I can remember when the "Fall Back" time change was always like a week before Halloween, not after like it is now. I believe it was around 2007 when it started being in November. The trick or treaters seemed to like it as they could start their night off sooner to go out in the early darkness.

End DST or end Standard Time. I don't care which one. But have one time year-roune. I heard murmurs of ending DST years ago; nothing came of it.

My Daddy was a city fireman and worked the "night turn" -go to work at 4:00 pm and come home at 7:00 am. He often said that he'd go to work in the dark and come home in the dark.
Now that we are retired we do not mind the time change and it is kinda cozy when "the night closes in".

My question is ... wasn't there discussions and a decision to finally end DS in the United States ... even a few years down the road?
PLEASE ... nothing political. Just share what you know about this.
TIA !
Some politicians have talked about this over the years but nothing ever happens. It's all political hot air.
I also wish we'd stick with DST.

Let me get this straight...
please
Is the time change supposed to give us MORE hours of daylight?
I think people (I have heard) say they don't like how dark it gets at, say, 3pm.
Instead of 4 pm?
I don't get it.
Sunset here is at 6:30 right now.

@LTT1 , good question that u just asked. I don't know the reason for Daylight Saving Time.

The feds seem to have deemed themselves the only group intelligent enough to understand DST 🤣
But an individual state has the right to legislate permanent standard time.
My state failed again this year. Tried a bill in the upper chamber (only) that said we would IF all the adjoining states would. Guess the lower chamber laughed it off.

It is a Catch-22 for me. I am a morning person so having the light in the morning is good for me. I've been having trouble sleeping. One of the things my doc suggessted before we try meds is being in morning daylight as soon as I am able after I wake up. Just 10 - 15 minutes. Is it helping? I don't know. On days it is raining or just cloudy I notice a difference on how I feel.
The lack of natural light is the only thing I dislike about the cool weather months.

And to add another layer to this time zone situation....the majority of my state is under Eastern Standard Time & a portion is under Central Standard Time. To quote Robert Lamm of Chicago fame, "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" ![]()

Here in WA state both houses voted to end the time change and the governor signed. It was then sent on to WA DC--that was a couple years ago--it needs to be ratified there. Seems like those folks have more on their plate than time change---
