Daily Positive Thread for Friday

There is never a wrong time to do something good. Lord, I will show my
gratitude for my many blessings by using them to bring joy to others.

Scripture for the day:

"Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help and my God."
~Psalm 42:5-6

Meditation for the day:

Not what we do so much as what we are, that is the miracle-working power.
We can be a force for good, with God's help. God is here to help us and to
bless us, here to be with us. We can be workers with God. Changed by God's
grace, we can shed one garment of the spirit for a better one. In time, we
can throw that one aside for yet a finer one. And so from character to
character, we can be gradually transformed.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may accept every challenge. I pray that each acceptance of a
challenge may make me grow into a better person.

Hello my friends! Hope your day went well. It was such blessing today to
spend the day with Deil, my oldest sister, after we signed the papers for
our house. We brought her lots of apples from our trees, and she made an
apple pie for Darla for when she comes on Sunday night. Big surprise for
Darla! She loves her Godmother's apple pies!! Also tomorrow we will be
picking up a cake from the radio that my cousin entered in for Darla's
birthday and she won! Deil's a great cook!! For lunch a really nice, fancy
taco salad, and apple pie! Supper with wine, she made steak on the grill
and a broccoli salad and corn on cob! Dessert more apple pie!! She has a
wonderful neighbor who works full time, but still comes over a lot and takes
care of Deil, just being there for her if needed! She will come over and
bring Deil some time soon and stay overnight - really looking forward to it.
Monica is an Angel!
Before leaving, we all prayed the Rosary and Divine Chaplet on Deil's patio,
and it was so nice and peaceful, and even no mosquitoes to bother with!!!

Be Faithful As God Is Faithful
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Judges 11:29-39 / Mt 22:1-14

How chilling are those last words of today’s Old Testament reading: "… She
returned to her father, who did to her as he had vowed." In a word, he
killed her and burned her body on the altar of sacrifice, because God has
kept his word and given him victory.

Why are we still reading this terrible passage? Certainly not for its
ruthless disregard for innocent life. It has something else that’s very
important, a recognition that God is absolutely faithful and always keeps
his promises. And what GOD asks in return is that we be faithful as well,
both to him and to one another.

That isn’t easy in an era when commitments often have a half-life of days
rather than years. But it’s the only way of living that works, keeping faith
with the Lord and one another. It’s the only way of ever bringing to reality
what our hearts most deeply desire, and that is communion, life which can be
shared with confidence, and joy because we know we can trust.

So be faithful as your Father is faithful. The communion you long for will
follow.

Today's Joy Was Born Of Yesterday's Sorrow

By: Helen Steiner Rice

Who said the darkness of the night would never turn to day,
who said the winter's bleakness would never pass away,
who said the fog would never lift and let the sunshine through,
who said the skies now overcast would never more be blue.....
Why should we ever entertain these thoughts so dark and grim
and let the brightness of our minds grow cynical and dim.
When we know beyond all questioning that winter turns to spring
and on the notes of sorrow new songs are made to sing....
For no one sheds a teardrop or suffers loss in gain,
and every burden born today and every present sorrow
are but God's happy harbinger of a joyous, bright tomorrow.

Have a wonderful week, remember a smile goes a long way to lift someone's
lowly spirits.
Be blessed.

Fruit Of The Spirit Soup
(Galatians 5:22,23)

Pearl Barley - Love
Split Peas - Joy
Black Beans - Peace
Red Beans - Patience
Pinto Beans - Kindness
Navy Beans - Goodness
Lentils - Gentleness
Black-Eye-Peas - Self-Control

Gabanzo's - Holy Spirit
Smoked sausage or diced ham

Directions:
Rinse beans, Put in Crockpot & cover with water. "About 3/4 full of
liquid & beans total", - Add meat, turn on low, cook 8 to 10 hours. (10
to 12 hrs if using Gabanzo's beans) I use liquid smoke, & onions. I also
serve it with fresh bread.

NOTE: I buy 1 pound of each of these beans, open them and put into a
large container, then I mix the completely so there always ready when I
am, I measure out 2 cups and that's enough to feed 4 to 6 folks.

NOTE: This also makes a lovely gift for someone who might be moving or
down in the dumps, if you layer each kind of bean in a jar, then attach
this recipe, they'll always know how much you love them.. (smile)

"MAY YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT HUNGER IS"

"I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet when our
wings have trouble remembering how to fly."

O Virgin Mother

O Virgin Mother,
In the depths of your heart you pondered the Life of the son you brought
into the world. Give us your vision of Jesus and ask the Father to open our
hearts, that we may always see his presence in our lives, and in the power
of the Holy Spirit, bring us into the joy and peace of the kingdom, where
Jesus is Lord forever and ever. Amen

most lovable Heart , O Mary , my Mother, Consoler of the Afflicted , pray
for us , who have recourse to you

Sayings of Mother Teresa

Jesus came amongst his own and his own received him not
He knew suffering and loneliness.
He knows your pain, Bruised, divided, full of pain and wounds as you are,
accept Jesus as he comes into your life
and recognize him when once more he comes in his distressing disguise.
Be not afraid in your suffering.
God loves you. As miserable, weak and sinful as we are.
He loves us with an infinitely faithful and forgiving love.

THE PRAYER
Author Unknown

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and
to seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, "Woe on
those who call evil good," but that's exactly what we have done. We
have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We confess that:

We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it
pluralism.
We have worshiped other gods and called it multi-culturalism.
We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn children and called it a choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building
self-esteem.
We have abused power and called it political savvy.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and p ornography and called it
freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and
called it enlightenment.
Search us, O God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin
and set
us free. Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to
direct us to the center of Your will. I ask it in the name of Your
Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

What awesome insight !!! With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep
our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can
be called a Christian nation that fears the Lord!

Good night all - Sweet dreams and may you have a wonderful Friday filled
with many blessings!
