sarpy ... when it comes to cardiac surgery he is most certainly not a quack. See my post above. I do not think he is devoting too much time to his medical practice any more..... he is making much more money with the TV show.

Probably a lot less stress too. I figured this was a retirement job or something.

debc..... my brother just informed me that he thinks Dr. Oz is only performing cardiac surgery once a week. Yes, doing the TV show has to be a lot less stressful.

I bet he has a wonderful bedside manner. The ability to make his patient comfortable.

Yes, he makes a lot more money doing TV. Just goes to show you that these people are grossly over paid for what they do. A heart dr. makes a lot of money but these young people in Hollywood make one movie and they don't have to work the rest of their lives. That is if they keep their financials in order.

When I saw the money Dr. Oz was paid by Medicare and AARP for my Mom's heart surgery (which included pre-op care; the 8 hour surgery; and the post-op care) I was stunned. It was ridiculously low! So the TV show has to be much more lucrative for him.

We bought a few of his "recommended" products. They did nothing and were a complete waste of money. The games and demonstrations he does are over the top and silly. I can't understand why these women go on his show and gush all over him.

I am sure there is some useful information shared now and again, and I would trust him with my heart surgery. But I don't watch anymore. The whole show just turns me off.

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else. Margaret Mead

Dr. OZ is purely entertainment. Offers Very little value to anyone other than spending your hard earned dollars on whatever his weight loss pill of the day is. He is a doctor turned quack. Such a shame.

He may be, or may have been, a skilled practitioner but he has aligned himself with quackery to up viewership ratings. Some guests have actually been cited by the FDA for false and unsubstantiated health claims. This is not innocuous. One day someone will be harmed by following the bogus advice promoted on some of his programs.

I would not be surprised if someone or many have not already sued him and the show for damages coming from his quack suggestions...

You can learn a lot watching his show. Like all information now, so much comes off the web and is unfiltered. As consumers of information, we have to work hard to decide what we believe and don't believe based on what we know and what we think. SO, yes, I watch it if it has some topic of interest to me, and I have learned a lot. There is a lot of it I disregard as well.
