I drove to the Motor Vehicle Inspection Station this morning to have my car's biannual inspection in the State of NJ. When I pulled into the Station, I was surprised to see there were no cars in line waiting for their inspections, but there were people going in and out of the "office" part of the building.
There were cones up and a sign that said, STOP, wait for assistance. So I stopped, and busied myself getting my license, registration and insurance card out. The next thing I know, I hear a lot of shouting from across the lot. "What an idiot. Let the idiot sit there. Let her turn around and go home. What an idiot". So I turned in the direction of the yelling, and I said, how am I supposed to know what to do, you've got cones up and a sign that stays STOP and wait. They yelled again for me to drive around the cones.
So I did and approached the inspection lane. I was really kind of upset. There were two huge men - middle aged, very heavy, and I turned in my papers. They were the ones that screamed at me from across the lot. I really thought their behavior was uncalled for. I guess one of those men could not be standing out where the cars have to wait to be called, he may get a sunburn and burn a few more calories.
I failed inspection by the way. Faulty gas cap.
