Daily Positive Thread for Friday

In everything imitate God and you will come to know him better and better.
Lord, I ask your help to come close to you in my thoughts and bring love to
this earth.

Scripture for the day:

"And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God,
and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." ~John 17:3

Meditation for the day:

"And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God,
and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." Learning to know God as best we
can helps us experience eternal life. Freed from some of the
limitations of humanity, we can grow in things that are eternal. We
can strive for what is real and of eternal value. The more we try to
live in the consciousness of the unseen world, the gentler will be our
passing into it when the time comes for us to go. This life on earth
can be largely a preparation for the eternal life to come.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may live each day as though it were my last. I pray that
I may live my life as though it were everlasting.

Hello my friends! Well it was a rainy day here today - but that is good, we
need it. My husband got a cute birthday card from my sister, Deil!, also a
really nice one from Lori. He had a good day. Nice and relaxing day. Guess
what? I haven't seen Mickey, the cardinal for a long time, and I actually
prayed to Mary this afternoon for him to come again, and a few hours later
there he was at the feeder! Just little things can make me happy! Now
where is the female, Myrtle? Laying eggs? Maybe. She still has to eat!
Today's blessings was a nice daughter visit over lunch, and she got her Dad
a gift certificate for a fishing license and she got herself one too so they
can go fishing together. She's always loved going fishing with her Dad.
Tomorrow is the funeral for my cousin in Mpls. We'll need the GPS for that.
So many funerals this year so far!

Merciful Father/ Loving Mother,
I know that the tiny sacrifices I make this Lent
can never serve as a real penance in my life.
But help me to make my whole life
one of following your Son.
I am filled with your love.
Let your love shine out from within me
and guide my life in this sacred journey
toward the Easter joy you offer me.

Insight:

God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. "For God so loved the
world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting Life." [John 3:16]

The problem is that you and I, all of us, have done and thought things
wrong, and our sins have separated us from God.

The good news is that God sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in
our place, to the pay the penalty for our sins. The gift of God is eternal
life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. When we accept Jesus as our Saviour,
we are accepting the call for repentance, the call to turn from sin. We
receive Christ not so to continue sin, but to stop it. Grace is not an
authority to sin; it is the power not to.

May you grow in your Christian life to love one another. Jesus said, "My
commandment is this: love one another, just as I love you." (John 15:12)

Let us pray:
Help us Lord, to follow your command to walk in love and to demonstrate our
faith through expressions of love today. Inspire us to acts of love towards
our fellow man today. May our kind and encouraging words, our thoughtful
gestures and our gentle witness touch our co-workers, friends, family,
neighbours, and even strangers with your love! May our deeds before men be a
testimony of your love, a witness of your character, and a sincere
expression of our faith to the world. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen

Carry Your Cross

Take up your cross, the Savior said,
If you would my disciple be;
Deny yourself, the world forsake,
And humbly follow after me.
Take up your cross, let not its weight
Fill your weak spirit with alarm;
His strength shall bear your heart and nerve your arm.
Take up your cross then in his strength,
And ev’ry danger calmly brave,
To guide you to a better home,
And vict’ry over death and grave.
Take up your cross and follow Christ,
Nor think till death to lay it down;
For only he who bears the cross
May hope to wear the glorious crown.
To you, great Lord, the One in three,
All praise for evermore ascend;
O grant us here below to see
The heav’nly life that knows no end.
