Does gender matter to you when selecting a new doctor or dentist?
For me, not so much. I want to select the best, most qualified person as a new provider. In those cases, gender really doesn't matter.
What about you?

After having had a female doctor for twenty years who has retired, I find that I now prefer one. Mine was so compassionate and caring. My new female doctor, a recent grad, not so much.
I've decided it just depends on the individual.

I prefer a woman...I was abused by a male dentist so it does matter to me.

My Dr. who I started seeing at 15 after leaving my pediatrician's office retired in 2005. I started seeing the "male" Dr. he had brought in until his own retirement last June. Now the new Dr. who took over the practice I have only seen once this past January for a physical. I have two things that I had to adjust to it is a female, my first and she is probably 30 years younger than me. None of my other providers have ever been younger than me. But she is great. I do not mind the gender.

For me, years ago yes, male and qualified especially my OBGYN. Can't remember having a female doctor before now.
Now I have a female Doctor but if I wanted to see a GYN I would still choose a male from the Group.

Nope. Insurance matters.

No, gender does not matter. Proficiency is a priority for me.

Here in the "sticks" we really don't have much of a choice.
You get used to one and they leave..they are like flies.

Not to me. My Gastro doctor is a female. Most of my doctors I have been seeing for a couple decades. Weren't as many female doctors in those specialties back when I was being referred by my doctor relatives, or good friends.
I would think having the best would be most patients priority. But I realize everyone is different, and for various reasons.
