So worried about Smiley.  He's nothing but skin and bones, so I'm only showing him from the neck up.

He's the only one who came when I rang the bell, so he got two full plates of fruit which he needs.  He left before I could get the protein pellets out of the shed.

Bless his heart!  He may have a parasite, we had a pet squrrel in the woods that had one, and I gave him a touch of what I was taking for cystic acne which was a light steriod.  He got well, fat and happy.

Some of our woods creatures got a big pan of melted sugar butter from my fudge issue night before last!

I hope Smiley gets better.  He has the best care in the world!

@MamaWick,

That is so sad to hear and I know how attached you must be to your deer that come every day to greet you.

I wonder if you can call a wild animal rescue in your area and ask if they have suggestions of what you can give him?

I'm sure you made him feel happy today with all the fruit especially for him. I know you will give him even extra love!

@MamaWick   Sending good thoughts and wishes that Smiley will recover.  I did notice he was rather lean in previous pictures.  It breaks my heart too when those in our care are not doing well.

Hopefully with the good and nutritious eats that you are offering, he'll bounce back.  Everything looks yummy.

It's good to see that he has an appetite.  You had mentioned that a while ago he wasn't eating.

Perhaps he'll return for the pellets.

Prayers go out to Smiley.  Please get better -- everyone cares about you and loves you, especially @MamaWick .  So glad you got 2 plates of food.  As an animal of the wild you have a lot to contend with.

@MamaWick Please, its unlikely, but it is spreading, wear glives and take some photos as she progresses. If you see anything that could be a neurological sign, that would be the main cause for concern. Hopefully, she just has not been getting enough food. Tragically, CWD is spreading among deer.

You and your husband are such good people to care for this adorable little group of dear everyday. I thank you for letting me watch the dear. Watching puts some happiness in my heart. Happy Holidays to you.

God bless you and thank you for providing love, care and sustenance to these precious creatures.  I will keep Smiley in my thoughts and prayers as he continues to thrive.  I know the winter months are hard for them to contend with.

Sad news about Smiley.  I hope that Mother Nature puts into play one of those natural cures that exist for innocents who cannot do much to help themselves.

@MamaWick  Smiley has been less than robust for a while.  He still has his spirit though.  He ate all you put out so he at least had an appitite today.  You are doing what you can and he is getting more calories than he would without you. Not to mention it's tasty too!  You don't know how old the dear the boy is, nor what trials he's overcome to get this far.  He appreciates you and PapaWick and indeed counts on your care.  One can only hope he stays near to where he's sure there is kindness and that he has safty in his nights.  Love ya, Smiley.  Keep on keepin' on Wild Thing.

@MamaWick    So sad about Smiley.  It sounds like it may be the disease deer get ( I can't remember the name of it).  It sounds like he will probably not survive.
