Missed it by one day! The Dutch have a great idea to bring thoughts of spring into winter, by having a Tulip Day. Thousands of people in front of the Royal Palace are allowed to pick 20 free tulips each, to take home.
My favorite flowers tend to be other ones, for sentimental or other reasons, like lily-of-the-valley, pansies, ranunculus and roses, violets, and gardenias. But there's nothing like the massed effect of fields of ranks and ranks of bright tulips to banish winter blues.

I'd be curious to know what are other people's favorite flowers and why?

So pretty.
I'm seeing bouquets of tulips at WF but I find that they are not as sturdy as some other flowers, so I pass on buying. Their petals seem to fall too quickly.
How nice to pick fresh flowers, though. Maybe fresh like that they last longer.
Thanks for sharing!

For those of you that love tulips, if you have Britbox ,I think you might enjoy Monty Dons paradise Gardens. It is on Britbox I think, and it might be on Netflix too
He travels all over the mid east visiting gardens ,and they tulips gardens are just out of this world. They are so unusual. I have never seen anything like it. You just can't imagine how lovely a tulip garden can be, until you see them

To answer the question: I do enjoy many types of flowers and I keep a vase of fresh flowers at all times.
I do like the iris but again they do not seem to last very long. They are out right now at WF and I will still buy one bunch. Once in a while I'll come across the white iris and will buy those along with the purple.
I tend to buy two batches of the small carnations; they last a long, long time and a batch of baby's breath to fill in.

I love tulips! I love the way they move throughout the day when I have them in vases.
I really appreciate the structure of tulips with the contrast of something fluffy like hydrangeas.

I love flowers. Lots of them.
My favorites are Lily of the Valley, Hydrangeas, Roses, Gerbera Daisies and Peonies.
I love to see them outdoors. I seem to get a little sad when they are cut and brought indoors where I know they will wilt and quickly die.
When I was a child, our very large yard was full of flowers from spring to fall...old fashioned Lilies and Lilacs, Bachelor Buttons, Sweet Peas, Roses, Hydrangeas, and all different types of annuals. My maternal grandmother planted the perennials before I was born.
She must have loved flowers too. She passed when I was 6 months so I don't remember her. Her flowers were a connection for me to know a little something about her.

I got to visit Keukenhof tulip gardens in Amsterdam and I have never seen anything so beautiful, miles and miles of tulips! So pretty and so many different colors, what an experience that was. Thanks for posting @Oznell , brought a smile to my face.

Near where my daughter use to live was a huge tulip garden, where you could
pick the colors you wanted and then the owner would assembly them into a nice
arrangement for you. Took one of my granddaughters there a couple of
times. It was fun.
My favorite flower....umm, that would be a Yellowrose. Why? Because they
make me happy. But really, I love any flower that grows well for me. My
favorite colors in a garden are yellow, pink and white. Happy Colors. ![]()

Great insight, @LindaSal -- I do believe that flowers can bring a smile to your face, almost involuntarily! Especially to those sensitive people highly in tune with the beauties of nature...
All these interesting recountings of favorite flowers here made me think of another kind I love-- lilacs. Even though they appear ever so briefly, and don't last long inside. That heavenly scent, though...
