Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Never stop praying no matter how hopeless your case may seem. Pray before you start your day and when you end it. Pray before you begin a task. Lord, I thank You for all of Your blessings. Together we can do all that I must.

"If there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any sharing in the Spirit, any compassion and sympathy, make my joy
complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full
accord and of one mind." Philippians 2:1-2

There is great joy in living the spiritual life. A faith without joy is
not entirely genuine. If we are not happier as a result of our faith,
there is probably something wrong. Faith in God can bring us a deep
feeling of happiness and security, no matter what happens on the surface of our life. Each new day is another opportunity to serve God and improve our relationships with other people. This can bring joy. Life can be abundant and outreaching. It can be glowing and outgoing, in ever widening circles.

I pray that my horizons may grow ever wider. I pray that I may keep
reaching out for more service and companionship.

Greetings to you all! I just want you to know that I'm typing this on Word Pad - on Times New Roman - font size 16, so I'm hoping the thread can be bigger print this time. My blessings today - I spent time at organizing all my folders that were in one heap bunch, so I got them all sorted out now and feel that was a big accomplishment. I started on this yesterday already, there was about 1400 - Lots was for my list. Some I could delete, but most I needed to keep. So glad that job is finished! I did lose all the prayers I had saved. I'll ask Nadine to send to me what she has. Nadine lives in Finland and she's my Secretary for my list. She is a great blessing - my back-up for my list because she takes over for me when I'm gone, and when I had no computer there for awhile. Good thing I had Mel's phone no. Mel is on my list and she emailed Nadine - told her what happened to me and she took over. Lori got us airline tickets now for Easter in Texas to spend with Darla and Greg. We leave on Good Friday - come back Monday after Easter, Linus plans to stay a few more days with her - she wants him to help with landscaping. It's been a blessing having Linus home today - he rested - did some shopping, watched some TV, and tomorrow he's off again - no plans - just heal, being off his feet!

Homily of the Day

God Cannot Be Manipulated
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Heb 3:7-14 / Mk 1:40-45
I found something quite astonishing in our church the other day, a stack of nine copies of a perfectly fine little prayer to St Jude. But typed on the bottom of each one was this instruction: “Make 81 copies of this prayer, deposit nine copies in your church every day for nine days. No later than the ninth day, your prayer will be granted.” As if the Almighty God and Lord of the universe could be manipulated so easily and made to do our bidding! As the title of that old book says, “Your God Is Too Small”!
It was the same kind of mechanical, magical approach to God that the Israelites tried when they sent for the Ark of the Covenant as they faced the Philistines in battle. It didn’t occur to them to look inward for the source of their recent defeat. “We just forgot to use the right magic,” they said to themselves as they repeated their mistake yet again.
The quest for a quick fix and for cheap salvation is a perennial one, and it can leave us dangerously impoverished within. There is no valid religious practice or experience which is not about transformation, our transformation on the inside. Wherever that is lacking, we are wasting our time, and fooling ourselves into thinking that God can be manipulated or fooled.
He can’t! So let’s get serious about transformation.

Reality of Life

Life isn't just full of happiness,
It's sunsets, it's love, it's tears.
It's the thoughts of yesterdays memories,
That can wash away all our fears.

It's that very painful experience,
That each one of us has had.
It's the laughter that fills the air,
It's the tears when you are sad.

It's loving that someone special,
That at one time made you smile.
It's the pain of losing that person,
But the memories that make it worthwhile.

It's that child in every one of us,
Although in time we'll all be old.
It's the good times we'll never forget,
It's the memories we'll always hold.

It's the hug that we all need,
When we'd rather drown in our sorrow.
It's the hope in every one of us,
That makes us hold on for tomorrow.

To Mary: Spouse Of The Spirit

Daughter of the most High,
mother of God
faithful spouse of the Holy Spirit --
yet also
Mary of Nazareth,
Joseph's wife,
my mother --
hear my prayer for grace, O full of grace.
Pray your spouse the Holy Spirit
to come upon me --
to shelter me from all ill,
to strengthen me to do what is right,
to teach me all truth.
Pray the Spirit come to me,
and abide with me,
and be within me a fountain
springing up into eternal life.
May the Spirit sustain me in sorrow,
sanctify me in life,
and receive me at the hour of my death.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray these things for me.
New Year's Resolution

At the beginning of a new year, it is traditional that we make resolutions. Resolutions are promises concerning things that we will try to accomplish in the year to come. Usually, they have to do with losing weight, trying to stop smoking, working harder in school/work or something such as that. I'd like to share what I believe are resolutions that will help to insure that we will all have a happy and prosperous New Year.

In the New Year, be sure to LIE, CHEAT, DRINK, SWEAR and STEAL more than you did last year.

LIE back and relax just a little more this new year. Let a little more life happen to you without so much worry.

CHEAT failure. Don't be afraid to try something new because you think you may fail. It is through failure that we learn the most valuable lessons.

DRINK from the fountain of knowledge. Many people around you have already been down roads you are about to travel. Learn from mistakes they have made. Take what they have learned and use it.

SWEAR to do your best. All the time, in every situation. That is all anybody will ever ask.

STEAL a little time for yourself. Everyday take a little more time to develop a stronger relationship with- the one and only...YOU.

So, if you lie, cheat, drink, swear and steal just a little more in the next year, you will have a profitable and enjoyable year ahead!

God bless you in 2011!

Remind Me God!
When I am lonely and Perhaps I feel despair,
Let not my ailing heart forget That YOU hear every prayer...
Remind me that no matter what I do or fail to do,
There still is hope for as long as I have FAITH in YOU...
Let not my eyes be blinded by Some folly I commit,
But help me to regret my wrong And make amends for it.
Inspire me to put my fears Upon a hidden shelf,
And in the future try not to Feel sorry for myself.
Give me the restful sleep I need Before another dawn,
And bless me in the morning with THE COURAGE TO GO ON
...Here are 21 things to remember.......

1. No one can ruin your day without YOUR permission.

2. Most people will be about as happy, as they decide to be.

3. Others can stop you temporarily, but only you can do it permanently.

4. Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will
have.

5. Success stops when you do.

6. When your ship comes in. ... make sure you are willing to unload it.

7. You will never "have it all together."

8. Life is a journey...not a destination. Enjoy the trip!

9. The biggest lie on the planet: "When I get what I want, I will be
happy."

10. The best way to escape your problem is to solve it.

11. I've learned that ultimately, 'takers' lose and 'givers' win.

12. Life's precious moments don't have value, unless they are shared.

13. If you don't start, it's certain you won't arrive.

14. We often fear the thing we want the most.

15. He or she who laughs......lasts.

16. Yesterday was the deadline for all complaints.

17. Look for opportunities...not guarantees.

18. Life is what's coming....not what was.

19. Success is getting up one more time.

20. Now is the most interesting time of all.

21. When things go wrong.....don't go with them.

Closing Prayer:

Prayer for Perseverance in Faith
Father, keep us from vain strife of words. Grant to us constant profession of the Truth! Preserve us in a true and undefiled Faith so that we may hold fast to that which we professed when we were baptized in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit - that we may have Thee for our Father, that we may abide in Thy Son and in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Saint Hilary of Poitiers, Bishop and Doctor

Good night everyone! Sweet dreams and may your Friday be filled with lots of blessings!
