Actually, that's very true in many cases.

In many cases, yes, I think it's true insofar as experience being a good teacher. However, we all do have our own breaking point. Some people can work past it & others are more fragile & they break one way or another.

I don't believe in the merit of the quote because I don't believe in the philosophy of the person who originated the quote - Friedrich Nietzsche.

His philosophical writings include the ideas of the Ubermensch [Super-human], the "death" of God and the "will to power," which were used by Hitler to rationalize German superiority and the Holocaust of the Jews.

Also, his life ended in a complete mental breakdown, originally thought to be caused by tertiary syphilis, but later attributed to probable manic-depression. Before his death, he suffered two strokes, and by the end of his life he was unable to speak or walk. This doesn't appear [to me] to be the vibrant life of a person who would have epitomized the quote, <em>"That which does not kill us makes us stronger."</em>

interesting. Thanks.

You're welcome, eloise, as well as SoftRaindrops.

I studied Nietzsche in a philosophy class in college, and found his life and work bizarrely fascinating. {#emotions_dlg.blink}
