Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends! We went out to eat for breakfast today, first time in a long tome, Potato Pancakes, we used to like it more, guess we're just not ready yet for this, I'm really getting picky with food lately - for supper I made basil tomato soup (that we canned) with noodles and that felt good for us both. I'm sure that soon we'll be feeling better - but it takes time. I got some SA8 Amway laundry soap today - a friend sells it, got the big box, it should last about a year - I just use 1/4 cup to a large load, a blessing to have! I used to sell Amway many years ago!! I've always loved their products. Praying for all your needs!! Thanks for your prayers for us.

Do what is right and good in the eyes of the Lord and receive

the fullness of His blessings. Lord, I thank You for the gifts that

I have received and ask forgiveness for all that I have done wrong.

Scripture for the day:

"Whoever was called in the Lord as a slave is a freed person belonging to

the Lord, just as whoever was free when called is a slave of Christ. You

were bought with a price; do not become slaves of human masters. In

whatever condition you were called, brothers and sisters, there remain with

God." ~1 Corinthians 7:22-24

Meditation for the day:

Cooperation with God is the great necessity for our lives. All else then

can follow naturally. Cooperation with God is the result of our

consciousness of God's presence. Guidance is bound to come to us as we live

more and more with God. We can have many quiet times when we not so much

ask to be shown and led by God, as to feel and realize God's presence. New

spiritual growth and life comes naturally when we cooperate with God.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that God may supply me with strength and show me the direction in

which God wants me to grow. I pray that these things may come naturally

from my cooperation with God.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

-- Author Unknown

A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after

having fought in Vietnam. He called his parents from San Francisco.

"Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've a favor to ask. I have a

friend I'd like to bring home with me."

"Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him."

"There's something you should know the son continued, he was hurt

pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a land mind and lost an

arm and a leg. He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live

with us."

"I'm sorry to hear that, son. Maybe we can help him find somewhere to

live."

"No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us."

"Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're asking. Someone

with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. We have our own

lives to live, and we can't let something like this interfere with our

lives. I think you should just come home and forget about this guy.

He'll find a way to live on his own."

At that point, the son hung up the phone. The parents heard nothing

more from him. A few days later, however, they received a call from

the San Francisco police. Their son had died after falling from a

building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide. The

grief-stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the

city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him,

but to their horror they also discovered something they didn't know,

their son had only one arm and one leg.

The parents in this story are like many of us. We find it easy to love

those who are good-looking or fun to have around, but we don't like

people who inconvenience us or make us feel uncomfortable. We would

rather stay away from people who aren't as healthy, beautiful, or

smart as we are. Thankfully, there's someone who won't treat us that

way. Someone who loves us with an unconditional love that welcomes us

into the forever family, regardless of how messed up we are.

Tonight, before you tuck yourself in for the night, say a little

prayer that God will give you the strength you need to accept people

as they are, and to help us all be more understanding of those who are

different from us!!

Golden Rules for Living

by Miriam Hamilton Keare

1. If you open it, close it.

2. If you turn it on, turn it off.

3. If you unlock it, lock it up.

4. If you break it, admit it.

5. If you can't fix it, call in someone who can.

6. If you borrow it, return it.

7. If you value it, take care of it.

8. If you make a mess, clean it up.

9. If you move it, put it back.

10. If it belongs to someone else, get permission to use it.

11. If you don't know how to operate it, leave it alone.

12. If it's none of your business, don't ask questions.

Here's a Franciscan Morning Prayer:

Jesus Lord, I offer you this new day because I believe in you,

love you, hope all things in you and thank you for your blessings.

I am sorry for having offended you and forgive everyone who has offended me.

Lord, look on me and leave in me peace and courage

and your humble wisdom that I may serve others with joy,

and be pleasing to you all day. Amen.

ACCEPTANCE OF GOD'S WILL

In all things may the most holy, the most just, and

the most lovable will of God be done, praised and

exalted above all for ever. Your will be done, O Lord,

your will be done. The Lord has given, the Lord has

taken away,, blessed be the name of the Lord.

SOMETIMES GOD WHISPERS

by Jeanette Hays

An old preacher spoke something in reply to a question from a young man,

something so hushed it was indistinguishable. The young man stepped across

the room. "What did you say?" he asked. The preacher repeated himself, but

again in a tone as soft as a whisper. So the young man moved closer until he

was leaning on the preacher's chair.

"Sorry," he said. "I still didn't hear you." With their heads bent together,

the old preacher spoke once more. "God sometimes whispers," he said, "so we

will move closer to hear him."

We all want God's voice to thunder through the air with the answer to our

problem. But God's is the still, small voice ... the gentle whisper.

Perhaps there's a reason.

Nothing draws human focus quite like a whisper.

God's whisper means I must stop my ranting and move close to Him, until my

head is bent together with His. And then, as I listen, I will find my

answer.

Better still, I find myself closer to God.

And there is no better place to be.

Good Morning! Gloria I was reading that you went out for breakfast...based on your posts it has always sounded like you are an excellent cook. No wonder you said you are picky about your meals.. But it is nice to take a break from cooking once in awhile. I read on Viewpoints that Bobbisue is thinking of finding a part time job. I pray that she finds something and that her health continues to improve. Blessings for all who post on this thread. Have a wonderful weekend!
