the same thing
and see it differently.”
“To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another,
but they must also forgive themselves.”
"Thank you for your time," I said humbly.
"Is there anything else you would like your children to know?"
God smiled and said,
“Just know that I am here... always.”
Dear Lord,
Help me to be a true disciple
who follows Your way and Your teachings.
It's so easy to be tempted and led astray.
Through the love and strength of your Holy Spirit,
may I stay on the path that leads to Your Heavenly Kingdom.
Amen
Hello To All!
GloriaJean - You know you have the prayer and support of your posters and readers for your daughter and any and all you've asked us to pray for. Your meals sound so good and you write with excitement on getting together with your family. Sounds like an enjoyable weekend.
Yes, my work has been challenging and tiring lately. It will calm down the end of the month and I will pass on some responsibility to others and I will just do some routine things.
My highest thoughts and best of thoughts for all. Be at peace and know that you are loved.
What in the world is wrong with this board.
I posted on this thread this morning and now it's gone.
All I said and I quote "" hey Gloria I pray Lori has a successful procedure this weekend. and thank you for the prayers for my brother.
Thank you Loves Roses for your prayers too"" That may not have been word for word but that is about what I said. It was there and now it isn't. LOL.
Counting my Blessings.
Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday
Hello everyone,
It's been awhile...I have been trying to read each day, and I must say it has been frustrating with pages loading, and what not. So today, I thought I would see if I could even sign on, since Q's changes.
Gloriajean, prayers for Lori, I feel God will have the surgery go good. And I hope you will have a wonderful time with your sisters. I know you will just by all the planning...sounds like a lot of fun. So glad prayers were answered for Linus, and he is drug free now. Prayers for a safe journey for all. Look forward too hear how everything goes. Oh and know I am also keeping Darla in my prayers, may she be painfree, and that special job back in her home state.
Harlene, such good news about your brother Bob. God is so good! Thank You God for answering our prayers. Hope you and your loved ones have a great weekend.
Love Roses, continued prayers for Skip. Our Creator does create different seasons for us to go through. Sometimes they may be difficult and others times it may be smooth sailing. I hope you and your hubby have a great weekend. May peace be with you, and know that you are loved to.
Bobbisue, warmer weather seems to be on the way. Prayers for Puddles, and of course keeping you and your loved ones in my prayers.
Felicia, continued prayers for you and your loved ones.
Keeping all in my prayers. I know others posted, but my mind just went blank. Sorry, but know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
I have been working at the station/store, since the first, six days a week, evening hours. The owner's father had a major heart attack, and he had to go to India. This past Sunday, he passed away. He was 80 years old. Very nice man. Sadly his heart was good, what he didn't know he had diabetes, and got an infection, which led to kidney failure, and the heart had to work harder, and it finally gave out. Please say a prayer for their comfort and for their safe journey home. He will be back at the store on the 26th.
My blessing, flowers are blooming, trees are budding out, and the sunsets, clouds and the night sky sure has taken my breath away. Thank You Lord Jesus for my eyes. My eyes to take in all of Your lovely creations, thank You!
Psalm 16:7-8 "I will praise the LORD, who counsel me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken."
Until next time...
Take Care and God Bless!
