Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Let today's difficulties make you better not bitter. Lord, guide me, protect
me
and work through me.

S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"My speech and my proclamation were not with plausible words of wisdom,
but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith
might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God. Yet among the
mature
we do speak wisdom, though it is not a wisdom of this age or of
the rulers of this age, who are doomed to perish. But we speak God's
wisdom, secret and hidden, which God decreed before the ages for our
glory." ~1 Corinthians 2:4-7

In these times of quiet meditation, we can try more and more to set our
hopes on the grace of God. We can know that whatever the future may
hold, it can hold more and more of good. We need not set all our hopes
and desires on material things. There can be weariness in an abundance
of things. We can set our hopes on spiritual things so that we may grow
spiritually. We can learn to rely on God's power more and more and in
that reliance we can have an insight into the greater value of the
things of the spirit.

I pray that I may not be overwhelmed by material things. I pray that I
may realize the higher value of spiritual things.

Hello my friends! Hope you all had a great day today. We had beautiful
weather today - and our friends we went to the State Fair with were here for
a fish fry. I made a nice salad with fruits in it like grapes and our
raspberries, our own red pepper from the garden, some summer squash that is
good to eat raw, and walnuts which always is good on the salad. Dressing
was olive oil and vinegar. We also had sweet potatoe fries that Linus made
on the grill, and he fried the fish in a skillet in the garage so it
wouldn't smell up the house. It worked out well. I made an apple crunch for
dessert and then we played Farkel until time for them to leave. We were out
in the patio all night. It was so much fun! Now it's late and I'd better
hurry, but that was my great blessing today along with my ordinary
blessings - the blessing of friends!! Great blessing that is! Prayers going
for all those who are in the flood zones, PA friends, Pinky Ann, thanks for
the report on the news about it. Oh one more blessing before I start with
the inspirations: Got a Perm today - first one in a few years and I like
it! This is with Georgia who comes to my house. $30.00, can't beat that!!
It's going to be fun now with curly hair to do things with. She didn't cut
it at all, and it's nice this length. My guests tonight liked it!!

Acknowledge Your Poverty and Get Rich
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Micah 5:1-4 / Is 13:6ab, 6c/ Mt 1:1-16,18-23

The first of the eight beatitudes has a hidden wisdom waiting for us. The
literal reading, of course, is, “Blessed are you poor, the reign of God is
yours.” In a word, God is going to GIVE the poor the kingdom, for no reason
except that God is generous.

The same beatitude, however, can be read on another level, “Blessed are you
who KNOW you are poor…” Recognizing that deep down we are all poor, and
that we own nothing at all, not even our own lives, comes slowly to many of
us. Having a decent supply of this world’s goods can insulate us from the
facts of our situation as creatures. We can take ourselves too seriously.
And unless we’re brought up short by some tragedy, we can think that we’re
quite self-sufficient and can dispense with bothering too much with God. An
occasional bow in his direction will suffice — we think.

In fact, that’s a recipe for disaster, because it locks out God. It’s that
sin of presumption which the old catechism warned us was unforgivable,
because it says, “I don’t need God’s help,” which is the biggest lie of them
all. In that circumstance, a wake-up call, even if it comes in the form of
a tragedy, is a blessing, because it gets us back to reality. It gets the
doors open and lets God in.

The stakes here are high, so some serious questions are in order:

Have you faced what it means to own nothing, not even your own life? Have
you really accepted the fact that everything you have is strictly on loan,
even your greatest talents? Has that recognition led you to a deep
gratitude and a total reliance on God?

If so, you’re on your way, and the kingdom of God will be yours. If not,
you’re in trouble and don’t even know it. But you will. So don’t wait for
a painful wake-up call. Face the facts now, and give your life into God’s
hands. In the end, he’s the only one who can save you, and that’s exactly
what he wants to do.

The Birth of Mary (Today we celebrate the Birth of Mary)

Thy birth, O Virgin Mother of God,
heralded joy to all the world.
For from thou hast risen the Sun of justice,
Christ our God.

Destroying the curse, He gave blessing;
and damning death, He bestowed on us
life everlasting.

Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
For from thou hast risen of Sun of justice,
Christ our God.

DIRECTIONS TO OUR FATHER'S HOUSE.

Make a Right onto Believeth Blvd.

Keep straight and go through the Green Light, which is Jesus Christ.

There, you must turn onto the Bridge of Faith, which is over troubled water.

When you get off the bridge, make a Right turn and Keep Straight.

You are on the King's Highway - Heaven-bound.

Keep going for three miles:

One for the Father, One for the Son, and One for the Holy Spirit

Then exit off onto Grace Blvd.

From there, make a Right turn on Gospel Lane.

Keep Straight and then make another Right on Prayer Road.

As you go on your way,

Yield Not to the traffic on Temptation Ave.

Also, avoid SIN STREET because it is a DEAD END.

Pass up Envy Drive, and Hate Avenue.

Also, pass Hypocrisy Street, Gossiping Lane, and Backbiting Blvd.
However, you have to go down Long-suffering Lane, Persecution Blvd. and
Trials and Tribulations Ave.

But that's all right, because VICTORY Street is straight ahead!

SEND THESE DIRECTIONS TO YOUR FRIENDS SO THEY WILL NOT GET LOST.

Truly blessed

Here's a great way to quickly change your attitude about anything and to put
yourself in a positive frame of mind. Wherever you are, whatever has
happened, in every situation, consider yourself truly blessed. If there's
something which must be done, that you'd really rather avoid, consider that
you're truly blessed to be doing it. That simple change in thinking can put
an amazing positive spin on the experience.

If there's a troublesome situation confronting you, consider yourself truly
blessed to be able to face it. It will help you to fashion your most
positive, effective and resourceful response.

Sure, it's difficult to think of yourself as truly blessed when you're in
the middle of something unpleasant, frightening or frustrating. Difficult as
it may be, though, it sure beats the alternative of giving in to despair and
negativity.

It may not make sense at first to your logical mind, yet in some very
positive and empowering way your spirit will understand. Indeed, you are
truly blessed, and it can be a powerful positive boost to remind yourself of
that fact. Just do it and see for yourself what a difference it can make.

Ralph Marston

I felt led to put this prayer here again:

A Fervent Prayer For The Sick and Suffering
O Almighty Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God and Savior. The same Lord that so
loves His children as to lay His life down for them. The same Lord that rose
from the dead on the third day, and Ascended into Heaven. The same Lord that
spoke the word and the Centurion’s Servant was immediately healed. The same
Lord that restored sight to the blind; cleansed lepers, cured the halt and
lame. The same Lord that with a word rebuked the seas and they were calm.
The same Lord that raised Lazarus from the dead. The same Lord that has been
given all power both in Heaven and on earth, do Thou, the same Lord visit
and heal Thy servant, (__name__), from the afflictions that they are now
suffering. Strengthen our faith like that of the Roman Centurion, so that we
may ask for this healing with the same faith, trust, and hope that Thy
servant, (__name__) will be healed in the same manner that the Centurion’s
servant was restored to health. O Holy physician of our souls and bodies,
hear this fervent prayer for Thy servant (__name__), and grant this request
as we hold this, Thy servant up before Thy glorious Throne. We ask this in
the victorious and Holy Name of our Lord, God, and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Prayer to Honor the Name of Mary

O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to thank the Holy Trinity for
having created thee so beautiful and full of grace. I want to honor thine
Immaculate Conception, thy Divine Maternity, and thy glorious Assumption.

O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to unite myself with thee in
co-offering all the Masses which are being celebrated throughout the world,
in order to offer to Jesus through thine Immaculate Heart my actions, my
prayers, my joys and my troubles each and every moment of my life.

O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to confide to thee those whom I
love and those to whom I wish to do good, especially: . . .

I wish to receive from Jesus through thee all the graces of which I am in
need: spiritual graces and temporal favors, especially: . . .

O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to remind thee that I am thy child
and that thou art my Mother. Help me as thou didst help Jesus. Protect me as
thou didst protect Jesus.
When I call thee, Mary, remember me!

It would be most efficacious to recite this prayer at the beginning of each
day, preferably before our daily Rosary or before any chaplet. The name of
Mary is mentioned no less than 106 times in the Rosary and at least once in
most chaplets.

Dearest Mother of Our Lord,

Sweet and blessed mother, guide our mothers that they too may lead us to
Your Son, just as you show us.
May they imitate Your love and devotion.
May we in return also be loving, patient, understanding and supportive to
our mothers.

Blessed Mother, we pray for all mothers - our own mums, our aunts, our
grandmothers... the living and the departed.

Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with You.
Blessed are you amongst all women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Good night everyone - Sweet Dreams to all and hope you all have a restful
night - and full of energy in the morning! That is my wish for you! God
bless you!!
