Daily Positive Thread for Ash Wednesday

Hello my friends!! Good! I got in! I was surprised, however, that I was missed! I wish to thanks Mama Mia on the other thread for her kind words - and wish she'd come and post here too! Yesterday was the Anniversary of my dear Mom's death in 1965 - just six months after we married. Sister LaDonna called me last night and we talked about her. It was nice. She died just 2 months after my brother got killed, and a year and a half since my Dad died, so we talked about all that last night. My Wedding Day was the last time I saw my brother - he gave me away at our Wedding. You know, I still miss her, and think of her often. Today's blessing was a nice, sun shiny day today - temps above zero! Spring will eventually come! But God is with us always - and He warms my heart. Tomorrow is Lent. A good time for some Spring Cleaning for our souls. May you each have a very blessed Lent.

God's blessings come in packages both large and small. Sometimes

they are expected and sometimes not. Sometimes they are recognized

and sometimes not. Lord, thank you for the joy You light in me, even

in times of sorrow. Please use me to bless someone else.

Scripture for the day:

"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and

tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you--you of

little faith! And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you

are to drink, and do not keep worrying. For it is the nations of the world

that strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need

them. Instead, strive for his kingdom, and these things will be given to

you as well." ~Luke 12:28-31

Meditation for the day:

When we seek to follow the way of the spirit, it frequently means a complete

reversal of the way of the world which we had previously followed. But it

can be a reversal that leads to happiness and peace.

Do the aims and ambitions that a person usually strives for bring peace?

Do the world's awards bring heart-rest and happiness? Or do they turn to

ashes in the mouth?

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may not be weary, disillusioned or disappointed. I pray that

I may not put my trust in the ways of the world, but in the way of the

spirit.

Here's some Mother Teresa quotes for this time:

Mother Teresa Said...

We should realize that poverty doesn't only consist in being hungry for

bread, but rather it is a tremendous hunger for human dignity. We need to

love and to be somebody for someone else.

Trust in the good God who loves us, who cares for us,

who sees all, knows all, can do all things

for my good and the good of souls.

One thing Jesus asks of me: that I lean upon Him;

that in Him alone I put complete trust;

that I surrender myself to Him unreservedly.

"Free means : Joyful and with eagerness, fearlessly

and openly, giving freely what we have

freely received, without accepting any return

in cash or kind reward or gratitude."

"Like Jesus, who submitted Himself to the common law of labor

and the common lot of the poor, we will not seek any special privileges

or treatment for ourselves, but be happy to be treated as one of the poor,

ready to be insulted, ill-treated, refused, blamed falsely,

or put into all kinds of inconveniences.

We shall not seek to defend ourselves,

but leave our defense to the Lord.

We will not worry about tomorrow

but will live the present moment intensely

with complete trust in God."

Here's some Food for Thought:

AN EVERYDAY SURVIVAL KIT

Here's why:

This is my gift to you. May God richly bless you.

To the world, you may just be somebody...but to somebody, you may be

the world.

Dear Child:

I just wanted to remind you today of how beautiful you are because there is

a father of lies who will try to deceive you. He will try to tell you that

you are not good enough, not attractive enough, not thin enough, not strong

enough, not smart enough, not righteous enough, and that you are simply

unimportant to Me.

He will try to tell you that you have broken one too many promises, that you

have fallen one too many times, that you have lived one too many lies, and

that you've been going in the wrong direction so long that it is pointless

to turn back now. But guess what?

YOU DO NOT BELONG TO HIM. HE IS NOT YOUR FATHER.

I AM.

You see, you are My creation. My workmanship. You have been borne of My

thought, every part of you placed together by My hands. You have My

thumbprint upon you. You are a princess, did you know that? You are My

child, the child of THE King!

I look at you and see a precious, priceless pearl. There is no ocean I would

not swim, no mountain I would not climb, no price I would not pay to have

you and to be with you and call you My own.

I already have.

I have done all that I could, given all that there is. I desire to be with

you every moment of every day. How I long for you to talk to Me every day.

My love for you never grows cold. My promises are never broken (contrary to

what he might lead you to believe). My character never changes. And you, my

child have been made in My image.

I love you dearly, unconditionally and completely. I understand every

emotion that you have. I've been there. I count every tear that you cry.

And do you know what?

I even know your weaknesses and your failures and your fears. I know those

hidden parts of you that you wish would go away. Those dark corners of your

world that you stuff deep down, praying that no one will ever see. I have

already seen them and they will not change my love for you.

Nothing will.

I love your heart and I desire all of it.

I just wanted to remind you today of how beautiful you are and how precious

you are to Me.

With Unmeasurable Love,

Your Heavenly Father

Bobbiesue - Yes, I not only miss my dear Mom, of so long ago, but my two nephews and two nieces who have died - and I loved so dearly. But I will see them all again, I know. And one of them, Joey, who died of a heart attack at age 58 saw an apparition of Mary over his bon fire near his house two months before he died. He took her picture because he knew no one would believe him and the picture turned out to show red all around her white whole figure with a crown on - beautiful! Got it framed. Copies were made for all of us. It's on my computer too. He's gone two years now - I know I wrote about him on here when he died. I believe that Mary was there when he died.

serenity - Yes, it's good to be able to sign in when I want to again! Linus is doing well on his job. He is still taking the holistic medicine 200 mg of Zen it's called, twice a day, and it seems to help - he's gets tired alot, and some headaches so he takes some iboprofin then too and that helps him. Praying that he has a good day today and is able to sell lots of appliances! Thanks for asking! Glad you like the Mother Teresa quotes. So do I. She writes everything so profound.

Harlene - Wonderful! Glad you got my Wedding Picture - finally! Good thing I also have a gmail account which I hardly use. Do you want a recent pic too?

Blessings of Lent to all! God be with you!
